Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

:welcome:

I don't have you on the Be Our Guest list, so I will add your dates.

I don't know the answer to your question, but you are correct. No fins allowed in SAB and absolutely no mermaid tails. Seriously.

My son has used goggles in the pool, I suspect a mask is ok. Not positive about the snorkel. How does your daughter like the Breathe Easy mask? I am an avid snorkeler and I have seen this advertised. It definitely piques my interest because I have a small face and have trouble finding masks that don't leak.

Can someone ask a lifeguard if snorkels are allowed?

:thumbsup2

She loves it! She's only 5 1/2 so a proper snorkel would be too much for her but it fits great and she's quite happy although we have only used it in the bath so far!!! Hopefully someone will be able to find out if she can use it or not :-)

The main WDW Info site reports that most water related activity is running again:
http://www.wdwinfo.com/news-stories/update-on-water-related-activities-at-walt-disney-world/

Is anyone there today that can confirm what can and can't be used at the moment?

It is unclear to me whether this article refers to activities at all WDW properties or just at the MK (Bay Lake/Seven Seas Lagoon) resorts.

As far as I know, Friendship Boat transportation between the EPCOT resorts and Hollywood Studios was never disrupted.

Unsure about marina activities- Someone reported Illuminations cruises were still taking place. Not sure about other boat rental or fishing excursions.

Reports from guests at Y&BC say that the campfires have continued to take place on the Crescent Lake beach, but that the rest of the beach is roped off. Outdoor movies were relocated to the Volleyball court area on the nights they are scheduled to be outside.

If anyone has any additional or differing info in this rapidly changing situation, please let us know.

I have not been monitoring any news from the Caribbean Beach Resort regarding their beaches.

Hello BC/YC Friends! I don't post a lot, but wanted to say I love this thread so much! One of the friendliest, nicest, most helpful groups around!!!! I appreciate all the info I have gotten from this group!

I am headed to WDW this week & will be staying at BLT. Of course we will walk around the Boardwalk & go into all the resort lobbies & shops. While at BC, we will think of our friend Teena & her beloved Bob. Teena was so helpful & friendly to my family on our trips to BC & BCV. We will miss seeing her & wish her the best!

I hope you all have a Magical day!

Debating switching reservation in September to Beach Club - how close is the car parking to the rooms? I know when I stay at Port Orleans - its very close.

:welcome:

Let us know if you end up making the switch.

:cool1:

I have never had a car while at the BC, so I don't know the answer to your question. Hopefully others can comment about the comparison in parking at POR/BC.

:car:

LOL I can't remember if I'd read that one before or not. Too funny!

Probably new to you. This was from my July 2013 trip, before I had the pleasure of meeting you!

:goodvibes

Hey guys. First time poster, long time lurker. I just booked a stay at the YC CL (our first stay near epcot property) for mid October for F&W and I'm really excited. I'm bringing my boyfriend as we'll be celebrating his early 30th birthday. I'm originally from south Florida so Disney isn't new to me, but he's lived in Texas his whole life and his last Disney trip was 15+ years ago. My question is, what can i do (both at YC and epcot) to make things extra special for him? He isn't a huge Disney person but he loves star wars and were really excited about the food and wine festival.

:welcome: to this thread and posting on the DIS.

:woohoo:

I have seen some fun suggestions listed already. I'm sure his trip will be magical! It is pricey, but have you looked at attending the MK Halloween party?

:hmghost:

@natebenma can you remove gottalovepluto from the Nov Be Our Guest listing?

Alas, my best friend will be unable to get the time off work the trip would require this year. So sad we're not hitting F&W again this year, and even more sad about BC, but after everything I've learned here BC/YC are at the top of my list for when we do make it back to F&W. (Admittedly we are consoling ourselves with our first ever Best Friends trip to Disneyland for Disneyland's Dapper Day as we both live in CA so now it's time to get pumped for that instead!)

ATTN: ANYONE LOOKING FOR A STANDARD ROOM AT BC Nov 10-14. I don't know how the cancellation process works but I will be cancelling my standard BC room for those dates tomorrow at 8am PST. Good luck to anyone here who might need it!

Will do. Thanks for letting us know and also for trying to help out the folks here.

Have a fantastic trip to DL!

Movies were on the grass next to the volleyball court Friday night. I assume they were in the solarium Saturday because of the rain.

Can anyone confirm if they are currently doing the Albatross Treasure Cruises?

Hopefully someone on the scene can provide an answer. I suspect the availability of water activities at the resort will continue to be rapidly changing in the next few days and weeks.

Do you have this booked for your upcoming trip? If so, I don't think it would be out of line to call the reservation line to ask. Of course, not sure I can confidently say you will get the correct answer from the call center!

Before I head off to work, I am reposting a warning from one of my TA friends about a recent scam that has been hitting the Orlando area:

A call will come to your room, and they will say it's the front desk, they WILL have your name so it seems legit. They will say there is a credit card issue for your account, and ask if you could verify the numbers over the phone. DO NOT give the information, tell them you'll come down to the front desk and clear up the problem. They may insist to not "inconvenience" you, but stand your ground - do not give your information - it is a scam!

PS- don't order pizza from flyers slipped under your resort door!

:sad2:

We have one booked on the 6th. DD is REALLY looking forward to it!

Thanks for the heads up. I can't understand how they get your name?

To the poster asking about how far parking is. It is not terrible. Maybe a few minutes from a close spot to a lobby. I ran from a close spot to the lobby in under a minute during a thunderstorm once. Some of the further out spots are probably a couple of minutes more walking. Not a huge lot. This was for BC. I think the YC has a bigger lot

Per the DIS email yesterday morning:

Update on water-related activities at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World has released updated information about the availability of their water-related activities; many of these were shut down after last week’s fatal alligator attack. The resort beach areas are still not available to guests. All watercraft is running again; previously the ferry boats were the only forms of water transportation in operation. Guests are now allowed to rent pontoon boats and Boston Whaler boats, but Sea Racers are not available for rent.

Fishing excursions before 9:00am on Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake have been cancelled. Guests may only fish in designated areas and are not allowed to fish with their own equipment on any resort waterway.

Movie Under the Stars events at the resorts will be shown inside, instead of out on the beach.

Wednesday was the last night of the old show; the new show started Friday and is advertised as being nightly.

Ah of course! Why didn't I put two and two together?

BTW, We did get a call Friday night from the resort telling us they would be testing fireworks after midnight and they apologized for any disturbances. We didn't hear anything and we were up doing late night packing after midnight.

So sad to be home from a relaxing 11 night stay at the BCVs. Our last few days were a little crazy-family from the Daytona area came in and grabbed a couple of nights at the BC so they could join us at SAB. We had a ball!

We were able to do one of the fireworks cruises into EPCOT from Bayside Marina. A really cool experience. They leave from the marina at around 8:15 and take a cruise down to HS first. Our captain had a lot of interesting info for us, some of which I knew, but some I didn't. They actually take you inside the park just past the bridge between France and England. Not an inexpensive experience but certainly a lot of fun. The boats take up to 10 people, but you reserve it for your group, they don't combine groups. They provide a few snacks (chips, popcorn, brownies, cookies, etc) and soft drinks and waters. They also allow you to bring on your own. We were initially told no glass but the captain said people bring glass on board. We didn't. Here are a couple of photos. It was a great way to end our trip as we did this the last night. So glad our family stayed the extra night and was able to enjoy it with our small family of three. image.jpegimage.jpeg

Pictures look amazing ! Glad you had a great time.

View pics from our room at the BCV...room 370. The balcony was fully covered and we were only a few doors away from the smaller elevator and a few doors the other way from the stairs to the parking lot, which was convenient for travels via car and loading/unloading. It was a renovated room and I previously posted pictures of the interior earlier.

We did have an interesting incident. While sitting on the balcony one morning ice cold water came rushing in a stream from a vent/drain from the roof/floor of the unit above us. We weren't sure whether it was a maintenance issue or someone emptying their cooler on the floor of the balcony above but the water was actually coming down like a waterfall from the middle of our balcony roof. Never happened again and there was no evidence of it. Totally bizarre.
