Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Yikes. I had a rather mortifying experience on one trip with a relative, whose inability to hold liquor made itself known at Epcot. In hindsight, WDW was clearly the worst vacation destination for this person. After a few too many samples at F&W, she attempted to climb over the bars of the queue at SE and failed miserably. She was wearing a muumuu and a straw hat with flowers on it and ended up flat on her back with her skirt over her ears. There was not much left to the imagination. Just picture a drunken Mrs. Roper wearing a thong and you've pretty much got the picture. It was beyond embarrassing. I got her situated and sat with her through the ride, muttering all the while that she had no right to ruin everyone's vacation and swatting her in the leg periodically to keep her awake. It might have been mean, but she sort of deserved it. After that, we left the park and took her back to the room for a much-needed nap. Needless to say, while I dearly love this person, I will never vacation with her again.

Gee... thanks for letting everyone know I wear thong undies. I had spent a considerable amount of time convincing people that read this thread that I rocked the Grannie panties but now my secret is out, along with my naughty bits. As far as my MooMoo is concerned it counts as "Disney" if the house dress you are wearing has Clarabelle the Cow on it.

PS. I think I lost that hat on Soarin... or did you toss it into the fire in the Cave scene in Spaceship Earth (or was that me??)

I tossed it over one of the walls blocking off the sad remains of the Maelstrom. Someone recovered it and added it to one of the displays in the Stave Church.

Hey guys. First time poster, long time lurker. I just booked a stay at the YC CL (our first stay near epcot property) for mid October for F&W and I'm really excited. I'm bringing my boyfriend as we'll be celebrating his early 30th birthday. I'm originally from south Florida so Disney isn't new to me, but he's lived in Texas his whole life and his last Disney trip was 15+ years ago. My question is, what can i do (both at YC and epcot) to make things extra special for him? He isn't a huge Disney person but he loves star wars and were really excited about the food and wine festival.

Just wanted to say Welcome! Plan to spend a good amount of time at Food & Wine. Once the seminars are announced, you could see if one would appeal to you. Also, the Eat to the Beat concerts can be a lot of fun. Get a gift card to use at the booths. Make sure you pick up a passport and get a stamp at each booth you visit.

Have a great time!

Hey Dee let me know when you start the 2018 list 8-):D. We are going back but not till September 21, 2018! I'm thinking by then the Yacht Club will have had a refurb  Lol. I'm going to try to stay like 12 days, does anyone know when they decorate for Halloween? For now my countdown is pretty sad 800+ days :sad::sad:. It doesn't seem like we were just there less than a month ago :sad2:. The Disboards will help me get by :disrocks:

I meant to (sort of) answer that. I know MK decorates VERY early. Like end of August, beginning of September. Definitely before the first MNSSHP is scheduled.

Not sure about the resorts.

Anyone know when or how much the resorts decorate for Halloween? Which, btw, is an important date for me...

ETA: I didn't see Wood Nymph's answer when I typed this. Thanks for your input!

Do many guests at YC/BC decorate their room windows for Halloween whilst there? I'm thinking along the lines of plush figures and window decorations, just curious really.
We have seen rooms in the value and moderate resorts decorated for Christmas this way and it looked wonderful.
I love the colours of Autumn anyway and got some really good comments at home last year from decorating our sitting room window with Disney characters dressed for Halloween.

I have not been during Halloween or Christmas seasons, so I don't know what is typically done.

I am not aware of any restrictions to decorating your room doors or windows, but I have only seen a few guests decorating their doors at the Beach Club.

I don't think the doors are metallic, like the ones at the values (and moderates?).

The windows do not look out onto common space, except for the ground floor, so any decorations would mainly be seen and enjoyed by the people in the room or by people looking that way from their balconies. Not sure that I would want to encourage people peeking my way! But you are welcome to bring some decorations and I know some people bring an artificial Christmas tree during their vacations in December.

We have reservations for Undiscovered Future World Tour that starts at 9:00 (the park opens at 9:00) at guest relations by Space Ship Earth. Will we be allowed to go through the International Gateway early? If so, is there a special line for tours? Or do we have to cut the line to get to the front to get early access (Not something I'm looking forward to doing)

Will I be allowed to rent an ECV before the park opens?

we have booked garden/lagoon view room for dec 14-21... as that is the only dates i could get but i really want one more day. i keep checking for dec 13 but no luck - i was able to get the dec 22 added on to the end. since this is so close to christmas, i really want the 13 instead.

i see i can upgrade to a water view room for the 13-21 (more $). because we want quiet and more private, we are really hoping for that far wing (that faces the swan maybe?). it's the far corner of the resort, as far away from main resort and beach club/international gateway side as possible.

it appears from the room map view, there are very few garden view rooms... all i can see are 1012-1030, which looks like about 10 rooms on each floor. if we would be guaranteed one of those rooms, i would keep it for the discounted price and accept the dates i have.

SO does anyone know if are there more garden view rooms than just that little chunk that i see from 1012-1030? <- kinda rambling, not even sure if this makes sense! :)

Fence is being constructed right now on gf beach there's a pic in another thread. Anyone at y & b now that can confirm if same is being built on beach club beach?

I'm wondering this myself. Does anyone have any news on whether this will be going up at YC/BC?

They don't typically decorate the resorts for Halloween. However the resorts typically have a pumpkin decorating contest a few days prior to Halloween. Guests are asked to vote for the favorite pumpkin which have been created by cast members.
