Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

I see that the kids lunches at hurricane Hannah's come in a sand pail. Did I read somewhere that if you don't get the sand pail the lunch meal is cheaper? I believe the kids meal with the pail is almost $9.

Interesting question.

Last time someone asked it, I got taunted and I believe the person who made the nasty comment was banned from the DIS before it got REALLY ugly.

At the time, the official answer was no discount if you don't get the sand pail. A CM may use discretion and give you a price break if you ask.

Would anyone like to take on the mission of asking at HH? @EasternShoreGal

I can't remember the price but you can order the kids items without the sides.

Good info!

Yup they were just recently added. This was one of the ONLY things we were a little bummed about booking BC, since we LOVE mickey waffles and we are used to staying at resorts that always had them. When we found out that they added them to the Marketplace breakfast menu, we were super happy and excited! We are staying at BC for the first time also, so I am not sure how busy it is in the mornings. I was also a little concerned about seating there. I'm sure someone here can answer, but are there any tables in or around the Marketplace where we can sit and eat breakfast?

This is from the Beach Club Marketplace photo thread (Post 6???). The picture from the Solarium is from 2011, so the furniture in there is a little different, but there is still a lot of seating available there. Mostly couches, chairs and side tables/coffee tables.

Seating Areas:

While there are no longer any tables or chairs for seating inside the Marketplace, there is outside covered seating across the hallway and seating in the solarium (see below)

There is additional seating available in the charming Solarium, around the corner from the Marketplace:

52 days until we check into BCV. So excited....
Did online check in and all it would allow me is high floor/woods view (we already requested 2 beds in 2nd bedroom via DVC as we have a 2 bedroom BCV room)
I really want a new room and I assume I can ask for this the day we check in? We check in around 11am ish.

Yes, you certainly may ask!

From what I am understanding, the second wing of BCVs is either completed or very close. Hopefully there will be significantly more progress by the time your trip rolls around.

Thanks natebenma for adding us to the March 2017 list
Could you please add us for November 21-28 2016 too :D

We were currently booked for a room only at POFQ which DD and I love for our Thanksgiving trip. After reading all the great things about the BC to prepare us for our March trip I decided to check our November dates for the Free Dining promotion with no luck :sad2:

Then it happened BC popped up with a standard room and I grabbed it without thinking. So now our 5 day Thanksgiving trip has turned into 8 days with Free Dining and we're staying at the BC :woohoo:

Please add us to the November 2016 list 11/21-11/28

:welcome: back!

Will do!

:woohoo:

I really hope the closing of the two gates at Stormalong Bay is just a temporary measure and not a permanent cost cutting measure to reduce the staff wages bill.

:welcome: to this thread!

Do you have an upcoming trip?

:goodvibes:

Just switched our Food & Wine trip to the Yacht Club, so we'll be joining you lovely people October 23-29! Can't wait!!! :stitch:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

We just got back from a trip a week ago and I am already planning out next one lol. If all goes well at the 7 month mark we will be staying at BCV January 2017! I'm hoping it will be fairly easy to book (home resort is Poly) since it's a slow time and will probably be too cold for most people to swim at SAB. Excited to try out an Epcot resort!

So glad to hear you had a great trip.

I'll pencil you in for Jan on the BOG list.

I'll give it a shot...... From the BW to HS you'll walk past the surrey bike rental kiosk on your left and friendship boat loading docks on your right. Take your first left [just before the ScreenDoor store] past Wyland Galleries and then your first right which will bring you to the Clown pool. Veer to the left around the Clown pool and you'll run right in to the walkway to HS. On the way back from HS, you'll see the Clown pool roller coaster waterslide and there will be an entrance to the pool area on the backside of the slide. Reverse above and you'll be right back to the BW! We enjoy the walk over the boat! Have fun!

Thank you so much for this! I have only used the route from Hollywood Studios to the Beach Club, so I have never had the occasion to try the shortcut heading to the park. Perhaps I will try this out on my October trip.

I am sensing a BIG problem by staying at the BC with my family. I don't believe anyone will ever want to go back to and stay at any of the other resorts after we stay here. We have stayed at GF, AKL, POFQ, POR and CBR (some numerous times) but BC looks more beautiful and in the best location out of any of them. They all think we are staying where we stayed last year, CBR. I am going to put the address in my husbands GPS and when we pull up, they are going to be shocked. I am also surprising my 3 children with 2 days at the LEGOLAND hotel and park. Sorry, to my question. Since I changed resorts, I cannot get an adr at Beaches and Cream. Is there anyway we can get in their for an ice cream? I thought I read about another good ice cream parlor close to the boardwalk area? any advice?

There is a new ice cream parlor on the Boardwalk named Ample Hill Creamery. It is getting rave reviews. Just a short walk away.
There is also a Take Out window at Beaches & Cream with a more limited menu, but you can definitely get ice cream to go. Lots of tables to sit at nearby.

finally caught up... so much great info! i keep my notebook close at hand when reading this thread.

Our family got an invitation being given to random DVC members for an advance screening of the new Finding Dory movie

that is so awesome!! very nice treat! no spoilers please! ;)

Did they offer any alternatives like filling water bottles with filtered water?

is the water available tap water? i am not a water snob, i drink and cook with "toronto's best" tap water every day... but i cannot drink orlando tap water.

just wondering about captain's grille.... i just watched a disunplugged review of worst 5 restaurants and it topped the list. i realize all that is so subjective (one of our favourite meals on our last visit was hollywood and vine!) but it was just posted 4 days ago.

i saw one post above that refer to it as "less than stellar". it made me wonder what other recent guests' experiences have been like.

We just returned from a fantastic quick weekend trip to the YC CL. The weather was unseasonably warm - CM were saying that it was August heat and even they were unprepared, so we were very grateful for SAB!!

We had a SV CL room and we were very pleased with the room and of course the Club Lounge was wonderful. Our kids are 9 and 6 and really like to engage with the CM, so staying CL is a real treat for them. The CM were amazing and could not do enough for us. The food was great - having breakfast and coffee ready and waiting in the morning is a gift. I hate having to fetch breakfast as we are trying to prepare for the day. Again, because of the heat and then the rain yesterday, we found ourselves spending more time at the resort than anticipated and YC never disappoints.

Any questions? Ask away :)
Kpm76- I'm considering upgrading our upcoming YC stay to CL. Have never tried concierge before. How are the offerings during the day? Did you take any pictures of the food? Is it worth the upgrade costs?

My pleasure. On page 153, of the Cake Chatter Part IV thread, is a photo of my cake and how it was set up by YC/BC Fine Dining. I had it delivered as a surprise for DH after we returned from Illuminations.

Awesome cake. I have a few ideas for the cake I want to order. Will be running them by DD for her thoughts but I am thinking a mini two tier wedding cake, one cake chocolate, one yellow. Chocolate mousse filling for both. Lilac for one tier and cream color for the other. Gold/silver Mickeys and some wedding beading/scrolls on the cakes. Plus have them put the picture of the bride with the ax and the husband from HM either on top or resting up against the cake.

We were married by a notary public who looked exactly like George Burns and our wedding dinner was Chinese food. We never had a wedding cake.

Checked in Friday. Just wanted to mention current Stormalong hours. Pool now closes at 10pm and they were firm with that. Our last summer visit was at least 11. If this has already been mentioned sorry for the duplication.

.

I've had breakfast and dinner at Captains Grille many times. Only complaints...the grits were not very good and the prices. I use my Disney Visa for the 10 percent, but the cost is still high.

We also like Yak and Yeti. It's all subjective.

We really like Captain's Grille. We've eaten dinner there multiple times. Both the food & the service was great each & every time.

Hey y'all! Coming at ya from the regatta club at yacht. There was a snafu (we asked for two beds, water view but the room that they had available for us and ready when we check in was just one with a sleeper/couch. I asked the manger to see if they could do anything because I didn't want my tall 9 yr old to have to sleep on it. (Later found out it would have been plenty large enough). But the manager totally took care of us by givin us the option to move down to the third floor but we would still have all of the club/club level amenities and a very very generous discount. We are thrilled and I really don't feel that the rooms look bad! Sure a little wallpaper issues but great other than that. I remember somebody wanted me to either find something out or take pictures of something and I can't remember what it was. If you will let me know I will get right on it!!! CHEERS!!!

When I was there at the end of August last year, they still had the signs out for the Pineapple Treats (they were not allowed to call them Dole Whips) at SAB, but we never saw the stand open. We asked and they told us they opened when staffing allowed it.

I haven't heard reports that they will be offered again this summer.

If anyone happens to find out they are selling the Frozen Pineapple Treats poolside this year, please let us know.

A this point they don't have them and no signs. Not looking promising but I will ask.
