Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Not sure what the status is with all the construction, but there were always lots of rocking chairs and glides along the porch when you first walk out the back door with little tables next to them. Not quite the same as the actual table and chairs eating area they have outside at BC, but it was always a nice area to sit with a coffee or to-go meal.

Right now there were tough to get to. From the YC back entrance on the left hand side you could not access the porch walk way. From the Yachtman door area you can access the porch walkway to the BC entrance however there are portable bushes blocking the views until beaches and cream. There were a few tables and chairs there but with the construction during the day it’s not a place to dine.

From the pics of the construction, I figured they were either removed or inaccessible. Thanks for the confirmation.

For anyone who has gone recently, how noisy is the pool construction during the mid afternoon? It's hard to tell from the construction pictures if they've gotten through the heavy machine phase yet. Recently sold my DVC and the cash price deals going on right now is enticing, but don't want to hear jackhammering during afternoon naps for kids.

Do you think by August it will be safe to stay at Yacht Club or would you think it may warrant a switch .

So far it look like the major concrete jackhammer work is done for now but as they finish the wall siding and the roof work there may be more concrete jackhammer work as they clear their current work areas near the building.

Maybe only book a Resort View room if you want to take a chance before the end of May. By June it should just be minor work so they can finish on time for the End or June time frame.

Just visited and they have received a large delivery of sandbags for pool. Siding and roofing have a very long way to go. Going back in September hoping all will be done.

I was wondering how they got the concrete trucks seen in the recent wdwmagic photos to the site. SAB isn’t exactly the easiest site to access when it comes to heavy equipment.
I know that one. It is the same way group buses enter Epcot backstage. They use the Epcot service road (near the World Showplace Pavilion off the Avenue of the Stars road. And swing by the Sklyliner access to the International Gateway walkway.

I agree with Dave. We were just there the first week of April and didn’t have any real noise issues the entire trip. I had a sick kid on day two, so we were in the room quite a bit that day and it was fine. She actually napped most of that day.

That’s ridiculous. Yup, I said that- your worry about an August trip is ridiculous. The odds they’ve hit a problem so bad they extend the refurb that long are miniscule. Tell the paranoia to go away and get excited for your trip!

There is a road between the Dolphin and the Yacht Club that would provide access for large construction vehicles. I don't know if that is how they are doing it for the SAB work, though, but it is there. :)

My Internet makes me an expert in everything opinion suspects the fact you’d need to drive over the wooden walkway in front of much of the YC side makes that less ideal an access point when it comes to something on the very heavy side, like a full concrete truck. But yeah, I’ve seen maintenance vehicles, etc come from that way as well in the past. I was running one morning and a fishing boat captain drove his car right up to the boat dock to unload his gear - was the oddest thing seeing a car there. :-)

When I was there last month, construction trucks were coming from Epcot, the access road before the skyliner, to YC. They took down the barriers leading into Epcot to get by wherever smoking area is.

You are right about the weight of the trucks on the wooden walkway. They just replaced that walkway a year or so ago. So, they won't want to mess them up again. :)

Currently, my kids would be disappointed SAB is closed, but I'm confident they'd want to spend a couple hours following the trucks and watching some of the reconstruction!! The big toys are really cool.....!

Looks like they are making progress, which is very important......

Is this what you are talking about - this is from Google Earth while they were building the skyliner
