We are staying at YC. Our budget is for Disney meals for lunch and dinner but not breakfast. That will be easy to eat stuff in the room and on the go. Hate not having a freezer so we can have breakfast sandwiches and microwaveable breakfast bowls.
Curious, does the marketplace have those? If so, what time does the store open? I would be fine running down each morning early and grabbing that for some hot breakfast that’s not oatmeal.
Do you mind sharing where you saw these reports of guests being held up on the Contemporary-MK walkway? I added extra days on the end of my trip at the Contemporary for the express purpose of being able to walk to MK prior to opening to get a jump on the crowds.Based upon the experiences some people reported this week (not my experiences but those reported elsewhere), taking the Contemporary walkway to be at MK for park opening was not a good idea. They held guests on the Contemporary walkway for almost 15 minutes. Those on the walkway watched as the MK busses emptied and the other Disney resort guests got in MK ahead of those waiting on the walkway. It may have been a scheduling issue for the security guards or health screeners who work the Contemporary walkway entrance or an intentional holding, who knows. When spent 2 of the last 3 Christmas mornings at MK and took the Contemporary walkway a few minutes prior to opening with no problem but that was pre-Covid.
If it was me going for the anniversary celebration, I would reserve 2 nights at Grand Floridian to use their walkway (it takes you to the main security entrance unlike the Contemporary), bank on ubering to TTC very early that day or stick with the busses from your resort and be standing at that bus stop 3 hours before park opening.
For the 50th, I envision a madhouse similar to when Galaxy's Edge opened, hundreds of cars showed up too early to the parking lots (they didn't open until 4am), were turned away by security guards and just sitting on the side of the road for an hour or 2 waiting for the lots to open.
....Honestly, I cannot remember - there were only two of us in each room, so there was no reason to look to see if the "dresser" was actually a Murphy bed.....sorry I can't be of better help....![]()
In a Disney fb group- don't think we're allowed to mention specific ones here on disboards. There was a thread about the Contemporary walkway not opening for temp screenings until 7:15am or later. Multiple people confirmed but it could just be for the holiday crowds.Do you mind sharing where you saw these reports of guests being held up on the Contemporary-MK walkway? My rope drop at HS on Jan 3
7:15 Leave beach club villas
7:27 through Boardwalk breezeway
7:38 Arrive at HS entrance
7:48 moved to temp check to wait
8:06 temp scan opens
8:17 boarded first MMRR train
8:40 boarded SDD (10 min posted wait, accurate)
8:50 got in line MFSR
9:25 boarded MFSR (35 min wait, 55 was posted by sign since app times weren’t available yet)
9:50 boarded ROTR
10:15 got in line for 10:30 FRozen
11:05 watched vacation fun
11:40 lunch sci fi
1pm skylines back to room for nap
It was a great day! I wouldn’t change a thing if you want to play it safe. But for minimal waiting could probably arrive at HS 10-15 min later and it wouldn’t put you much behind where I was.
....I was thinking of those pull-out single beds that are in the furniture, like at the Poly and BWV...there was a couch in both rooms that opened up into queen(?) beds....There aren’t Murphy beds at a YC. The pp was asking about a daybed. Did the room have a sofa or just a chair & ottoman? The sofas pull down to a daybed so if there was a sofa, that means there was a daybed.
....that restaurant is absolutely FABULOUS!Yeah we're going Christmas and only doing one breakfast Christmas morning (2021), and trying Topolino Terrace....
How is BCV handling grocery deliveries right now with the main part of the resort closed?
The main entrance and lobby of the Beach Club is open, it is only the rooms that are closed. And two of the BC elevators are closed for repairs. Groceries are still being delivered to the main BC entrance.
We talked to a manager in the BC Marketplace and he said that the villas were full but the Yacht Club had plenty of empty rooms. We picked up dinner from the Marketplace last night and ate in the Solarium. There wasn't anyone there. I think I will miss the empty Marketplace when things go back to normal.
I really like the Yacht Club rooms a lot more than the BC rooms. I love all the cubbyholes they have for storage. It is great to be able to put things under the bed. The shower is really nice. And the reading lights on the beds are great. I think that is my favorite feature.I also like having a balcony. We seem to be averaging a full balcony only 50% of the time when we stay at the BC. But it is almost a guarantee here.

Very exciting. Glad you got the discount. Hope the Yachtsman is open too—would make a great birthday dinner. With the discounts out for our dates today, we made it official! We will be at YC for the second week of our split stay, 5/30 - 6/4. 5/30 is my birthday so we hope to have a nice birthday breakfast/brunch at GF Cafe, spend the day in MK and then hop to Epcot or the Studios while our stuff is being transferred to YC. I really hope Yachtsman is open, I would love a nice birthday dinner there!![]()
...I hope you are able to score an ADR here....we were not so lucky....With the discounts out for our dates today, we made it official! We just walked our stuff over to YC [from the BCV] ourselves and did a quick check-in. Fortunately, our rooms were available so we were able to deposit our stuff into the room....then hop to Epcot or the Studios while our stuff is being transferred to YC....
....I truly missed not dining at the Yachtsman too, but give Ale & Compass a shot - I was very pleasantly surprised! I know it's not on par with Yachtsman or Flying Fish, but give it a try....I really hope Yachtsman is open, I would love a nice birthday dinner there!![]()

Sorry if this is a second post you are reading from me but I have to say goodbye to this WONDERFUL BOARD and all you very nice and kind people! I was (no joke) on hold from 8:30 until 1:45 today and when I finally got through (and not hung up on) the 1 BC bedroom Villa was long gone for the 30% off promo but the nice lady looked and offered me a 1 bedroom Villa over at BW plus $248 credit. So I took it and I now need to figure out how to change my banner and start reading up on BW. I just wanted to THANK EVERYONE for all the information you gave me when I asked something and maybe in time we will try staying at the BC again!
...love, love, LOVE The RIv! See if you can get an ADR for Topolino's Terrace - it rivals The Yachtsman.I also ended up changing from Yacht Club to Riviera in a Tower Studio. The rooms look gorgeous and since it's just me I don't need a ton of extra space. It's a little bit more, but overall I think I'm going to be happier.
