Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

I seem to recall fitting a twin airbed into the living room of a 1BR at BCV (with the sofabed open) during a visit back in 2015 before the refurb. We are a party of 4 with 2 teenage boys not keen on sharing the sofabed. Anyone use an airbed recently in a 1br at BCV?

Anyone remember what the SAB hours were last May? Did it open earlier than 9am, do you think?

No, it did not open prior to 9:00 a.m. while we were there from May 11-19, 2017--I was thinking it was actually 10:00 a.m. although it could have been at 9:00 a.m., but definitely not earlier than 9:00 a.m. The leisure pools were open at 7:00 a.m. though.

Thanks. I was hoping it would open earlier, but at least I can plan accordingly. Have to give DH some swim time, even on a short trip, and SAB and Biergarten are his bribes...

Hi YC/BC folks! :wave2: I have not researched this question so please forgive me... figured I’d go straight to the experts.

DW is running the marathon on Sunday and staying at YC. She has had to change her plans to fly back home Sunday night.

My question, what are the potential showering/changing options at YC after check-out time? Did I read that they put in showers at SAB sometime recently? Is changing at the gym an option?

Appreciate any help/feedback. :thanks:

Showers are available near Stormalong Bay. They are located in the restroom area near the pool not too far beyond Beaches & Cream and the Arcade!

Hi, booking did not go as planned. I am booking under a cast member friends and family discount. We originally we planning to stay at the BC CL. Tried booking this morning and it would not let us book. When we went back in to book it the discount for the Beach Club dropped to 25% instead of the normal 40%. We were able to book at the YC CL with the 40% off. We are booked in a standard room but I really want a lagoon view. It is a price difference of $1600. Would you go with the lagoon view or stay with the standard and upgrade our passes to annual? Also we have never stayed at the YC I will have two 12 year old boys with us will they be ok. We stayed at the BC last time and absolutely loved it. HELP!!! It would be for May 4th to May 12th.

The big difference is no Storm Along Bay pool, but if this isn't a big deal for your boys, you will be fine.
Oops! What I wrote above, is not true of course. Senior moment! So....I think YC will be fine because your boys will still get to swim in Storm Along Bay!

Stormalong Bay is available to YC guests as well as BC--confused by the second quote?

I would save the money and upgrade passes. Your kids will be fine at YC and it is a short walk down the walkway to BC to get a fix if need be. :flower3:

We've stayed at both and really you can't go wrong. YC is my #2 after GF. I used to be picky on views, but have gotten over it at WDW. Hawaii, yes. Disney, meh. The main advantage of the YC with a view over BC is having a full balcony. Nothing worse than having a great view and no balcony. So unless you plan on spending extended periods of time on the balcony with meals, wine, dessert (a B&C sundae watching the Illuminations fireworks is kinda cool) I would not worry about the lack of view. Don't get me wrong, the lagoon view is lovely at BC, but not worth that kind of money, especially if your family is like ours and you are at the parks for extended periods of time. You may even be able to ask for an upgraded YC view on check in. I know back in the day we got an upgrade once in a while; not sure if that's still in practice. I'd take that money and do something special at the resort (illuminations cruise maybe?).

Well I finally got it all figured out. Not my original plan but one that is just as good. I was on the phone several times and the last cm was so awesome found flaws in my reservation that I would never have seen. So this is what I have booked. Arrival on May 4th staying at PO Riverside for two nights. Then on Sunday May 6th moving to Yacht Club club level with a lagoon view. By cutting off two nights at YC and finding flaws in reservation I saved over $1500. The flaws were that they had my son who is 11 and his friend who is also 11 as adults. I save over $400 at YC and $150 at POR by changing the kids from adults.

We have never stayed at either resort so if anyone has any recommendations please pass them along. It was a lot to figure out but well worth it in the end. How is the Regatta lounge different from the BC?

YeeHaa Bob performs several nights each week at the River Roost at POR, playing the piano and signing songs. Your son and his friend might find him entertaining.

For all my Nor-Eastern DIS board friends, be safe out there. Sounds like the next few days will be very dicey from a weather and travel perspective. For all those down at the Mouse pad in Orlando, sorry for your luck on the weather, unless you are Canadian and then you will be able to have SAB all to yourselves.

we have confirmed our dates for November- can you add the dates Nov 9-17 at the BC CL to the Be Our Guest list? We originally were going to stay at the YC, but after finding out that I would need a stool to get in and out of bed (hahaha) we decided to go back to the BC!

Now to wait for discounts!

thanks

Will do!

:cool1:

I have a studio booked for Feb. Would I be able to rent a cott or bring in an air mattress? My cousin and I would have to share a bed and we are both quite big guys so sharing a bed is not really an option.

:welcome: to the thread and to posting on the DIS!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

:woohoo:

Sounds like you should be all set with separate bedding, but you may have to draw straws for the real bed vs. the pullout.

::yes::

We ate the Yachtsman on 12/7, and had a wonderful experience overall. The filet was as good as I've had anywhere, and the service was excellent. My wife's lobster was good but not great, as was desert IMO. All in all, I'd say it's a can't miss if you're looking for a good steak on property.

:welcome: to posting on the thread. Thanks for adding your comments about the Yachtsman. I have never dined there, but I'll have to keep it in mind after all the reviews I have read!

:thumbsup2

Does anyone know if they are building cabanas at Stormalong Bay pool? I thought I heard a while back, or maybe just a rumor.

I found my post from July, however as far as I know, there has not been any progress on construction of any cabanas. It can take quite awhile for rumors to come to fruition. When we initially learned that poolside showers would be built, they were not ready until more than a year after the estimated completion date:

:beach:

So I have some big news about Stormalong Bay, but it comes with a downside for me. I will no longer be able to respond to a certain question with my favorite answer ever...

"Yes, We Have No Cabanas"

:banana::banana::banana:

Although I have to say that the first time I had the opportunity to use that response was one of the few times that someone was taken aback and criticized me about the "rude" post.

Not sure how many cabanas are planned or what the rental price and amenities will be. My man on the scene says work is expected to start in about a month or so, back where the tables are way in the back by the kiddie pool.

I'll let you all know when I have more news.

:thumbsup2

Here now! Arrived ahead of the snowstorm for marathon weekend & got message that my kiddos have a snow day today while in flight!

First time @ BCCL in a 1nt comp rm before moving to a deluxeclrm today. After our not so great yccl stay a couple years ago I'm very impressed and dh who never wanted to stay at bc because "it's too much like home" is also very happy.

DD & I have the 10K tomorrow!

Does anybody know what the current pool hours are for stormalong bay? We're at Yacht Club in a couple weeks and trying to do some preliminary planning. Thanks!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1.

January?

Last year the hours for SAB in January were 10 am to 8 pm. Can anyone report on the hours currently? Although based on the record lows in Florida right now, I expect the pool hours may be curtailed even more than normal for this time of year.

:cold:

Anyone remember what the SAB hours were last May? Did it open earlier than 9am, do you think?

I checked the hours I have listed on Page 1, Post 2. I wasn't very consistent about keeping this info updated. As mentioned above, Jan 2017 was 10 am to 8 pm. No listing for Feb. The other months, when I have them listed, SAB was open from 9 am to 10 pm. I don't think it opens before 9 am. But if I'm wrong, someone please correct me.

:fish:

Dee, please add me to the Be Our Guest list when you do the next update. Thanks to a new "everyone" discount released this morning, we can get BC SV for $100 less than our rack rate AKL room! Yeah, it's not a huge discount, but it's enough to make BC the winner in my books. :-) Still hoping for a bigger AP discount later, but I'll be happy to be back at BC even if I stick with our current price.

Bookbabe626 May 18-21 BC SV

Here's to a hubby who hates weddings but loves SAB! This trip, and the ones that will follow since we're getting APs, all stem from DH's desire to avoid going to a school buddy's wedding. Woo hoo! I love Disney way more than weddings!

Will do!!!

:woohoo:

I would like to be added to the Be Our Guest list as well, please.

LaRaine Jan. 30- Feb 1, 2018- BC but not picky! (10th anniversary) :thanks:

thanks!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the list.

:cool1:

Just booked Beach Club for June 5 - 15! So excited for our first stay at the BC

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.
