Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE Information & Questions

last night when we got back from the pool my parents room (connecting to ours-third floor south wing courtyard) had water leaking into the light fixture in the bathroom. It was pouring out and going. Right down the tub. (That was good. At least it wasn't flooding the room). Outside of the room it was leaking through the vents on the wall and down to the floor. Another gentleman from across the hall said his room was covered in water.

They came to assess the problem and got back to us about moving us to Polynesian two connecting studio rooms. We were happy to be connecting rooms still but sad to be leaving our wilderness lodge home. We've never stayed at the poly, so it would be a new adventure. Kids were sad-we're scheduled to be flag family on our last day Friday. After talking this morning to the concierge, we decided to stay here since they fixed the problem. (Broken air conditioning pipe on the 6th floor--affected about twenty rooms) they just have to make the light fixture safe again with the water that was pooled in it. They told us if we moved to the poly we'd have a view of the pool construction. And that was my fear. We just love our view here at the lodge. They gave us three nights comped back to our room! They have been above and beyond amazing. Drove us in a van this morning so we wouldn't miss our adrs at grand Floridian-being honest about he view from the poly-just amazing! So glad we don't have to leave our home away from home. And happy that they had such prompt attention to the problem. It could have been worse, glad the water in the electrical didn't cause more of a problem than it could have!

On our way now to MK! Have a magical day :)

Wow, what a night you had and what a mess! We had a big leak once on the 7th floor, but over the sink area. I'm glad you were able to stay put and they made it up to you. The WL van is such a treat and you can really get used to it fast! Have fun being Flag Family:)

On a side note......... 3 more DAYS!!!!!!! till we arrive :-)
Carry on.
:yay:

4 SLEEPS - 5 DAYS UNTIL OUR FIRST WL STAY*! YAY!!!

And so, of course, this weekend I dislocated my finger - my "extra special waving finger" (if you know what I mean... LOL) On my right hand too, so I am all taped up and pitiful and clumsy and hopeful that the Dr will give me some kind of magical splint tomorrow so that I can still do all the stuff I have on my list for this trip!

But who cares, because WE ARE GOING TO WDW! We are so eager to get to WL that we scheduled the first flight out - and still won't get there till noon local time LOL. DFW is *not* our travel friend. But it's all OK - the first order of action on our agenda is Hoop Dee Doo that evening, because it's the best way for our family to start a WDW adventure! :D

SO EXCITED! I can't wait! :)

* not our first WDW adventure - I've been going to MK since July of '72. Just our first stay at WL!

So sorry! Ouch...but, like you said...you're going to DW! Not sure where you're at in the D/FW area but if you're southwest you may want to try the Austin airport for your next trip. We'll be on the 1st flight out 11/19 and arrive in Orlando around 10:30. We fly out of Austin every chance we get; Hobby used to be our "airport of choice" but we now LOVE going out of Austin. We have to drive 1 1/2 hours to get there but figuring in traffic that's about the same amount of drive time as it is to Hobby. Of course, if you're north of D/FW it wouldn't be worth the drive but wanted to put the thought out there for you. In 2012 I developed an AWFUL finger infection during our trip. It was sore before I left but got progressively worse during the trip. I ended up spending my last afternoon/evening in a 24 hour clinic :sad2: but the trip was SO worth it. The pain goes away when you're in the parks! ::yes:: Good luck! :tink:

Almost time for us to jet out of Houston!!! We fly out of Hobby on the first flight out to MCO for the day. Our flight should land about 9:30am and then its up to Magical express to get us to WL.
Hopefully we do not have to wait to long for the bus to depart.

I'm starting to get excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh wow! I hope your finger has healed up completely! And you are absolutely correct - when I am at WDW, I have no pain at all. It's one of the reasons why I love to go; all of this chronic pain disappears and I am free again! (and I behave like I am a kid again!)

We actually fly out of TUL >DFW>MCO so Austin is a *wee* bit out of our way! :D

But look at all the fine folks from the Heartland who are hanging out around here (looking at you too @valenrandy!) :)

Ideally I want the plane to get there about 15 minutes early. Then once we board Magical Express it be nice if the driver said lets go as soon as we sat down. After the nice 35 minute ride I would hope we would be escorted to the 7th
floor and I would pass on the mimosas (not served) and hope they would give us magical one of a kind WL smores lol! I am really day dreaming here.... Am I there yet???

You might want to add one more wish, that the Magical Express goes directly to the WL instead of stopping first at the Poly and GF. ;)

Wouldn't bother us a bit actually :-) The stops would just add the excitement.

:thumbsup2 The Hobby "first flight out" must now be about 30 minutes earlier than the last time I flew out of Hobby! :rotfl: It's been about 6 years but I know my flight left at 7 something. Have a SUPER trip :yay:...ours is only about 56 days away but this part of Texas will be represented well at WL and DW! :thumbsup2 (And...we did stop at GF first only to have the bus involved in an accident. Poor bus driver :sad2:...an inconsiderate guest had parked in the bus lane and, bless his heart, he TRIED to get around the car but just "clipped" the back bumper with the front bumper of the bus. THEN...we had to wait for ANOTHER bus to continue on to WL. :rolleyes1) :tink:

:rotfl2:...just a *wee* bit out of the way is putting it mildly :rotfl2: but "welcome to Texas" if it's only for a short time! :thumbsup2 Yes, the finger eventually healed...after my first stop back home was our local ER to get it lanced. The clinic doctor in Orlando didn't want to "put me through that" and then have me travel home. It still took a visit the next day to my regular doctor and about 3 weeks but I had all those Disney memories to occupy my thoughts! :dance3::tink:

We are here!!!!

First thing first!!!!
No flight delays.
We were the first to be dropped off!!!
And we have now been checked in and were granted our room request of north wing woods view club level.

About them scaffolds....

Currently there are some on the 7th floor south inner courtyard rooms blocking a couple of balconies.

There are also some on the south wing facing WL DVC. Pictures to come.

Ok the last one....
I've never been to WL, but the pictures I have seen of the trees being cut by the boat dock don't bother me. In fact, I like the look. They didn't clearcut the area, so I'm thinking this was maintenance. The scaffolding is unsightly, but I haven't seen anything so far that would cause me to switch resorts. Still hanging in there for May '16.

We were the first to be dropped off!!!
We have stayed at the WL five times and have never been dropped off first. Congratulations. ;)

And the most important one I feel everyone is wondering about....

Thanks for posting the picture by the boat dock walkway. I'll have to wait until we get over there to see how it looks.

As far as the scaffolding goes, it look like they are doing lots of exterior work. That is quite a project. Is it very noisy?
