Hi,

I am new here although have been registered a while im trying to become active so I thought I would start off posting with my recent trip report.

Just a little bit of background information before we start, im 15 from England and this was my 3rd time to Vero Beach and about 6th to WDW.

Anyway, we flew out from LHR on Sunday 17th August (I think) to MIA and then we hired a car and drove up to Vero Beach. We have been before and has always been awesome and this time was no different.
We checked in really quickly as we usually do and also this time we had some tickets for a baseball game (that was after WDW but wont mention that in this report) and the woman on check in just went to the safe as we had pre-arranged this before we went and gave us the tickets which was really good. Previously, we had stayed in a 2 bedroom villa in block 14 (explain more later why I say block 14) and then last year in a Beach Cottage. This year we stayed in the Inn. We had 2 rooms as there was 5 of us and we were surprised how big they were! So, we go to the Wal-Mart for things we need for the time there and in Orlando, grab something to eat at a local burger king and then get to bed as it had been a long day. Now before we came out, I had been tracking the path of TS Fay. Knowing it would near FL before it came and the chance it would pass over the whole of the state, we thought it would only be the first and maybe second day there. How wrong we were. The storm was stationary over where we were meaning there was a lot of rain and strong winds. We were lucky we stayed in the Inn as we could go to the lobby and move about a bit. The CM's also put on rainy day activities although all of these were for the younger kids there, so I just didnt do much for those days. They did try though and it was hard for them to entertain everyone on the third day. Now block 14 had power outages and rooms were being flooded and they kept being told it was about to be fixed however it wasn't and I know of one family who was next door to us who was moved into the Inn or another room. It was our last day there then and we actually got to go in the pool for a bit. The CM's had cleaned the poolside up the previous day however there was still a lot of debry in the pool from trees and such that needed to be cleaned. The rain came again that day so we were inside again. The stay was good overall, the CM's tried and we still love that resort and I am sure we will go back again.

On the Friday we then drove up to Orlando and stayed at Old Key West as we are DVC members. Again, check in was very efficient and we had someone on check-in 'Earning their Ears' and was being trained there however she was very good. We arrived about 2pm and the room in the block we requested was not ready. She was very good in telling us the room and block and if we wanted to get in straight away, she gave us the option of other rooms that were already cleaned. So we chose another room, next door to where we had stayed before in Old Turtle Pond. Not far of a walk from the main house, shop etc either. We then took the car back and once again, the rain came. We waited for a bus to go back to OKW and seemed like forever, at least 40 minutes but why when it is so close? Anyway, we then went in the pool which was cold as well but with the lack of sun from Fay, it was expected. We were then told by the lifeguards we had to get out due to unscheduled cleaning. We saw them take a sample of the water and test it with several chemicals, no idea why but in about 20 minutes, it was back open again and a lifeguard came in the pool and played Marco Polo with us as the pool wasnt busy and there were a few other teens in the pool. That night we went to POR for something to eat. We had stayed here before and really liked it and the food court had been refubished so we went to eat there. Well it is now so different. The atmosphere is really full on there now so I wouldnt stay there again. However to get there we were planning to get a bus to DD (closest place) and then from there get a bus or the boat to POR. Well we waited ages for a bus to DD and one never came, easily 30 mins and once again why when it is so close so we ended up getting one to Epcot then to POR but that was fine. The parks were awesome as usual and as per usual, always awesome CM's in there.

I'm not sure if this is too long or whatever but its my first one so I wasn't sure.
