I cannot understand what made Disney do a remake of The Parent Trap in 1998? Because I think the only reason why this remake was a hit was because it was Lindsay Lohan's debut movie and although it's a good remake I think this was the film that made Disney begin a long relationship with Lindsay Lohan and this film was her star vehicle that would make her famous. And Dennis Quaid and the late Natasha Richardson do amazingly good jobs in this movie. What could've made this The Parent Trap remake even greater was having Lindsay Lohan sing The Parent Trap's signature song Let's Get Together like Hayley Mills did in the original The Parent Trap

I love old movies, but I can understand why a movie from the early 1960s with very dated fashion, slang, dancing, and references might be a harder sell for young children and young teenagers in the late 1990s.

I didn't think I would like the 1998 remake of The Parent Trap but to my surprise I liked it and for Lindsay Lohan this movie was one where she really hit a home run for a young actress. Before that Lindsay was a commercial actress appearing in commercials for Jello and Duncan Hines and who knew those commercials would lead her to The Parent Trap remake. How much did The Parent Trap remake make in theaters and was it well received by critics?
