Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

Are they blocking off rooms in Alligator Bayou or moving people around because of the construction in the other buildings?

The only building that is closed at the moment is Mansion Building #90. All of AB is open.

I don't know why, but there is no availability at all from 16th-20th July, with plenty of options either side of those dates. Perhaps there is an event on (sports, etc?) during that time?

We stay on property multiple times a year, but we have not stayed at POR since it was called Dixie Landings…just to give you an idea of how long it has been 😂. Anyways, we have family staying at POR and we are staying at FQ. We know it’s not guaranteed, but which room would you try to get to be closer to FQ? How’s the walk? (All able bodied people.)

The mansion rooms are the closest to POFQ. 2 of these buildings are the royal rooms. It's a leisurely 10 min walk between the 2. If your rooms are the furthest away at each resort, maybe 20 minutes.

The closest to POFQ would be the Royal Rooms in POR building 95. The next closest would be Standard/Woods/River rooms in building 90. Avoid the 5th Sleeper Rooms as they are in the Alligator Bayou section which is a bit further away. Building 7 at FQ is the closest to Riverside.

Thank you. I appreciate your help.

Do the rooms have shampoo / conditioner / body wash dispensers in the shower? Or just the tiny bottles? My daughters and I all have long hair and are wondering if we need to bring our own conditioner (because the tiny bottles won't be enough).

Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are available in dispensers in the shower.

Has anyone stayed at the Drury and POR? Torn between the two - love that POR has a 5th sleeper because we love having an extra bed option, and POR seems quiet and more peaceful than Drury, plus has transportation. However, Drury has walking distance to DS and free breakfast (for me, other family members don't eat breakfast). I know there is the boat and bus to DS. Is the bus to DS frequent enough and fast enough? 520.00 cheaper for 5 nights at Drury. TIA!

I think what you are asking is a “value” question and only you can determine if it’s worth spending $520 more to stay at POR. For me, the answer is always yes. I enjoy staying at a WDW resort and the Moderates are the price point that works best for me. I don’t stay at Values because it’s not worth it to me to save some money but lose the peaceful experience. I don’t stay at Deluxes because it’s not worth spending double to have shorter/no bus rides along with the other upgrades. But we do WDW somewhat relaxed. If I was just going to be at the parks all day every day I would probably consider Values or offsite options. But since we spend about half our time outside the parks, POR is my go to. Peaceful, easy access to DS (we like the boat) and busses to anywhere don’t bother us. Plus the walk to FQ for beignets is a bonus. As far as the bus from POR to DS, as I said we almost always take the boat but I recall the bus being a pretty quick trip as they are relatively close.

Agree with the above poster, only you can decide if $100+/night is worth it. The bus stops at the parks are closer, generally, with POR. The buses run much more frequent as well. The 5th sleeper is not a full bed and would be very tight with it down in the room. However it is nice to have. POR is a large resort with winding paths that, although very pretty, make it difficult to get from point A to point B. Drury also offers the evening kickback with 3 free alcoholic drinks and dinner. Free popcorn and soda all day. So I think decide what's most important to you
$520 can buy a lot of Uber rides

Question about Royal Room renos. (Apologies if I missed this in an earlier post, please feel free to direct me to it.). We are booked for a royal room, woods view the last weekend in October for Wine & Dine. I read on the Port Orleans site that Paterre Place will be the only royal rooms after the refurb, but it seems to be the last being completed for renovations? Is it likely they will be ready for our stay? I looked at availability for the weekend, and there are no other rmoderates available. It's making me a little nervous....

Yes, building 95 is now the only one with Royal Rooms (when 90 reopens, it will have standard rooms).

Current plans have building 95 as the last one to be refurbished, so it definitely won't be done by October. Given that they've got to do 90, 85 and 80 first, I would think it's unlikely that 95 will be closed by then, but it is still possible as they have already overlapped the end of work on 90 with the start of preparation work on 85 last week.

What is pretty certain is that there will be a 2-3 month period towards the end of this year and into the start of next year when there may be no Royal Rooms available at all, and any guests who are booked into one during that time will have to be relocated. That's unless they work on different parts of the building separately anyway, which would probably be possible given the central block / twin wings layout.
