Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

I’ve booked a 5th sleeper woods view for a stay July 2-4. I’m reading conflicting info as to whether these rooms will be refurbed by the time of our stay. I’m not having luck finding photos if they have been. Thoughts?

No conflict - I never know where these sort of stories come from!

Suffice to say that none of this year's Riverside refurbishments will be completed by then, as they hadn't even got started as of a few days ago. Also they will only be working on the four Magnilia Bend mansion buildings this year anyway, not any of the Alligator Bayou ("5th Sleeper") lodges. So your room will be as per the 2019 refit, which is actually relatively recent given that the whole resort was closed down for 18 months during COVID.

For more details, layout plans, and 360-degree images of each of the room types at Port Orleans, see https://www.portorleans.org/rooms.php

Is anyone staying in the Magnolia area during construction? We are currently booked at FQ in July but we could save about $700 for that week if we switch and book woods view at RS. Just wondering if we would regret that change? It will be myself, daughter and 2 year old grandson. Thanks for any advice.

I'd go for it. Only one building out of the four will be closed at any given time, and by July they may not even have finished with the first one (90). Put in a request to be as far away from the works as possible if you want, just to be extra sure.

Thanks so much!!!!

We have never stayed at a pet friendly resort. I love dogs, we have two, but I am not sure about staying in a room that is in a pet friendly area. If we book the woods view category it looks like building 80 is one of the ones that guest with dogs stay in. Does anyone ever request NOT to be in this building in that category? I know requests are just that and can't be guaranteed. TIA!!!

They mostly try to use Alligator Bayou 24 for pet dogs, but do remember that service dogs could have been in any building or room at any resort.

I wouldn't let it worry you anyway unless you have a severe allergy, they do a deeper clean-down after an animal has been present.

Oh okay thanks so much!!!!

I'm checking out this morning. Anyone here that wants a bunch of bottled water for their trip? :) Don't want it to go to waste.

We booked a 5th sleeper room. We can put 2 adults and 3 kids in this room without an extra charge, correct?

Is there any way to book a room at POR with 5 adults? Our 21 year old daughter is only 5 feet tall and could easily fit on the 5th sleeper. My son just turned 18 so now all our kids are adults. We love POR and it is much more economical that other 5 person rooms. When on the Disney website POR won't even show up if I try to search for rooms for 5 adults. Will they accommodate us if we call instead?

The website says it will accommodate 4 adults - even the 5th sleeper rooms say that. You could call Disney and see what they say.

The rooms with accommodate 4 adults and one child which is why it isn't showing up as available when you try to book for 5 adults. You could book two rooms if you really wanted POR. I know that will do away with the "economical" side of things but it'd still get you a stay at POR.

Thanks @Wood Nymph and @mickeystoontown. I think it would be best to call. Yeah too cost prohibitive for two room at POR. For our proposed 7 night stay that would add about $1747. At that point would look at two rooms at POP instead, with the other option being a Deluxe that sleeps 5.

When the rooms were originally released, they were listed as being suitable for five adults. However, the person sleeping on the fold-down bed would really need to be under about 5'3" - 5'5", so they got complaints and changed the terms to four adults and one child 3-17. The only way to book it would be to mis-declare one of their ages, but that would lose Disney $25/night revenue for the extra adult so it's not a no-loss scenario and I wouldn't recommend it.
