Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

They work fine if you can throw them into the washer tub itself. But I was at a hotel once where you had to put the detergent into a small dispenser thing in a special kind of HE washer, and the pods won't work in there, since the water isn't in that part to dissolve them - they got all gooey and gooked up.
I've always just thrown them (pods) in with the clothes.

Are there large (liter) bottles of water for sale? I drink 3 liters of water a day and buying bigger bottles may be easier. Thanks!

It's either small or large Dasani bottles, or 1 gallon bottles which you could decant into smaller ones if you want.

If you drink that much water (as I do), you may want to have some shipped to your resort. Some people order from Amazon or Staples. I usually get a Garden Grocer order together. I get water and then order a bunch of fruit, and other things I don't want to pack in my luggage.

I couldn't get all of our days on one reservation, so we are staying our first night then checking out the next day and re-checking in for the remainder of our stay. Two different room categories. We are ordering a case of water along with fruit and veggies that will need to stay cold.

I'm wondering if I should just wait until we re-check in for the long stay to have our Garden Grocer order delivered or can Bell Services hold onto it with our luggage until our room is ready and we come back from the parks. What do you all think? Thanks in advance!

I actually did that this year. When I checked in, I needed a room on the first floor and they didn't have one, so they were going to move me the next day. I called bell services and asked if I could have my groceries delivered the next day after I was moved. They said that wouldn't be a problem. Or, you could just choose the second day as the delivery date. Then you wouldn't have to worry about it.

I know Disney is supplying bug repellant at parks...but is there anything available at the resorts? I always seem to get bit and was wondering if I have to pack bug spray.

We had a bottle in our room 2 weeks ago (at CBR). I know other resorts were leaving them as well.

Not specifically at Disney, but I've always just thrown the pods in with the clothing even when the washer has a detergent dispenser, and it's always worked fine. Our washer is like this at our farm office - I'm forever washing the guys nasty work clothes when they change midday and everything always comes out clean. Well, as clean as clothes covered in hydralic fluid or grease will get :P
That's what I was saying too. I assumed that is how they worked but wasn't sure having never done laundry with them

We where there while they started giving out the bug spray. They actually put it in our room, plus it was all over the parks. No idea if they've continued to put it in the rooms or not but I assume so.

Thank you all with such kind words. With so much going on medical and personal, it is taking a lot out of me. I may take a trip into the parks tomorrow and go by POR, it has been a a couple of weeks. But Disney is my life!

Go and say hi to David if you make it over to POR - I'm sure he would be very surprised indeed to see you...

There was a can of "OFF" in the room last week. Never saw a mosquito or any other bugs, though.

I'm sure. POR would be pretty good medicine if you ask me. I could use a trip over there right about now myself.

Just received the email from our TA confirming our March trip to POR for 10 nights 3/9 - 3/19, this will be our 7th stay:goodvibes at this wonderful resort. Now the the worst part, waiting for it to get here:bored:

Right? I really could use a vacation at my other home right now.

Incidentally, have you noticed that that Acadian/Magnolia 'picket fencing' isn't actually wood at all, it's slot-in UPVC plastic? The same stuff they make double-glazed window surrounds and plastic garden furniture from. I gather than the current fences at both of the mansion buildings don't meet the new code and will be replaced, hopefully a bit more sympathetically to the theming.

Andre, I wonder if what we saw last week was them replacing the fence because they were definitely inserting slats into the white fencing and each day we walked by more was completed. Either way I am really happy that the plan is not to lock the gates because we just don't make it back from the parks in time to swim unless it is late.
