Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

We arrive at POFQ in a couple of weeks! I have a weird question about Amazon. I'm going to order some things through Prime Pantry. We arrive fairly early in the day, before noon, so we should be out at the parks when Magical Express delivers our luggage. Does anyone know if they deliver the packages at the same time as luggage, or will we need to stop by bell services and pick them up/ask they be delivered later?
Can you tell me more about Prime Pantry and what you would order? I was thinking of having some disney gifts sent ahead of time that my girls wouldn't know about, and ask housekeeping if they could set them up in the room as a surprise.

Is the atmosphere at POFQ fun for kids? Does it feel like a Disney experience? It looks clean and has pretty landscaping with a nice New Orleans theme, but what do kids think? I know as an adult, I'll like it. I have a 4 and 8 year old.

I think it is! From being greeted at the door with Mardi Gras beads- and a cool coin if you happen to meet one of the awesome gentleman that work there (who are great at engaging kids of all ages)- to the lively lobby that hosts music performances, to the food court with huge decorations and a wonderful variety of meals, to the pool and new water play area for younger kids, the boats that take you to Disney Springs and even walking along the river, the movies on the lawn several nights a week, and the fact that walking around the resort is like walking through streets which seems neat to kids.

We stayed there 2 weeks ago with our 6 and 3 year olds. They loved the resort. Especially the pool and the new splash area.

Prime Pantry is an Amazon service, it's for groceries. We're mainly using it to get a few cases of water. I also threw in some Nature Valley bars, and other snacks for the room.

I have to admit, I'm disappointed to hear this. I was hoping to snag a discount for our next trip and stay at POFQ. But the discounts don't work here, then I guess I'll have to look more at POR.

I got a promo code from Cheap Tickets that worked there for this coming July. I didn't see any from Disney though, including the AP discounts. Have you checked Cheap Tickets or Orbitz?

I just got back yesterday from a week at POFQ and the splash area looks great, and kids were playing and enjoying it. Pool and pool games/activities also appeared popular. I don't have kids, but always see lots of families around (all ages), and it's just such a laid back, homey place, I'd have a hard time, after 4 stays in a row there, staying anywhere else now.

We'll be arriving for our Spring multi room trip on Saturday, and am so glad to be coming back to FQ. Love this place!!!

Another trip late fall, I was hoping for the free dining offer, but it's doubtful that FQ will be included in the FD Special Offer. I wonder if a RO, or AP Discount would include FQ in late fall? Anyone have a guess?

At the end of the day, I would rather stay in FQ even if it means we can't get a discount. I switched to Coronado Springs to take advantage of FD a couple of years ago, and really didn't care for it. I'm thinking that the other big, multi-bus stop resorts would be the same story for me. Not putting any of them down, just prefer FQ.

I was beyond impressed with PoFQ. We just returned from a week stay after routinely staying at deluxe resorts for the past visits. I would go back to PoFQ or POR in an instant.

Given that deluxe resorts have become so unreasonably expensive, I can see us returning here for our 2017 visit.

The Pros- Small, compact, & quiet resort. The main pool was relatively quiet. Very clean rooms. Best bus service we've experienced on any trip.

The Cons- Uncomfortable beds, less than "magical" CMs at the Food Court (they looked so sad; frowning), small bathrooms

I thought not. My husband really wants to stay there. I'm trying to work it out so we can stay there but unless we cancel with our current travel agent and book a different agency I don't see it happening. And I'll feel like a jerk if I do that even though it would make this possible and I could surprise him
Not very often, nor does it usually get the free dining offers. But you can never really predict what Disney will do next.

I'd like to use a hanging shoe organizer at POFQ when I go next month to keep the room tidy. Is there a door in the rooms that would work for this? I couldn't tell from the photos I've seen. Thanks!
