Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

Year before last there was 3 of us over 3 (me, DW, and DS5) and DS2+ with no issues?

Excellent. Thank you!

Did your kids both bed share or did you have a pack n play and/or a blow up bed or roll away cot?

We bed shared but I do recall a cot or something was available if we needed i (never considered so can't fully remember), and we had a twin air mattress as well

Potentially dumb question:

If you book a Room with a king bed, is the maximum occupancy 2 + 1 under 3 years or can you have a 3rd over 3 years in that room? I'm thinking either with an extra bed or if it's parents and a preschooler who bed shares.

Anyone?

I'm pretty sure you would have to be in an Alligator Bayou king room in order to have 4 in the room since the Alligator Bayou rooms have the Murphy bed, which means that those rooms have a capacity of 3 + 1 under 3.

You would not be able to do this at French Quarter as the Kings rooms at French Quarter have a maximum occupancy of 2 adults and 1 child Under 3 yrs. old. The King rooms in the Alligator Bayou section of Riverside have a Murphy Bed so their maximum occupancy is 3 + 1 Under 3 yrs. old.

So who has tried this at the food court yet? Seems to have been introduced a few days ago.

Ooo! I was "ok" with still being an entire week away until the moment I saw this! I'm sure someone else will post a review sooner, but I'll add my $.02 when I get the chance.

Does anyone know how often French Quarter is included in the room discounts? I'm between here and Riverside, but really like the idea of discounts. I mean, with Disney prices, who isn't!

Not very often, but I got one for my trip coming up next week...I happened to see a ad on a website I was on for a percentage off and when I went to go check, POFQ was included! So I got some money off of my room....the current room reduction doesn't include POFQ so, it's really hit or miss....

It's rarely included. And when it is, it's been 5% off when other Moderates are 20%. But you never know. You can make your decision once discounts are released for your dates.l, book the one with the best discount.

I booked recently through Orbitz with one of their 15% promotions. It is a bit of a headache now to use Orbitz for Disney because they no longer include in the email confirmations the reservation number you need to enter in MDE. You have to call to get that number. Other than that, your reservation will be the same.

Two weeks ago, I received a pin code in the mail for a room discount with free park hopper tickets. After nagging my husband about it, yesterday he let me book a standard room at POFQ with this code! There is still a chance (unfortunately) that we may cancel but getting discounts at FQ seem to be few and far between. I hope we don't cancel. The new water area for kids looks great for my son and we've never had park hopper tickets before (and may only use it for one day). We usually rent a car as well but I'm hoping not to this time. I'd rather not lug little man's car seat and I would never rent one

We haven't been at FQ since our honeymoon in August 2009.

It is always better to book and possibly cancel, rather than not to book and then find you are free but the offer has disappeared.

I was surprised when we got a discount for our January trip. I had heard that FQ was usually excluded, but it was included in the resort discounts offered January. Wasn't huge, but every little bit helps when we have tuition bills coming up as well!

I got a good discount for POFQ in May with a BB. It ended up averaging $138 per night before tax (2 people). Last year I booked a last minute reservation at POFQ for late August (3 weeks before travel) via Orbitz and the room price before tax was also about $138 per night.

Question. We have a group rate at POFQ this summer and had a family back out. Am I allowed to ask on the DISBoards to see if anyone would like to use our rate? I read the posting guidelines and while we're just a group of teachers and not a commercial venture... perhaps, such a post could be soliciting (which isn't allowed). I just don't want to break the terms of use.

Connecting rooms question...

We have booked 2 rooms at POFQ. We are two adults with four kids. We have been assured connecting rooms because the kids outnumber the adults. (I knew there was a reason for having so many kids!) My question is...Is it possible to get a King room connected to a 2 Queen room? What a truly magical vacation that would be!!

Never mind...I found Andre's great website and the explicit room layout maps. It looks like it is a possibility, but not the easiest combo to come by. Fingers crossed for pixie dust!

Actually, in spite of what you were told, connecting rooms cannot be guaranteed, even though the kids outnumber the adults.

So, this is probably a totally off the wall question, but does anybody know if the resort has a freezer for that I could access during my stay?

I am bringing my 4 year old to Disney for four nights next month while my husband stays home with our infant. I currently breastfeed and will be pumping and would like to freeze and transport as much of my pumped milk home as possible.

I know the rooms do not have freezers, but I have read that bell hop at each resort has a freezer for guest use if needed....does anybody know if this is true? I technically could dump the milk, but I will be using my whole freezer stash while I am gone so it would be nice to come home with something!
