Resort Thread Disney's POP CENTURY Resort

Hello 👋 I've just moved our August/September 23 trip to Pop it will be our first time at the resort. We have 2 rooms booked as a family of 5 I'll be glad for the extra room. We will be travelling with a 3-year-old does Pop have bed guards available? I did look on the 1st page but might have missed it.
Yes , they have bed guards. Just call housekeeping and they will bring them to you.

Glad they have bed rails. I know they did in the past when my daughter was younger.

At 3 it may not work but in a pinch I rolled towels and placed them between the mattress and bottom sheet and those were a great help when I was somewhere that didn’t have bed rails.

Just checked in to Pop today. In the recent past we’ve stayed at Bay Lake Tower and Beach Club. We’re fairly easy going, we don’t usually stay at fancy places outside of Disney.

When we pulled up to Pop I was a bit worried, the initial intro seemed to really say ‘budget motel’, but once we got into our room we were impressed. The interiors were nice and seemed recently done or we’ll maintained. I see what people mean when they say Pop is good value; the rooms are nice and the price is good for Disney property. I think the exterior is a bit of a turn off but in the end that doesn’t impact your stay like the actual room. Let’s see how the skyliner goes and maybe we’ll be converts.

The values definitely don't compare to the deluxe resorts, but they're a lot of fun! And the Skyliner is a game changer!! It's like an attraction in itself, lol. I hope you enjoy your trip! :)

Be sure to go by Classic Hall and check out the Shadow Boxes-most unique thing in any WDW Resort regardless of level IMO. :)

What is the best (easiest) way to travel from Pop to Boatwrights? Also, what about to Olivia's? Having dinners there on our two "rest" days. I figure we will need to take buses to a park or Disney Springs and then to the resort. Hope someone has a short cut. But Uber and Minnie Vans are not an option. Thanks in advance.
I screwed up my answer earlier so I’m editing now. I would take the Skyliner to HS, then hop a bus to whatever resort you want.

I would like to be close to the Skyliner (ideally lakeview) so I booked preferred. But looking a tthe maps, it looks most lakeview rooms are actually standard view. Should I switch my category (and save a little money)? Or give up the chance of lakeview so that I don't risk being too far from the Skyliner. Opinions? :)
Just because you book preferred doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be close to the Skyliner. You could end up very close to the main building and nowhere near the lake either.

You could take skyway to HS and catch bus to other resorts from there.

Thank you so much that's great to know.

Unfortunately, my wiggly little girl just rolls over towels when I've tried them 🙈 I'm hoping by next year she may be a little less acrobatic in her sleep 🤣

I think FAX technology might be obsolete. POP fax has a busy signal. I've tried several days in a row. Just wanted to request a room near the skyliner. I guess I could call.

True! We booked standard and got building 6, lake view, and short walk to the skyliner. We loved the location.

If you use Touring Plans they have a room request form that they will fax for you at 30 days out. They have a layout of the resort including room numbers and usually a picture of the view out the door. You can request a specific room with them. I’ve had good success them, but I also have to have a handicapped accessible room and my options are already very limited. For POP my closest option for Skyliner was a standard room in building 5. My trip is in 30 days so TP should be sending over my room request today and we’ll see if we get it. Last year I used it at CBR to get a room halfway between the Skyliner and Old Port Royale and it was the BEST location!

Is this part of their paid plan?

Also, I'm wondering if anyone has had success requesting both a King room and a specific building? My priority would be king, but I would also like 50s, 60s, or 70s building.

Last thing, I had a note to myself to call in my room request 5 days before checking in. Should this be 30 days out instead?

Thanks!

Most king rooms at Pop are also accessible rooms. If you really want a king room I would not add any other requests and even at that, there is no guarantee that a king room will be assigned.
