Resort Thread Disney's POP CENTURY Resort

Lots of branch debris around the Pop resort which is to be expected. Misty and gusts of strong wind. Food court is back open serving lunch. Haven’t been to the lobby area yet. Pretty busy but manageable which is crazy as the resort holds a lot of people.

Pop is more challenging during a hurricane than some of the other Disney resorts due to room doors opening to the outdoors. We were there in the past when a hurricane was possibly forming so stocked up a bit but ended up not needing it.

Hope everyone there stays safe and that things are soon back to normal.
That's one area where Universal has the advantage. Only part of one resort (Cabana Bay) has exterior entry rooms. And I think only Portofino has separate buildings which require you to walk totally exposed at some point between. We rode out the hurricane at Dockside, which has a short semi-protected breezeway between the towers and main building.

We are staying in a standard room in May. I will have my family with us. We have 3 standard rooms booked. We are hoping for a discount. Right now the only discount is for standard pool view. Anyone go last year Mother’s Day week? Did you get a discount and were crowds low?

Anyone have any idea when December of 2025 will open for bookings? My TA is keeping an eye out for it (a friend that I actually met through these boards!), but I am getting impatient. I just want to be able to budget as this is an additional trip then I already had planned for.

There is a deal out right now that covers your dates -- you could save $60 per night at Pop on a minimum 3 Night stay (up to a maximum of 14 nights).

We usually go in June and promotions for our dates have come out anywhere between November and March. I'm sure more deals will come out for your travel dates over the next few months. You'll just need to keep watching for those promos and go online or call Disney to apply them to your reservation. Or if you booked with a TA, they should take care of getting the promo for you when it comes out. My TA always takes care of that for us.

Yes I seen that deal, but it only includes standard pool room. We were looking for a discount on a standard room. Thanks for the info anyway.

I will say I've never quite understood the draw of the 'standard pool view room' as to me these are some of the most undesirable areas of the resort - with the exception of buildings 1 and 3 which are not too bad.

Well, like I said, more discounts will come out in the next few months. Just keep your eyes open. In our ten trips over the last 20 years, we've *always* been able to get a promotional rate for our stays in June (and one trip in May) and usually had a choice of 2 or 3 different promo rates. Something will come along for your dates.

Our 50’s standard pool view 4th floor room was awesome. I’d pay the extra few bucks to book it again 😁

We had what is now a standard pool view room (actually, we had 2 connecting rooms) at Pop, Bldg. 2, about 15 years ago. We didn't find them to be anything special at all and would never pay more money for them. They were a *long* walk from the food court and bus stop. I'd be more likely to pay extra money to *not* face the pool and be closer to the main building. On our next trip, we were assigned rooms in the same spot (just the floor below -- but the exact same room locations) and we asked to be moved somewhere else. We were much happier with the new location...not facing a pool and closer to the bus stops and food court. I'm glad some people like those pool facing rooms because it leaves the quieter rooms open for the rest of us. :D

We had a similar location in Aug and asked to be moved after our 1 night reservation and prior to our 8 night reservation. We were placed in the furthest room, 3rd floor of building 1, above the bowling pin laundry. (We had booked standard room but were 'upgraded' to this room.) After our first walk to the room I knew I'd be requesting a room location change between our reservations. Some like these locations but for us we found it a really far walk to food court, buses and especially the Skyliner. I will keep 'less desirable' locations for shorter trips but for anything more than 3 nights I like to be closer to transportation and am willing to wait for a room to be cleaned or, move the following day. I like to unpack and don't really feel settled until we do but the sense of relief we felt after being moved in Aug was like a huge weight was lifted from our shoulders!

I am going this May 14-20 with BB discount and hoping for a better discount to come along.

Have there been any reports or has anyone had any experience with the reopened food court? How has it been with wait times and seating? It looks like I will be there from 10/27-10/30 and was curious. Seen a lot of pictures, but not a lot of reports.

Not sure I'm going to take advantage of it a lot, since I'll probably be eating elsewhere, but it would be nice to be able to count on it a couple of times. I used to like it the last time we stayed there years ago.
