Resort Thread Disney's POP CENTURY Resort

Pop doesn’t share buses. Drops you off at the entrance to Magic Kingdom.

Can’t help with Preferred Pool View room … yet! Booked that category for our next trip in August! 🥳

Two questions:

1: I looked at the first posts and tried searching but it was too many pages. Where does the bus to MK drop you and does POP MK bus share with other resorts?
The MK bus drops you off at the same bus terminal as all resorts. If you have stayed at any resort you know where it is. If you haven't I can be more specific.
2: Preferred Pool View: Ground floor rooms, super loud? We're likely to be out most of of the time anyway. Where are the elevators in those buildings?
I found the Preferred Pool View room to be way too loud. The elevators are located at the center of each building.

Thanks! We haven't stay on property since 2001 and those shared busses from Port Orleans were horrific! Since then we decided to stay off property cuz it was cheaper and easier to transport & park with our HC placard. We will have to schedule a break from MK to do a local monorail loop trip then. My rail fan!!

I hope you have a great trip! Please come back and update on your room. We're stuck in the too many options zone. I know we'll be fine where ever as long as we don't have to walk too far from any one point to access transportation & food options.

All Disney resort buses drop at the bus stops just outside the MK entrance.

No, Pop does not share with other resorts but you can use Art of Animation buses and walk across the bridge that joins the 2 resorts.

Preferred pool view are in the busiest location. Personally I would not choose ground floor in that location due to the foot traffic in front of your room but that’s me.

Each building has elevators in the centre of the ‘T’.

We stayed at Pop the first week of February and were given what my wife dubbed a "Flat Room". This type of room didn't have the angled window in the front, but a flat wall. The other big change was that the sink was in with the toilet and shower instead of being in its own area. This was something we did not enjoy. We also found the bed to be super low, but we couldn't remember if this was normal or just something in our room.

We didn't request a room change since this was the second half of a split stay week. We'll know next time to request a different room if we wind up in one like this again.

I also learned this trip to not be late for an Epcot Skyliner rope drop. We didn't have this issue our last trip, but it was our fault. It also didn't help that the Pop portion of the Skyliner wasn't combining groups.

I'm guessing you were assigned an accessible room.

That was my first thought, too. Especially due to the bathroom configuration.
Yes, you were 100% assigned an accessible room.

Thanks. That's what we thought but the room had a regular tub/shower instead of a roll-in shower like the accessible rooms I've had in the past.
Thanks. There are a variety of accessible rooms as not all guests who require an accessible room require an accessible, roll-in shower. Unfortunately we do not have a list of which rooms have which form of accessibility set-up.

Would trying to keep a list like this on page 1 be helpful to guests who require the use of an accessible room? Gathering infomation would purely be based upon guests sharing their experiences and I could update a main post.

Please let me know if this information would be helpful to anyone.

Sounds like a good idea to me. We had Room 1451 and the other one beside us (1452) appeared the same from the outside.

Thank you. I will add this information to post 1.

I won't add room 1452 at this time as even though an accessible room can look the same from the outside, the actual layout on the inside can differ.

That useful room layout map in post #2 might still be proving its ongoing value. It labels the "51" rooms as accessible.

Can you tell me more about rope dropping the skyliner? What time do you feel you should've been in line to be one of the firsts?

Just stayed at Pop last week for the first time since 2019. I'm wondering if it's always so LOUD now everywhere since the refurbs or were we just in a terrible room?
Starting at 6am we could hear nonstop door slamming, feet stomping above, toilets flushing!!, and screaming, crying, laughing. It was completely awful. Pop has always been our favorite resort, even above moderates, until this trip. We have conjectured that maybe the change from carpeting to the hard vinyl floor causes sounds to bounce and carry more. We were in a first floor room but have had one before with no sound issues. In fact, our 2019 stay was a first floor in 60's near the pool and it wasn't close to the noise level we had this time in 50's Building 1, theoretically a quiet building.

Would like to hear some other experiences so I know if we should ever go back there again or not. :sad1: At this stage, we prefer to stay up later than to rope drop and sleeping in was NOT an option last week. Thankfully it was only 3 nights of a split stay but yeesh.

It seems you had a bad room/neighbours. Your last visit was in 2019. Did you encounter the same challenges then?

All room renovations at Pop were completed by Jun of 2018 so it appears you would have stayed in a refurbished room in the past.

We have stayed at Pop many times both pre and post renovations. Many of the sounds you've shared we've heard pre and post renovations but most times they were not bothersome, just 'there' if we listened for them. For us, the time we heard the most was from inconsiderate neighbours pre-refurb who felt 2AM was a great time to yell, jump and bang around their room.

Sadly it appears you had inconsiderate upstairs neighbours which is disappointing for sure! Why people don't consider those around them, I'll never understand.

Did you possibly have a room with a connecting door? Possibly request a room without that in the future? If that isn't possible, others have shared rolling up a towel and laying it on the floor between the connecting rooms helps buffer the sounds.

Sounds can occasionally be heard between rooms but, for us, it's not normally to the point where it affects our stay.

Hope if you choose to return to Pop that your experience is better next time. I would say your experience was not the norm.
