Someone should absolutely have offered you a seat!!!
While I 100% agree that someone should offer a seat, sometimes the buses are so crowded it makes giving up your seat even more obtrusive than just remaining sitting. My sons (teens) always offer up their seats--and I would too for anyone who obviously needs it more than me (pregnant, elderly, obviously disabled/ill, etc.) But sometimes you see that person standing way on the other side of the bus, and there are people standing right in front of your seat, and there's really no way to move...
I wish there was a clear way to make sure when you stand up, the person you intend to get your seat gets it--because when I've tried in the past, sure enough, some able bodied 20-something slides right into it!

You make some great points.:)

The buses are really one of the more "interesting" experiences on a WDW vacation!

I always find it "humorous" on late-night buses returning to the resort seeing everybody "laid out" asleep or "nodding off" everywhere from complete exhaustion!lol:)

:)

And sometimes I try so hard! :)
Seriously, so many times I see older gentlemen that have a lot of pride--no way do they want to sit down while a lady stands! But I can see that they really should be seated. So I try to do it very discreetly....just casually stand up...stretch..."No really, you'd be doing ME a favor by sitting there so I have more room to stretch!" etc. But yeah...someone else will sit in the seat...

The earlier the better!lol:)

The main thing is to be sure to catch the FIRST DAK bus.

Just an FYI,the first bus to DAK during our trip in January at All-Star Sports came at 7:07 AM for a non-EMH regular 9:00 AM open.

With it being an AM EMH however, the first bus to DAK "should" come well before then.:)

One cool thing is the Bus Boards have a new display and it is so much better than the original display.

I don't know how we got by without the Bus Boards!:)

Here is the new display and the old display-HUGE improvement!

Wow! Thanks for the side by side pics! They really have changed more than I realized as I'd forgotten how hard they were to read in the past, especially in the bright sun!

Thanks for those pics! I love the new screens. They are much nicer looking, and they providea lot more info (I like that they have the park opening times!) I can't wait until our trip in May! Just a little bit over 2 months to go!

@WEDWDW That new display is fantastic!! I love the additional information (park hours, weather forecast, etc...).
Now we just need them to put Bus Boards at the Parks, put the info on Resort TV and on MDE!:)

I have no info, but I wouldn't be shocked to see all that happen at some point.

If it does happen,I think it will just "appear" one day like the new displays did.:)

I've decided I like having a car rental because I can leave property (to do things like go to Publix) and I find it easier/faster to drive to get to Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. (MK I'll still take the bus.) But I started renting a car for flexibility, not because using the buses was ever a specific issue or factor to make me not want to use them.

We have a car rental for the first two days of our stay because my husband really wants to go to Universal...considering keeping it the whole stay. We did the Mears bus to Universal in the past, but it was not a good experience..and that was when it was just the two of us. Throwing a 2 year old into the mix, the rental car just sounded easier. Hoping for one of us to do a publix run the first night after our DD goes to bed.

We've always used the buses in the past...but I've never been to Disney in the heat of summer or with a child...little nervous about that part!

Also, we have a Preferred Room and are stay is at end of July/early August...sooo that should be pretty good odds of being in a refurbished room, right?

Has anyone else had issues with the resort charging you, your room charges early? We were planning to use gift cards we purchased prior to the trip (for gas perks) and the resort charged us (not our card on file either!) 3 days early. It’s caused a huge mess, and basically the resort telling us they can charge us our charges whenever they want and use whatever card, regardless if it’s our designated card or not.

Yikes! They always reassure me they do not charge until the last day unless you go over the amount you are allowed to have on your account.

I think they charge after your total bill hits a certain amount. I'm not sure what it is and I think depending on the hotel it changes. Thats why I go and pay at the end of every night.

My understanding is that they charge your CC once it reaches a certain amount. (At least $1000 or greater)

See that’s we we though too! But our total was only $874, my father who is in the room who they charged as well was $401. Going forward we are definitely going to pay at the end of every night. This is our first time having an issue, and it’s caused a huge headache. I was surprised when they told us at the desk this morning they can charge us at any time, and with any card that has been previously used :(

That’s what we thought, but we were at $874. They said they didn’t know why we were charged, but that they can charge you at any time. Our mistake for not going down nightly. I was just surprised. One of the managers was super nice and helped us out for the remainder of our stay until our bank releases our funds. I know now to be extra cautious going forward.

Were you two on the same reservation, if so they may have combined the totals.

Wow!!! That's good to know. Sorry that happened to you as $874 seems low to charge your cc mid-trip.

In the future, something you may wish to do if you are travelling with your father again, is to set it up so that his MB charges go to his CC and your charges go on your cc. I know this can be done.

Last fall 3 friends of mine went together. When the arrived they set it up so that 2 of the girls had their charges going to their own MBs and the 3rd one put cash against her band as she does not own a CC. It's a bit of work to set up in the beginning but much easier to figure out who owes what in the end. They went as far as getting 3 seperate bills at the TS restaurants so that each could pay the tip portion they were comfortable with.

They didn’t, they actually checked for that at the desk this morning :) the supervisor who I talked to was very helpful and he really did everything he could to help us out.

Just curious, were the charges $874 + $401 or, just $874? If it's the total of the 2 added together that's my guess why you were charged as the room charges in total were > $1000.

This is what we had set up, his card was linked to his MB, and our credit card was linked to my husband and I’s band. Somehow though they charged our debit card, which I used to make the deposit back in August, every other payment was made on our CC for our rewards, we link that card for that reason as well. But decided to use GCs for fuel perks this time. They’re not quite sure how it happened either, they were on the phone with billing for quiet some time and they couldn’t get it figured out. They helped as much as they could, now we just have to wait for the bank to refund us the money :( thankfully my Dad was able to get cash to give to us to hold us over since it overdrew our bank account! Now we know for next time to be more cautious and pay nightly.

Just $874, my dad was charged $401 to his correct card. But they checked to make sure they weren’t combined and they weren’t.
