For any general room request (view, room location, connecting rooms, etc.) please add this when making your reservation. Remember to limit your room requests to 3, with the most important request listed first. (Disney no longer encourages room requests via fax.) However, there has been a fluctuation on this issue throughout the resorts. If you would like to send a fax, please keep in mind to do so no sooner than 10 days prior to arrival or later than 4 days prior to arrival.

I will include that I faxed my room request last year- "connecting rooms, lakeview, top floor"
I was assigned connecting rooms (my main request), lake view, ground floor in building 2.
So my first 2 requests were met and I was beyond excited since those were my 2 most important BUT with that being said, I had these same requests added to my reservation and during on-line check in, I checked off lake view and fourth floor. So I am really not sure what they used to assign my rooms since I had them added everywhere that I could.

Here are the choices you will have during on-line check in:

POP does not accept faxed requests. Since the invention of online checkin, pretty much all hotels have done away with accepting faxed requests with the exception of a very select few. All of the other hotels just toss those requests.
Any room requests should be noted in your reservation or put in if you do online checkin. That is how it gets handled at POP. I have 125 nights there. I am pretty familiar with how things work at POP.

I'm actually not sure that this is true anymore about them not accepting faxes. Touring Plans currently has a room selection aspect to their site now that you can see the views from all rooms. And you can also have them fax your specific room requests for you. Or they give you the information to fax it yourself. It's been going good from what I've seen reported. So, I think faxing requests is back "on"

I have it set up for them to fax my request in January. I have also heard very good reports back from using them to do this.

Yes -- I saw they started this back in January. It seems like people have been really happy with the results. Those who have requested specific room numbers have usually either gotten that room or one very close by. I was going to try it for our trip in June but we were staying at AoA in a Lion King suite and all I really cared about was being close to the main building. Having stayed there before, I knew that any room in the Lion King area was going to be fairly close to the main building, so I didn't bother to go through Touring Plans for the room request, I just indicated my preferences during the standard online check-in (and got a great location).

How are the pools at the 1st of March....swimmable or brrrrrrrrrrrrrr? =)

The pools are great, heated to 82 degrees. Now getting OUT of the pool, that could be a whole 'nother thang!

I listened to a podcast with Len Testa explaining the room request fax, and I think the general consensus was to leave the online check in request blank unless you can make similar requests on both.

We plan on using the fax service in December and will probably leave out any requests for online check in because our main request is adjoining rooms and that is not an option for online check in. I do plan on calling Disney and adding the request to our reservations though.

I think the main idea is that you don't want two different requests that contradict each other. If you can make similar requests on both, it probably doesn't hurt to have it down twice.

Just wanted to make sure you are requesting exactly what you want. In Disney-speak:

Adjoining Rooms = Rooms near each other
Connecting Rooms = Rooms directly next to each other with an interior door connecting the two.

Many, many people have requested adjoining when the meant connecting.

I do plan on calling Disney and adding the request to our reservations though.

That is our preferred method for making room requests, always had great success. If you do call, then there's no need for a fax.

do they heat the pools year round? we're going in november, wasnt sure if i needed to pack bathing suits or leave them at home hahaha i figured night time swims probably woulndt be doable but maybe during the day if the sun was out?

Can anyone tell me if they are selling the cases of water in the Pop food court? I see that some resorts are selling them for $16.99/24 bottles and that would make it so much easier for us for our August trip. We won't have a car and it would make life so much easier! TIA!

You can ship water from Wal-Mart, Amazon Prime Pantry, Sam's Club, Costco of Staples for way cheaper than that and it will be waiting for you when you check into the hotel.

We are requesting a ground level floor on the 50's section and already have Preferred Level payed for.
I guess I may throw those two requests in along with the Fax.

We have four rooms reserved for the ten of us. We are hoping for two of them to be connecting with a door between and all of them adjoining--next to each other. Does that make sense? I guess I will have to figure out the exact wording so it's clear to the room assigners. I know there's no guarantee, but we are planning to make that our main request so hopefully we will get some pixie dust. My mom and BIL really want the 50's, and it would be most convenient for my parents to be close to Classic Hall. I hate to get too picky though because what we want most of all is to be located next to each other.

I have the phone number to the back office so when I call them to confirm my requests in about a week, I will specifically ask about faxes.
One of the managers gave me the number to the back office.... it is where the room assignors and the managers (on site at the hotel) work. It is the only way to get directly through to the hotel as the general number given to the public is routed to a call center. So I call and talk directly to my manager friend on site and make sure my requests are noted in my reservation so that way I don't have to worry about room assignments especially since I am going to be a late check in on my arrival day. Makes for a less stressful check in.

Trying to finalize our first trip to Disney this September and I think POP is the place to stay. The one question I have regards the 60s area. Would it be too much to request building four - lake view - upper floor? If my request is reasonable, would that be considered a standard room? I've read that the lake view rooms are a little quieter and the upper floors can see the fireworks from Epcot. The building four request is just because my four year old loves Play doh. Thanks, in advance, for your help!

Personally I think that is pretty narrow. By asking for just 1 bldg out of 2 in the 60's you have cut their options in half. Lake view eliminates about two thirds of the bldg and then putting in upper floor means 3rd or 4th floor. So that cuts their selection in half again! It really doesn't give them much to work with if the resort is full. And if it is, you may get nothing close to what you would like because you were so specific and there just wasn't anything available that matched what you wanted. I would try to be less specific....giving specific bldg numbers makes it much harder to accommodate when the resort is full. JMHO.
