Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

Hi guys. Just a couple of quick questions. I've only stayed at Pop once, and it was only for a quick two night stay. Probably spent a total of 3 non-sleeping hours at the resort, lol. Will be staying again for a 4-night stay in the last week of February.

1. Do you have to request rooms/buildings online, or can you do it when you check in at the front desk?

2. I know they have a pizza delivery service, but is there any way to get a small or kids pizza? Those large pizzas are HUGE.

3. I see that the pools are heated. Are they hot enough for a comfortable February swim? I'm from FL so I'm well-versed in the unpredictability of February temperatures, but I would love to go for a swim during my stay and am hoping the water will be warm enough.

Last time I was at POP, I brought an extra fridge bottle, then I would get hot coffee from the food court in my resort mug before bedtime. I let it cool a little and then poured it into the fridge bottle so the fridge would cool the coffee overnight and I had perfect cold coffee for 1st thing in the morning without having to leave the room! (Plus ice machines are closer to the room if you need the ice.) Worked out perfect, as we always go the food court for a snack at night after the parks anyways. I also had milk in my fridge for the stay so it worked out great! Then when we went down for breakfast I'd already had my "wake-up" coffee and used my mug with breakfast. :)

1. Here is what you can request during on-line check in. You can choose 2.
It is era's, not actual buildings.http://**************.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Pop-Century-Online-Check-in-from-**************.net_.jpg

2. They don't have kid's size pizza but they do have slices of pizza.
Kid's size slice is about the size of 1/8th of a large pizza. The monster slice is 1/4th of a large pizza. These can not be delivered. The only delivery they make is the whole pizza's.

3. The pools are heated to 82 degree's.

Hope this helps :thumbsup2

Thank you! Great info. :)

I just left my poolview preferred room and loved it. We did it mainly for convenience and it worked. We could hear the pool noise inthe afternoon but we were still able to nap. My only regret was that i didn't request lower floor, I hate waiting for elevators and they did didn't seem to be air conditioned.

Awesome, thank you for your feedback! We're so excited :)

Only 94 days to go :)

Thanks so much for the info :cool1: I have to wait until February to do on-line check-in but it is fun getting excited about the choices :dance3:

I am so excited! Monday is my last day at work (been there 14 years). Tuesday we fly to Disney (staying at Pop). Sunday we fly home and Monday morning I start my new job at an amazing company.

I am extremely jealous of this entire situation. :) Congrats! I hope you have a wonderful trip!

I have a question... My soon to be hubby and I are visiting Pop Century and WDW in October 2015 for our honeymoon get away. However My DFi has a birthday 2 days before we leave (B-day is Oct.23 and we arrive in WDW on Oct. 25).

My question is... Can I send a package to the hotel early and then have Mousekeeping so someone put it in our room unannounced like Disney Floral and Gifts would if you bought something. I am planning on a cake for him, but would like to handmake a few things since there isn't much for a man on the Disney Gift site...

Any help is greatly appreciated~

Thanks for all of this great info! We will be staying at Pop for the first time in June 2015. This thread makes me even more excited. :) :cheer2:

I've never stayed at POP, but I'm looking into it since we were quoted a "magical" deal for $2120 to stay at WL without dining. Trouble is we want to enjoy character meals and a table service spot each day, and that comes out to $1200 in food when all is said and done. If we stay at a value and pay for dining it is cheaper in the long run

8/16-8/21
WL
$2308 w/ PH & BB
Does not include dining - est. $1200
$3508 OOP

8/16-8/21
POP
$2929 w/ PH & DDP - OOP

OR 8/16-8/21
AOA - LM rm
$3002 w/ PH & DDP - OOP

In your opinion, what would you do? Have you paid OOP for meals at the world? I've always been fortunate enough to qualify for free DDP, so everything was inclusive, and I don't know what to expect as far as cost goes. Also I think our dates are not inline with getting the 'free dining' option down the road. Unless we take our daughter out of school for a week... not sure how that would work out.

Personally, I would rather pay OOP for my meals. We seem to never use all of our credits and spend too much time trying to keep up with how many we have left to use and when/where to use them. It's really just matter of personal opinion. We have used the DDP many times and paid OOP many times. I feel I have more freedom, and money in my pocket, paying OOP. Just my opinion:)

When you pay OOP, who much do you generally pay? How many people are in your party?

My hubs and I have gone twice by ourselves many years ago. We had the free DDP and used up all of our credits easily. We didn't over indulge by any means, but it was just nice having everything paid up front. It felt very 'all-inclusive' - I just worry the cost for all the TS/character meals (CRT, BOG, 50sPT, Ohana's, Crystal Palace) plus buying snacks and QS lunches or breakfasts, depending on the time of day for 4 people now (2 adults, 2 children).

I guess the difference is how much do you eat? I tend to eat small meals and so does my 19yo daughter. We sometimes order off of the kids menu just because we don't want a huge meal and kids portions are smaller. If we pay OOP I usually budget $15 a meal per person for counter service and $20 per meal for table service. But we rarely spend that much. We are happy with one bug meal a day and then a snack later....turkey leg!! It's really just comes down to what works best for your family.

Yes, you can mail a package to the resort ahead of your arrival. If you do this, you should include your reservation # and arrival date on the outside of the package. But they will not put a package in a room prior to your checking in...the reason being up until the time you take occupancy of your room, it isn't really yours. ESPECIALLY when rhe resort is at capacity, they can shuffle rooms around at the last minute. So until you are given that room #, it's not technically yours. Generally at POP, they do not deliver personal packages to your room, but guests may pick them up at the front desk. For example, after my arrival one trip, I had my sister overnight me a package (via fex ex). It was medical stuff that I needed and forgot to pack (not easily replacable items that are sold at a local pharmacy). When I knew it was on its way, I spoke with a front desk mgr telling them that I had a very important pkg coming.
I gave them my cell number and asked that they contact me as soon as it arrived. They were awesome! They contacted me via my cell and left a message on my room phone. When I answered my cell, they asked if I wanted someone to deliver it but I opted to pick it up because I didn't want to take any chances of it getting left in the wrong room. In my mind that is always a possibility. If you want to know why, Ask. I will tell you a different story that was funny in some ways and not so funny in others! :)
