Resort Thread Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT

This is good news. I heard originally they were selling these off and no longer around. I heard it was only for fishing excursions.

Yeah, I saw that posted a lot - and was even told by a fishing guide last summer “you’ll never see them back,” which I took as bus driver info. But like a lot of ‘permanent changes’ this one seems overblown, or possibly half-truths.

Granted still no word on the water sprites and the Poly, WL, and FW marinas suspiciously not included in that list - I’m curious if we see those return over time or these do end up being permanent covid cuts. All those other pontoons and sprites are either in fact sold off, or sitting in a warehouse somewhere! :-)

We actually booked pontoon rental for 10 ppl during fireworks on Aug 22nd leaving from the Poly. No problem with the reservation but definitely limited.

Yes, they are doing fireworks pontoon cruises from Poly. PP was asking about being able to rent them during the day and boat around Seven Seas Lagoon/Bay Lake on your own, so a different use of the pontoons than the evening fireworks cruises.

Enjoy your fireworks cruise - I watched as they loaded up each night when I was there a few weeks ago, looked like so much fun / a great evening.

Sorry for the misunderstanding! I’m new here 😜. So appreciate all the intel you all have provided in prep for our trip 8/21-26. Board looks great!

We saw a family on a docked pontoon at YC/BC in Saturday & the kids had fishing poles.

Does anyone happen to know where I can find specific room numbers that are considered Standard Views at the Polynesian after the recent renovations? I am not looking for DVC standard view, but the regular resort standard views. Touringplans.com only seems to show DVC studios standard view rooms. So I was hoping to find an updated list of non-DVC Standard View room numbers so I can decided if I will be happy with the view for an upcoming stay, or do I want to change to another view. And I'd like to even try to figure out which longhouse might have the best possible view for a standard view room. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

Hi,
i’m thinking the standard view hotel rooms are called garden views on touring plans. Disney’s Polynesian resort page says “Standard view – view of gardens, monorail or parking lot“
anyone, please correct me if I’m wrong

Select "Garden View/2 Queens + 1 Daybed" (or "Garden View/1 King") in the TP View Finder.

I’m not sure if anyone watches any Disney YouTubers, but tonight at the Pineapple Lanai we ran into Paging Mr. Morrow. I was so excited and nervous, I literally couldn’t talk right. I did manage to get a picture of him, my sons, and husband. Anyway, just was curious if anyone else saw him at the Poly tonight? We have a few favorite YouTubers and we finally saw one!

Mr Morrow is one of our favorites. We ran into Josh and Jenna last year at the CR and made it on their stream.

Are they sending in park purchases back to your hotel? I thought I read somewhere this was stopped "due to covid". My husband plans on buying an absurd amount of Star Wars stuff and I really don't want to be his pack mule.

Not at this time. You can ship purchases to your home from the parks.

I'm trying to decide if we should add on a fireworks cruise for our fall trip. Since we'll be at the Poly, the rational side of me thinks it wouldn't be worth it as we'll have a great view of the MK fireworks from the resort plus multiple nights at the park (not to mention Boo Bash). But, we only have one day scheduled at Epcot and I'm not sure we'll make it long enough to see Harmonious since we'll have my 2 year old with us. Has anyone done one of these recently? I honestly can't make up my mind.

Mostly good things to say about the just finished stay in an unrenovated DVC studio:

I ended up having to do laundry in the regular laundry late at night because the DVC laundry rooms are not available right now. No one does wash after 10pm, but it resulted in me not getting to bed until midnight one night.

WiFi service was not great on one day. It was fine the rest of the time.

There were loud (drunk?) people outside my window between 11 and 11:45 on two different nights.

Zero problems with housekeeping. They collected garbage at least three of four days. Left a few new towels too. No garbage accumulated around the building or resort.

The Poly-MK bus is pretty good and it was frequent. I might prefer it to a monorail in terms of practicality (fast, less walking, less crowded).

Capt Cook's was always fast and good.

I like parking at the Poly (Pago-Pago side) compared to other deluxe Disney hotels. Very convenient parking for DVC guests.

I like seeing the fireworks across the lake at night, or even just hearing them.

There were a lot more guests at the resort compared to my stay 11 months ago. There were also a lot more staff this trip. They seemed pretty well-staffed and every CM was very helpful.

Most of my complaints were about other aspects of WDW this week, and I'll try to add them to the big thread.
