Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

I have our first Poly stay booked for November. I've looked at the map, but can't decide on anything to request room-wise. We have a standard room. I just put 1st or 3rd floor as my request for now, since I'd prefer a patio/balcony. The resort isn't that large that being on one side or the other would be that big of an issues as far as I can tell.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

I agree with dansdad that if a patio or balcony is a priority, I'd make that your only request. The resort isn't that spread out and while some long houses are closer to the main areas than others, none are that far away. Hope you have a great time and enjoy the Poly :wizard:.

There really isn't a bad location at the resort.

I agree! :)

Question on the Studio Vila daybed - can a small (5.2 ish) 22 year old sleep on the murphy/daybed in the vila comfortably? Would anyone know where I could find the dimensions by any chance ??

Trying to decide if we need to bring the aero bed or not. FYI we aren't over the room occupancy just a have combination of guests who would rather not share the couch.

We've stayed in a studio last last week. Didn't sleep full time on the Murphy bed but did lay on it awhile to check it out. I am 5'4" and fit on it fine. Found it very comfortable.

Just want to share that on a 7am MK EMH day, the resort monorail started at 6:30. Not that this will always be the case, but seems to be now, in case anyone is going to be here soon.

Also can confirm there are still two bag and security checks going to Epcot via monorail from the TTC.

Also, FYI for the emh MK morning- the CM holding the line told everyone that if they were resort members they had to check in at tomorrowland terrace before entering the rest of the park.

DH was getting mad when I told him we were going to go to the 7dmt spoke, telling me we had to go to tomorrowland first. I said, there are already an enormous amount of people here, if they tried to scan everyone at tomorrowland terrace there would be a mutiny.

We walked directly to the fantasyland spoke and CMs were simply welcoming everyone in, and the stepsisters were joshing everyone saying 7dmt had a 10 hour wait- DS was concerned. :p

Hmmm, I read the new security system thread and I still can't decide on something. We're staying in a Studio and want to go to the MK for 8 am EMH. Probably leave the Pol around 7:15-7:30. Would it make more sense to walk to the TTC and take the MK monorail from there--since it probably won't be very crowded, given most onsite guests won't be arriving quite yet--or just take the resort monorail? I just don't know how backed up the Poly monorail station will be...

I can't directly answer as it relates to Poly, but just wanted to relay my experience at GF this past week - there are likely similarities with what you'd experience at Poly.

We did several MK mornings where we got on the resort monorail at GF in the 8AM-9AM range (9AM park opening). Every time was a total breeze, usually no one in line at security. Extremely simple.

FWIW, I thought this new setup was GREAT. It makes the whole process of getting into MK from the monorail resorts so smooth/simple, both at the resort and once you arrive at MK.

Hope that helps.

Good to know! The only thing I'm worried/slightly annoyed about is having to go through security twice to get to Epcot from the Poly!

Your First Visit has it measured at 72" by 30" my 5'4 28yo daughter sleeps on it fine.

This is a Poly CL question. Does the lounge only offer coffee in the nespresso machines? Is the Kona pressed pot ever offered? If not, I suppose I can order it via room service and maybe enjoy it in the lounge. Anyone do this?

We were there in January so I just asked my DH since I am a tea drinker. He said there were coffee carafes out in the morning but he did not see them later in the day.

Poly newbie and relative Disney novice here with a question for all you experienced Poly goers:

Is there any chance of discounts THanksgiving week - room only or dining?

So the first CM was holding the line at the entrance before letting people into Main Street? And the CMs at fantasyland let everyone-including non resort guests in? Am I misunderstanding this post?

You are not misunderstanding.

On either side at the arches CMs were holding people at the openings before Main Street. They said that resort guests must check in at tomorrowland terrace before being able to enter the fantasyland or tomorrowland spokes.

I looked around and by 6:40 there was a horde of people at each arch. It would have been complete madness if they tried to check people through at the terrace - resort guests would have been delayed until at least 7:30 or later if they were in the back of the giant crowds.

I think that for 8am emh, they may be able to scan people at the spokes, as everyone is let into Main Street at 7 and they have time to scan people there ahead of time. But for 7am emh, that isn't possible without big delays for guests because everyone is held at the arches before Main Street and let in at 7 am or a few min after (as was our experience).

So, in summary, at least on that 7am emh day, they did not check, even though they said they would.

I will say we were able to do an enormous amount of rides in fantasyland between 7 and 8. We were near the front of the arches at open and walked to 7dmt (tons of people were running even with cms telling them to walk- I saw a kid trip and fall because their parent was running so fast, kid basically flew before landing), and had like a 3 or 5 minute wait, and that was mostly just walking through the empty queue.

The rest of the rides were basically walk on. We did barnstormer close to 8 and we had to wait only for one train/car.

Like you said I don't think it affects how much you can get done early on but that is a huge flaw to advertise EMH hours for RESORT guests but then allow EVERYONE in. Hope they can figure this one out before word gets out that everyone can get in early. Though it's still unlikely that tons of people would abuse it. But at least it's good info for my trip next month.

ETA I won't be abusing it. I am staying at Poly.

I can't vouch for lately but remember in the past they have held non-resort guests at the TTC during AM extra magic hours. The large majority of resort guests arrive via resort monorail or Disney bus, so that's a natural filter. Obviously some do drive, not sure how that is handled at the TTC.

Again, not sure if that's how they are doing it currently.

Can't help with the shipping question but just FYI - the store in the Grand Ceremonial House sells 24-packs of Dasani for a decent price, $6.99 I think. Very reasonable price for Disney standards. Might be easier than trying to figure out the shipping?

Hope you have a great trip!

At least in other resort shops, the bottles are much smaller than what you see in a regular 24-pack shipped with Amazon Prime or what you find in your local store. Those are usually 17 oz and the ones in the resort shops are, I think, 12 ounces. Just an FYI!

Just stayed 2 nights at the Poly last week. A few details that some may find noteworthy. We loved the Poly but felt the room quality lacking for the price. We had just stayed 5 nights prior at Shades of Green and the rooms were much cleaner and the beds much more comfortable. Our 3rd floor patio in the Samoa building had bird droppings on the rail and chairs. Light switches were filthy and carpets were stained. With that said we loved all the other things that the Poly had to offer. It's really not the room you pay for. Our 2 boys LOVED the splash pad. Our oldest was just over the height requirement and it was no big deal. There were several kids there even a little taller than him. Chair saving is REAL folks. I would say quite a few chairs with stuff on them did not have people in the pool area.
Ordered the room service Twilight Feast ! We pre ordered for a set delivery time. Delivery was prompt. They said they prefer this. We ordered 1 meal for 2 adults. This was fine with them. We asked for no shrimp, extra steak and no veggies, extra noodles. No problem! Sooooo much food. There was enough left for another adult! It was great. Bread pudding was cool when we got to it. It is indeed better warm with ice cream. I noticed they did not bring us bread and thought they forgot. Checked the room service menu and it's no longer listed on there. A great value for 2 people for dinner.
Oasis at the quiet pool was fantastic. Great teriyaki hamburger with pork belly and pineapple, excellent pork sliders (better than the sandwich IMO at Captain Cooks) and amazing cinnamon sugar donuts with passion fruit curd. It's kind of like key lime but better. Such a great combo. We ordered them 3 times. Tried the Frosty pineapple as well (frozen dole whip with rum). Very tasty. Wished I has taken up the bartenders offer for a rum floater for $2 though.
We used Lilo's playhouse one nights. Kids had a great time. Dropped them off at 5 and picked them up at 10:30. They met Chip and Dale, baked cookies, did crafts, pretend play, science experiments, had dinner, a snack and a movie had started just before we picked them up. Worth it.
Trader Sams! Soooo much fun. We went at 5 and there was no wait. A few people came in after us as well and there were a few seats still available when we left. I won't spoil the antics but we really enjoyed it.
Let me know if you have any questions!
