We are LV concierge as well praying for the one 3rd floor room! I will not be happy with people standing on or in front of my patio if we ground floor. At the very least, they should fence off the grassy areas in front of room blocks

I've always thought they should fence off the grass in front of the rooms too. I can say that with the bungalows there now, the view isn't as prime as in the past so people have moved to other areas over the last couple of years. We'll see what this year brings!

Hi everyone! I'm a new DVC member at the poly! I don't have my ID number yet to sign into the website. Do you think it'll be difficult for me to book for the marathon weekend in January?

Potentially, yes. You'll be booking at 7 months in all probability, and certain high-demand periods the near-park DVC rooms get booked quickly on the 7-month date. It is possible that will happen for marathon weekend, which is a high-demand period by definition.

If you can get your number before your 7 month date, that would be better for your chances.

Hi all,
Silly question: how are the bags brought to your room (studio villa?) Does the bell hop bring them, or are you responsible for getting the bags to your room?
Thanks!

My wife and I have booked a standard view deluxe studio at the poly villas for dec 10 - 13. I read on tikimans poly pages that Tokelau seems to have the best standard views. Any tips on requests to make so that I get a view of the castle? I planned on calling into the Disney trip advisors and making a request. We have never stayed at the poly before, we usually go for the GF but we are very excited to give it a go!

Are you using magical express? If so they will be delivered to your room for you. If you aren't (or are arriving late enough bag service isn't available) I believe you'll be bringing them yourself. I'm sure you can ask for a bellhop if you aren't using ME but I have never tried myself.

Edit: I should have been more clear. This is only true of you had ME pick up your luggage. If you are loading it into the ME bus itself you will also be responsible for getting it out and bringing it in.

Hi all - question about leaving the MK around 9:00 PM, which is when the Electrical Water Pageant is going past the Poly. Does the boat still run to the Poly, or should we plan to take the monorail? Thanks!

I think I'd line up for the boat if the line is relatively short but if there's a long line I guess I'd head for the resort monorail (although its line may be long too).
I think the boats must have a route around the parade, b/c I feel sure they don't just stop for it. You'll stop first at GF anyway. Maybe you get held up a bit but the monorail could take even longer. Sorry, that's probably not very helpful :crazy2:

How crowded is the Tambu Lounge typically? I'm hoping to go there with my parents on a late Friday afternoon for a snack and Lapu Lapu, after we check in and before we head to the MK. :earsgirl:

We have never done Rope Drop and thinking on our long trip- that this would be something easy to hit and our kids would enjoy. Does the monorail run early enough to get there on time? Would the boat or ferry be better?

Rope drop is a MUST! You can get tons done in the first couple of hours. (Ideally NOT on a Fantasy Morning- or whatever it's called- day)
Take the monorail if it's running at that hour, but if you're close to boat dock and see a boat coming, do that! MK will be your next stop :)

Sorry, lots of questions as I plan now for my parents to join me at the Poly in less than 2 weeks!

How early should we get a table at the Trader Sam's outdoor terrace if we want to watch a 10:00 PM Wishes from the table? This would be a Friday or Saturday night. It looks like some but not all tables have decent views of Wishes. I know the beach and the marina may have better views, but I really want my parents to be able to hear the music, too - they've never seen Wishes! :-)

If you happen to be on the boat while the water parade is parked in front of the Polynesian, the boat will wait until the water parade moves on. While I have never had this happen at the Polynesian, we did have to wait on the parade to move on from WL while returning from Hoop De Doo one evening. Perhaps the timing is better from MK to GF and GF to Polynesian. The boat may hold at GF until the parade has cleared the Polynesian or you would be sitting on the water until it has moved on. Frankly, it is pretty cool to view the parade from the boat and it doesn't take all that long for it to move on. I think I would rather bide my time on the boat than stand in a huge line at the monorail IF the queue is large. The odds of "perfect timing" to be held up by the parade though are minute I would think.

We're here now on our first visit to Poly. :thumbsup2 I'm surprised at how compact this resort is. It's really small. I had been worried about requesting Fiji since its further away from things but sooooo not an issue (I may change my mind after walking to TTC tomorrow but we only do that one day).

We got the room two down from the one we requested in Fiji with Touring Plans. Third floor, luau facing with a nice view of the beach. You can hear the drums from the luau at night but it wasn't very loud.

Watching the water parade last night was very cool. Cute show and the kids enjoyed running around the beach while waiting. Ditto Wishes. I had no idea how high most of the fireworks fly from seeing them in the park. Sound quality wasn't awesome but I didn't really care about that.

Yes, I noticed it was still running during the water parade last night, even when the boats were right in front of Poly. I meant to watch how it got around that but I got distracted.
:cool2:

I went to get a drink at 9:30 last night (Sat 4/30) and there were a couple patio tables open. I'll have to look again, but I wouldn't think it would be good viewing for Wishes. It's very enclosed with a building and some vegetation behind it, but that wasn't really something I was paying attention to so I could be wrong.

We just experienced our first stay at the poly and loved it! Booked a bounce back for 8 nights in December in the Hawaii building and absolutely can't wait. I'm wondering if like the other long houses, the 2nd floor of the Hawaii building only has rails rather than patios? Do you think we have a good chance of getting a first or third floor room if we request that in advance?

Oh my! So excited, just booked an anniversary trip for late june at the poly villas (std view)!! We were booked for Swan, but was able to get poly for a reasonable rate, so I'm excited to make the switch.
Now, we've never stayed here before...so i need some help. With it being a trip with just DH and I we'll take things slower, enjoy the resort, trader sams ;), etc...
Since its coming up soon (less than 60 days!!!) I need a crash course in what we should NOT miss at the resort.
Thanks so much, i would appreciate any tips or advice.

In route now!! If we put 3:00 check in, is there any chance our room could be ready earlier? We may drive straight through.

Also, if you do online check in can you still get leis?

Thanks!!!
If you do online check in you can change your expected arrival time. They do their best to accommodate but it all depends on availability at the time of your arrival.

Often they forget to give the leis anyways so just look in the lobby. Usually you can see an area where they have them and just ask for one. Or go to any check in counter and just ask.

If your room isn't ready you can still enjoy the hotel or head to a park. Good luck with an early check in. :)
