is it just a dream? If Disney were to build such a resort, what amenities would you want and what price would you be willing to pay?

I want to stay in the castle! Seriously, it has to be very exclusive (no monorail running through it) and outstanding service!

I agree, building another castle with luxurious rooms would be fantastic. I would love it to be a Beauty and the Beast castle theme....that castle has so much character :wizard:

All suite or at least all w/a generous sitting area, all rooms w/view to "the castle" and w/the music of Wishes piped into each room, best of restaurants, large balcony, unique children's activities, unique kid club....

I'm sure I could think of more!

Yeah, but many of the DVC resorts lack the really cool theming. With all due respect.

I want fresh flowers in my room. Lots of people to suck up to me, but in a nice way. I want a really cool pool. With two slides - a little one and a big one, and zero depth entry. I also want the pool to have a kiddie area/water park built into the same pool - little water jets, a stream to play in, etc. I want a place to eat at the resort that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, but has some little bonus that makes it special (special foods, a special view). I want an AWESOME hot tub - lots of jets - so everyone can have a jet on their back and feet at the same time! And some little plus by the hot tub - wild animals, a waterfall. I want fruity frozen beverages with alcohol served next to the hot tub or pool. I want a character meal - Tarzan perhaps (because Tarzan Rocks! - after all!). If not Tarzan, than at least something that appeals to boys - like pirates, Buzz, Woody, Stitch, Indiana Jones (but he's got to look like Harrison Ford. Hey, the guys get to see Ariel in her little bikini top...)
I want quick transportation to each park - something unique - not just another monorail or boat. Hovercraft or skyway, perhaps. Or maybe a resort that enters directly into a park. What about an MGM resort? The transportation could involve making you feel like you really have some sort of magic flying powers.
I want to feel like I am somewhere unique in all the world.
Hey, what about a Star Wars hotel?

WOW! You are creative! They could have a fantasyland resort area, complete with a castle for the princesses and another with your ideas. The theme parks could have private entrances for guests of our resort land and VIP guides assigned to meet all of our daily park needs! (Right now on our trips that would be me ~ the Mom!) ;)

You've got to come visit us at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge. Truly the best of all worlds.

Disney thinks that GF is "luxury" and a world class hotel. (And they are sadly misstaken!) I don't think this is going to be their strong point!

Personally the reason I love DVC is I get accomdations equal to or nicer then the regular hotel rooms without paying $200 or more a night. The only way Disney can justify thier prices is Location.....

The Disneyland Hotel in France is the ultimate luxury. The hotel is right at the park entrance, and concierge guests (called the Castle Club) even have a private elevator to take them down to the turnstiles.

I've posted this all before, but here you go.

WDW should build a true luxury hotel. It would be small, 300 rooms or less. All rooms would be at least a jr. suite, with about 25% of the rooms being a full 1, 2 or 3 BR suite. All rooms would be housed in a single building. At least one floor/wing would be designated adult only. All transportation would be by bus, and no sharing with other resorts. At all park bus stops there would be a paging system where guests could push a button and a bus would be available to return them to their resort within five minutes.

The overall theme would simply be a luxury resort with subtle hints of Disney, like the way the CR or GF handle "Disney" theming.

Access would be limited to those with room or dining reservations, walk-ups to the restaurants would not be permitted.

There would be two restaurants. Two full service, one moderate, a second high end with an enfirced dress code. There would be a concierge lounge on each floor and wing (I'm thinking that you could break this resort into four floors with two wings on each). TRUE concierge service would be provided, and coffee/tea/soda/bottled water and fresh fruit would be available 24 hours.

An over all resort dress code ie. coverups required over bathing suits when walking to/from your room to the pool), shoes required in all public areas, etc.

Fresh flowers would be in each room, as well as a minifridge and coffee maker. Of course robes and slippers would also be provided. Toiletries would be upgraded--Lord and Mayfair at the lowest. Housekeeping would be impeccable, and each room would have a selection of pillows. Rooms would be spacious and would include butler service. Linens would be Egyptian cotton and in pristine condition. Each room would have a CD and DVD player. A selection of CD's and DVD's would be available to borrow from the concierge.

The pool would have a pool concierge who would lead each guest to a chair, and the chairs would have little flags to call a waiter over. Towels would be large and plentiful.

The price tag--high. Will people be willing to pay it? If it's done right, I believe there are enough people looking for that type of experience who can afford it, and are willing to pay for it to keep a small luxury hotel full.

My guess is that the jr. suites would have to start at $700 per night--off season. Would I pay for this? Yes, for a special occaision.

I recently saw a special on the luxury hotels of Dubai, in the United Arab Emeriates. They are building incredible artificial islands shaped like palm trees that will host new communities and hotels. One of the hotels will be underwater and I immediately thought of Disney when I heard about it.

Ducklite,

Yes, now your description is true luxury - luxury that my DH would pay for when celebrating a special occastion.

Thank you for sparking the imagination!

I would agree! Our room faced the VWL, and their buildings looked exactly like the rest of WL.

OK, sign me up now! That sounds like a fabulous place to spend and anniversary or a honeymoon. As always, your posts ROCK!

ETA - I agree about the shoes/coverups, since there were people getting out of the pool at WL and running in to Roaring Forks barefoot and completely oblivious to the fact they were getting water all over the place.

How funny! While walking through the castle at DL last week, my DW and I were discussing how Disney missed the boat on an opportunity to build an actual castle hotel. Very exclusive and richly adorned, the castle rooms should be at minimum one bedroom suites. The trick would be to keep the interior appointments themed to be timeless and not medieval. A smaller scale to the Excalibur in Vegas, yet more modern, polished and luxurious. The cost of something like that would be enormous per room, so location would have to be critical. Sigh... I wonder how often imagineers are tasked to brainstorm on concepts like these that get shelved.

This is great to hear, I keep thinking of trying this place out. I know it starts at about 500 a night for a standard and there aren't many discounts, but it looks beautiful. Good to hear a positive review

one other addition to ducklite's response, ALL INCLUSIVE. you should be able to eat, drink, and participate in any activity around the World whenever you wish. i would pay $6500.00 for the week for a family of 4.

Actually I don't like this idea. A lot of people have AP's, or DDE, or no desire to pay for a lot of amenities they won't use. My guess is that by doing it all ala carte, it would be under $6500 for the week.
