For those of you who still need a dress. I was listening to GMA this morning and they announced that Disney will be coming out with a line of princess wedding dresses priced from $1100-$3000. They will be avialable in Bridal boutiques around the country.

Interesting, I wonder what they will look like. Did they say when designs would be available?

I did a little research and found that a store in Winter Park called Solutions Bridal Designer House will be the first to carry them. Now if I could just get pictures.......

Is it okay to admit I am kind of cringing?

I am sure they will be beautiful but right now all I can picture is a grown woman in one of those princesses dresses they sell in the Disney store walking down the aisle with a tiara with a big plastic cameo of Ariel on it and a plastic wand. :rotfl: :rotfl:

There's a big article about them on the front page of the second section of today's Wall Street Journal. Unfortunately, their online stories are subscription only. The article says that the designs are princess-inspired but more subdued than what Disney markets to its youngest princesses.

At one point, BG and I were looking at having our wedding at Disney in Paris. When I did some research online, I found that they DLP offered wedding dresses to wear during the ceremony. All of them were reminiscent (and when I say that, the mostly resembled them) of the Princesses dresses(Cinderella, Belle, etc....).

I wasn't too crazy about them, but that is just me....:confused3

From WSJ online: In a move to expand the reach of one of its most popular franchises, Cinderella and her regal friends are moving into the bridal business with a line of wedding dresses and accessories. Disney has teamed up with couture bridal designer Kirstie Kelly to transform blushing brides into their favorite princesses, complete with billowing gowns and crystal tiaras. At a cost of $1,100 to $3,000 for each gown, brides will be able to walk down the ...

It seems to sound like they are more princess "inspired" rather than the replicas Paris and Hong Kong had

WSJ has a sketch slideshow, but I don't have access to that

I think they do that in Japan, too. You can rent a Princess dress...

I'm very curious about these new disney dresses. If they make gowns with hidden mickey's I'm going to be so upset they didn't do this earlier b/c I wanted to custom design a dress with hidden mickeys...

if they make a hidden mickey tiara too I will just cry...is that wrong of me??

it will be great for future brides, though...like I said before DH will never want to do a VR so... :( oh well! lol can't wait to see!

I saw in a magazine a while ago that famed photographer Annie Lebowitz (sp?) did a photo shoot for disney. She had celebrities dressed in character. Scarlett Johanson was running down the steps to cindys castle in a GORGEOUS cinderella blue gown. I wonder if it was one of the dresses? I wish I could find the article so I could post it. If the new dresses look anything like the one I saw they'll be gorgeous!

This is a little OT but could you post a link for information about the DLP wedding program? I wasn't aware that they had one. I know that Japan has a big wedding program with the dresses and all but I would love to hear about Disneyland Paris.

Thanks!

I thought I'd read you couldn't get married in DLP - summat to do with their laws?

OMG Hidden Mickey's on my dress - I had planned on doing this (and already sewed a few onto some of my spare fabric to test it out) but then thought it might be tacky or over-the-top, but now I'm changing my mind back again! My dress is very full skirted, ivory silk and I'd put ivory 'pearls' on the fabric and liked it but not sure whether to go ahead and put them on my dress - what do you think?

I think it's your dress and your vision. Do what makes you happy! I noticed the beads on my dress have some hidden Mickey's. Love the little things like that. Take pics when you are done. Would love to see.

do it! I had hidden mickeys on my veil...

I just read a copy of the wall street journal article, it says the one Scarlett's wearing is a variation of the dress, that the princess influences will be subtle, and the dresses will be white or ivory, not shocking blue, pink and yellow. Princesses listed as inspiration are Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty (which the sketch of is very neat) Belle, Snow White, Ariel, and Jasmine. Dresses will go on sale in June (too late for me.....am sad now)
