Disney's MGM Studios Art Class

Yes, we love to go, keep our drawings from each trip to see if we are improving. You can enter through the Art store and go in the back way to the queue if you don't have time after the tour.

Yes, we did it in April. It is our grandson's favorite thing to do at MGM, and we enjoy it too. Fun!

Is the art class something you have to book and pay extra for? If so how do I do that? My husband would love to do this.

Also what age kids is it appropriate for?

Thanks
Vickie

It's free and age appropriate for everyone. We are in our early 30s and there were little kids drawing. It's completely informal and relaxed. I have no clue how to draw and this class was fun. It's a nice "break" from the theme park action. I believe it's towards the back of the park inside an art store.

all ages, it's free.

my goofy.. paper's actually white but this was a photo in hotel room lighting

It isn't really a class, per se...it's called Animation Academy and is in the Animation Courtyard Building, and is what comes after the Drawn to Animation show. You go in, sit at animator's desks and a Disney animator teaches you to draw a character. It takes about 15 minutes and is free. You can take your drawing with you. It is appropriate for any age that can hold a pencil and draw what they tell you to, so even a 3 year old could try. They might not get artist results, but then neither do I (and I haven't seen 3 for a long long time!) You can go without seeing the Drawn to Animation show too, just walk through the store and into the exhibits and get in line.

Yes and its evenfun for 55+ folks. DH and I love to attend. We have framed our Mickey, Goofy and Donald...

Also, the character that's being drawn in each show varies. You can ask the CM at the entrance which character will be featured in the next show. If you've already learned how to draw that character, or just aren't interested in learning, you can skip it and come back for another show.

I discovered it for the first time in June and loved it, sat through 3 classes, and will do it again when I go back in August.

The animator who instructed my class made a great suggestion. He recommended that we get Pluto (that is who we drew) to sign it as a cute souvenir.
