So how does this work? Is the bus just a chartered bus that you store your car seats in the bottom of? SO you can't use car seat on the ride to disney? We are flying there and don't plan on getting a rental car or anything, just using Disney transport. I am wondering if there is any point in bring our carseats (2) along? Will we need them for anything? THanks. If there is anything else I should know about young kids-DS1 and DS4, and DME please feel free to share. THanks!

We used a car seat on the plane for our DD and plan to do the same thing next month. WIth DME, they stored the carseat underneath the bus - it's a big motorcoach - and we got it out when we got to the hotel. I will NOT put my DD on the plane without her carseat - not yet. DS does without one, though. Anyway, it's easy to store the seat on DME. But if you're not going to use it on the plane, then you really don't need it.

I've always used the shuttle and never brought carseats. It's so much easier! Esp if you're not renting a car. Makes traveling easier.

Nope, no need for them. I didn't bring any. We didn't rent a car...we were stayng onsite all week and had no need. Used Disney trasportation. I don't use them on the plane either. Too much trouble. I belt DS2 in a seat very tightly (he can't figure out how to undo the belt yet) during take off and landing but that is it.

We did bring DS's car seat on the plane. It kept him in place for the most part and he was able to sleep comfortably. For ME, we stored the car seat underneath and he sat right next to me like a big boy. He watch the Disney video the whole way to the resort with no problems.

We are using DME in September and will be flying cross country. DS is 3 and 30lbs so we are taking his car seat on the airplane. No, we won't be able to use it on the bus but I just don't think he's ready to fly without his car seat. Plus on the off chance we do decide (or need) to take a car somewhere, whether it's a rental or a taxi, we'll have it with us.

If I were you, I would put the 1-yr old in a car seat on the plane and if you think you might rent a car or take a taxi somewhere, you could bring along a backless booster for your 4-yr old just in case. You can't use bpb's on airplanes since they don't have internal harnesses, but you would want one if you drove anywhere in a car.

As far as other DME questions, check on the transportation board. I think there's a sticky thread at the top that has an FAQ.

hth!

We had lap child 1 and 3 year old last Sept and didn't bring carseats also won't again for this Sept at 2 and 4. Personally, it bothers me more to have them out of carseats on the buses to WDW and the internal buses than it does on the plane. I wish they had seatbelts on the buses. I do get nervous but I know that this is the 'regulation' at that I'm hoping for the best.

But it's totally a personal decision. Whatever you will be most comfortable with.

I will admit that it's a huge convenience not to have to haul them around the airports!

We just got back 3 weeks ago with DS6, DD4 and DD22mos - we didn't take any carseats! We did hire a van to take us to Sea World, and they provided carseats and booster for us.
