Disney's Magical Express Question!

We're heading out this Sunday to Disney (I'm so excited!), we're from the Caribbeanpirate: and we're meeting a friend of ours up there that's coming from Ohio. Here's where the confusion comes:

Our flight arrivals are quite different. We arrive there at 7:00 a.m. and she gets there at 3:00 p.m. We can't really wait all that time until 3:00 p.m. and I would like to know how many times can you go from the Airport to the Hotel and back?

Because I was thinking of returning to the airport around that time to meet up with her and escort her back to the hotel where we're staying, but is that allowed? More importantly do I lose my ticket of returning to the Airport, by escorting her back, later when it's time to leave?

We're staying in Movies and we're using the Magical Express!

You are entitled to take ME once to WDW from the Airport on the day you are scheduled to check into your WDW hotel. Same in reverse - you are entitled to take ME back from WDW to the airport on the day you are scheduled to check out of your WDW hotel.

You can't ride WDW back and forth to the airport multiple times in order to escort your friend.

Why not just take ME when you arrive and let her take ME when she arrives and then you can all meet up at the hotel?

Thank you for the input.

I was thinking about that, my main worry is that my friend doesn't have the luggage vouchers and luggage tags. Would that be a problem?

As long as she is a registered Disney hotel guest then no it would not be a problem. When she arrives all she needs to do is to go up to the DME counter and they will get her all set.

Alright, thanks!

If your friend doesn't have the ME luggage tags, tell her to to make sure she retrieves her own bags before proceeding to the ME check-in area. Otherwise her bags may not get to the resort.

Have a great time.

This is not true. Just give DME your name, how many bags, and a discription of the bags(a photo would be great). DME will still retrieve the bags and send them to your resort. We had this happen to us once, no need to worry at all.

Besides the description of the bags, the CM will also ask for the baggage claim tickets.

Actually that is not true. While she doesn't need the luggage tag and/or vouchers, just being a guest is not enough. She needs to have a reservation for the DME - you cannot make a reservation when you arrive at MCO (for transportion to WDW). Something to do with taking business away from taxis/limos.

OP - you just need to make sure that your friend is included in your DME reservation. If she is in the same room as you are, she will be (or should be), but just double check your voucher booklet.

No. Please stop spreading misinformation. Magical Express has been operating for over five and a half years. From the beginning, through today, and continuing into the future, they have a procedure for untagged luggage. With a Magical Express reservation, as crashbb indicates below (and which the friend seems to have, based on the original post), she merely needs to show her luggage claim check/s to the Cast Member at the Welcome Center. A different CM will claim her luggage and get it to the Sorting Center.

I was getting a little worried there for a second. She's staying in the same room as I am and I think she's only bringing a Carry-On bag. Does she need to do something else other than to go to the Magical Express counter (Is it called the Welcome Center?) (Also, could you tell me where is this located in the airport?) and explain to the worker that she doesn't have the voucher tags, but that she DOES appear as a guest in the system OR does she need to do something else?

Another question: I'm arriving there at 7:30 a.m. and she at 3:00 p.m. is the Magical Express still working around 3:00 p.m.?

I'll jump on the bandwagon as well...you won't have any issues at all. Just head to the DME welcome area and give them the number of checked bags, a description (they will show you pictures of various styles of bags) and the baggage claim receipt numbers, and they'll send someone to retrieve the bags and get them to the airport. Many have done this with no problems whatsoever.

As long as your friend is listed on your room reservation and she was included in the DME reservation, she needs only an ID when she gets to the DME welcome area. This area can be found on level 1, Side B. You arrive on level 3, and then go down past baggage claim on level 2 and down to the very bottom..level 1, ground transportation.
If she has only carryon baggage, she will be fine. They will print out a voucher for the bus for her when she gets there. When she gives her name, they should be able to bring it up in the system. She may have to give your name as well.....just a possibility. As long as she is listed as registered in your room and on your DME reservation, she is good to go.

DME runs 24/7. Baggage delivery does shut down between 10pm and 7am, but the buses for the guests run all day, all night. She will have no problem getting a bus at 3ish.

This is all that is important here since the later arriving passenger will only have carry on....

Below is a map of MCO and how to get to the DME welcome center....

goofy4tink-Thank you so much for clearing that up! I'll let her know!

dudspizza-Thank you! I'm printing that and also sending it to her!

Thank you very much! We're going on Sunday and I was worried that time will pass without really knowing what to expect! So thank you for the quick replies!

Well, I've asked her and she's thinking of bringing a carry-on and a check-in bag, but she plans on retrieving the check-in bag and carry-on herself...and then going to the DME welcome center.

Would that cause any problem?

It wouldn't cause any problems, they will just put it on the luggage compartment on the bus, and she'll get it when she arrives.

Advantage of doing this: she'll have her luggage with her when she arrives, as opposed to later that night (which might be a good thing, as she's arriving in the evening)

Disadvantage: she'll have to go to the baggage claim area first, and so she'll arrive at the resort that much later (plus have to lug her luggage through the airport).

Hi goofy4tink,
glad to see you back posting again.
I hope you had a great trip, looking forward to a TR maybe.
Did you get that free cocktail on Jetblue, they taste better when they're on the house.

Welcome Back

Alright, thank you very much for your help! You've been very helpful! :goodvibes
