I have a question with regards to the DME.

I know it says that if we are flying out of Canada we have to pick up our own luggage and take it to DME. However, it says because it is due to US Customs.

We are looking at flying out of YVR (Vancouver, BC) and I know that you go through US customs at YVR.

Considering we would have already cleared US customs at YVR, would our bags still be picked up by DME for us?

Anyone flown out of YVR before and used DME? Last time we flew to WDW and used DME we flew out of SEA so we cleared customs when we drove across the border.

Any info would be appreciated.

:dance3: DME will take your bags for you. If you clear customs in Canada, you don't have to pick up your bags.

We have used DME twice when flying out of Ottawa. Each time we cleared US customs at the Ottawa airport and let DME collect the bags. We have had no problems.

Last summer we flew from YYZ (Pearson in Toronto) to MCO and ME collected our bags.

The DME package you receive will state that international visitors will have their bags automatically delivered to their room if:

1) you put the yellow baggage tags on your luggage

2) you clear US Customs, BEFORE you arrive @ MCO.

However, many DME cast members don't understand the nuance of people clearing USA Customs BEFORE they arrive @ MCO (they don't understand the concept of pre-clearance facilities).

Non-U.S. passengers who must clear or re-clear customs upon arrival in Orlando:

You pick up your bags in the customs station, and taking the bags all the way to the airport tram and then to the Magical Express bus is sometimes optional, sometimes not permitted.

If you (do or must) put the bags on the other conveyor belt, then the bags can be taken to your room by Magical Express.

Non-yellow tagged bags can be optionally claimed for good at the carousels in the main terminal after the tram ride.

Don't confuse the OP. They already stated they will clear US customs in YVR, not MCO. So, their flight is treated like any domestic USA flight.

I can say from previous experiences when flying Air Canada and WestJet from Toronto - Orlando, my parents and I have always cleared United States Customs in Toronto and never had to re-clear once arriving in Orlando. So I can say that the 1st sentence you wrote is incorrect, at least when it has to do with passengers who fly from Toronto and I would assume other Canadian airports where passengers clear United States Customs in Canada.

We are 14 days out for our trip and I was wondering when I might get my ME things? WHat happens if we don't receive them? We are flying out of Buffalo so clearing customs is not a problem for us as we will clear customs the night before our trip.

You should have received the documents by now. Call CRO immediately. They will tell you may not receive the tags (so you'll have to supply DME @ MCO with your baggage tags, so they can pick up your luggage). However, if you call now, there is still plenty of time for them to send you the tags.

I've lost my tags, called CRO, and 48 hours later had new tags.

I used DU for my trip so maybe that makes a difference? What number do I call to find out about my tags?

That's been my experience too with flying out via Toronto. This trip we're taking a different route, Winnipeg --> Minneapolis--> Orlando. My travel agent assures me we'll clear customs here in Winnipeg before we even get going.

If you booked via a TA, technically only the TA can check on the tags for you. You can try calling DME @ 1-866-599-0951.

Your TA may have forgotten to book DME.
