Disney's Magical Express Airport Service

I know this airport transportation service does not start until May 5, 2005 but maybe someone has some info. I read on another board that the service is with "participating airlines". At the present time the airlines I am flying on May 15 is not a participant. Does this mean I am not entitled to the Magical Express Service? Any info is greatly appreciated.

From what I understand of the service, it doesn't matter what airline you fly on in order to be able to take the bus to WDW or back to the airport. The "participating airlines" refers to the ability to check in for your flight hom at your WDW resort so you don't have to do it at the airport.

If I'm mistaken in this regard, can someone please post the correct information?

I am flying Southwest and I believe when you leave you have to checkin your bags yourself. That's the last I heard. As far as I know they will still take our baggage upon arrival but someone else said they heard otherwise I'm starting to wonder if I should just not check my bag and bring one small enough to take on the plane.

everyone staying at a WDW resort can use the magical express service. You need to call WDW and tell them your flight info. If you have a nonparticipating carrier (such as Airtran, which is mine) then when you leave WDW you will have to check-in at the airport instead of at the hotel. If you have a participating airline, then you can check-in at the hotel and get your gate passes, etc. But everyone gets to ride the shuttle for free. You will get luggage tags sent to you to put on your luggage BEFORE you leave for WDW and they will transfer your luggage to your resort when it arrives in Orlando. You just get on the bus without your luggage! If you have ever done a Disney cruise, then this will be familiar.

Thanks to all of you for the info on the transportation. I'm just a little worried that all of the luggage will not make it to the hotel. Did anyone ever have a problem with this system on the cruise line?

Several people mentioned that Disney will mail your luggage tags 21 days prior to your departure date. I leave in 17 days and haven't received mine yet. If I don't get them by tomorrow, I'm going to call Disney to see what's up.
