Is anyone there this week or last? I'm wondering if the water / marsh activities have started back up again. I heard they were suspended recently. Thanks.

Does anybody know if they have started doing the marsh walks, kayak tours, etc at the resort? Thanks!

Is the suspension because of the incident at the Grand Floridian beach with the alligators?:confused3 I wondered about Kayak rentals at Vero as well?:confused3. Alternatively, when we were at HHI May of '15, we rented jet skiis at the Lighthouse and had so much fun! :thumbsup2::yes::

That what it sounded like in the post I saw. I can't seem to find it again though!

We just left Friday after the week there and as of then you still couldn't book through disney, they told us to contact one of the local companies that do tours and rentals if we wanted to do kayaks or paddleboards.
On other note, if you do go find rentals be aware of the low and high tides, on July 4 the fire company was at resort for a rescue when a teenage girl got stranded in the mud right out past the check-in buildings in the marsh, after all the water went down, she was on a paddleboard. It took them about an hour to rescue her, the mud was like quick sand and they couldn't walk out nor could she walk in and it was about 98 degrees and in direct sun.

Pluff mud. It is the stuff of the South Carolina coast. All Lowcountry fire departments are versed in pluff mud rescue- it is just a time consuming process. She is lucky she didn't try to get out the boat. You haven't grown up here if you haven't lost at least one flip flop or shoe to the pluff.

Thanks for reporting back. Did you notice if they still had any of their guided nature walks? I'm hoping everything will be back to usual by the time we're there in October. I was looking forward to doing some of these - https://hiltonhead.disney.go.com/recreation/guided-nature-walks/ .

We were at HHI from July 2 through 6. We were disappointed that they were not doing water activities while there, so ended up using Outside Hilton Head (kiosk in the Shelter Cove area) to do kayaking instead. Just before we left, they told us that water activities were being started again on July 7, so hopefully you will be fine.
