I just confirmed a stay at HHI for June. We will be staying in a 2BR and there were no view choices available. Does anyone know how the villas are situated? Are all of the villas waterfront? I understand that the actual beach is not on the same property. If the villas are waterfront, do they have a marsh view or a pool view or what?

I'd call back and ask to add requests to your reservation. You may make view requests at any time (just remember that they are only requests).

The view options are marsh view, pool view and islland view and all 2BRs will fit one of those options. The resort is on it's own small island about a mile from the beach. Pool views are ONLY available for 2BRs. None of the Studios, 1BRs or GVs have a pool view.

Here is a description of the layout of the HH resort. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=226883

Enjoy!

We stayed in a 2 bedroom at HHI and we looked at some pine trees in the center of the resort, nothing spectacular but I did LOVE the resort and the beach. I wouldn't worry about view.

hhi is very lovely however you definitly want to be near the pool. the main building feel just like a hotel and is a bit to far from the real charm of south carolina.
the beach and remote pool make for a great outer experience and also is quite nice. anyway you will enjoy a june vacation there.

The resort is very small (123 maximum villas) and nothing is far from the pool. There are no dedicated 2BRs in the Live Oak Lodge (only lock-offs usually reserved as 1BRs and Studios unless you need a HCA villa). You can get to the pool easily within 5 minutes from any room at the resort so that should not be an obstacle.

I wouldn't worry about any location at the resort.

Enjoy! :)

I agree, we never request a location at HHI, they are all special in their own way.

We were there in October and loved HH. The resort is wonderful. So relaxing and laid back. We were in building 12, in a one bedroom in a marsh view. I liked the marsh view. If I were going again and stayed in a two bedroom I would request marsh view. Island view I believe you look at the boats and the buildings across from it. While we were at the pool I thought if I was in a two bedroom right by the pool it could be noisy. It was quiet in October, but I would think in June it would be a bit noisy by the pool. I think there may be about 6 two bedrooms that directly face the pool. We did see people in those units so I'm sure some people do like to be right near the pool.
We loved the island itself, the restaurants, the beach. The beach house is a short drive, just across the street. We had our car. There is a nice pool at the beach house also.
I look forward to going back. I am hoping to get back in October. Have a great trip.

This is a good example of how different things appeal to different people. Since we always get a 1 BR, we usually get the main building and always request it, after a stay in one of the buildings near the center of the resort. I love to be near an evening visit to Big Murgie's Den for my hot apple cider and cookies. However, I've also met other people who prefer the outer buildings, but we like the main lodge building.

I have never had a bad view at HHI and I have had everything except pool view. I personally ask to be near the hot tub and don't worry about the view. It is a very small resort but if you are in a wet bathing suit around Christmas time - you don't want a long walk from the hot tub!

Love the kayaking, love the hot tub, love the walks on the beach! Wish I owned some of the yachts in the marina:lmao:

Thanks so much for your input! Based on your responses, I think we'll just see what we get. We're excited to try the resort.
