Resort Thread Disney's GRAND FLORIDIAN Resort & Spa - **THE PERCH BAR OPEN TODAY 11/8!!!**

I think that they owe you these 2 small requests based on your experience the last time you were there when you got to experience the very, very, very loud Marble work. I will put in a good word for you (just kidding I don't have any influence at the GF).

Dave
I deserve jackhammer credit 😂🤣!!

ETA - hey, @Dave006 - CREDIT APPLIED!!! 🍾🎉

Birdcage Lobby Bar Name & Opening Date Revealed for Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort - NOVEMBER 10th!!!

The Perch at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will open November 10. It is the brand new bar in the lobby of the resort.

The Perch is inspired by the iconic birdcage that was previously in the lobby and will pay tribute to the resort’s Victorian roots. Woodwork, stained glass, and brass accents adorn the bar, which we have already gotten a preview for.

Opposite the bar, guests will still find the Victorian cage-style elevator.

Work has been underway for several months now as Disney refurbishes the lobby, including the bar. Most recently, the floors were revealed along with countertops and shelving.

Sip and savor from a light menu featuring champagne, wine, beer, and two signature cocktails: the Sunshine State Rum Sazerac and the Floridian 75. For a refreshing non-alcoholic option, the Blueberry and Basil Iced Tea is a delightful blend of lemon, blueberry, and basil tea.

Victorian Charm Meets Disney Magic

Above the grand staircase, a new impressionist-style mural imagines what the Grand Floridian may have looked like at the turn of the century, framed by royal and sabal palms (Florida’s state tree!).

Beneath your feet, the new atrium carpet blooms with meaning. Inspired by the Victorian “Language of Flowers,” the design celebrates hospitality, joy, and grace through florals native to Florida’s subtropical landscape.

Look closely and you’ll find a few special nods woven into the pattern — like the orange blossom (Florida’s state flower and a symbol of prosperity), palms, moonstones (Florida’s state gemstone), and even a few Hidden Mickeys tucked among more than 200 individual blossoms.

The Garden View Lounge Returns in 2026

We may be putting the finishing touches on the lobby, but the story doesn’t end there. In early 2026, The Garden View Lounge will reopen with a refreshed look that complements the new lobby design. The space will offer a new tea experience with whimsical Disney touches for guests of all ages.

Grand Floridian Resort Refurbishment To Continue Through Mid-2026

While there are some parts of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort that will be wrapping up refurbishment very soon, Walt Disney World has provided an update on the anticipated refurbishment schedule for the entire resort. More specifically, Walt Disney World has finally provided an ending timeframe for the work. Here’s the latest.

Here’s the new announcement from Walt Disney World, now with a “mid-2026” timeframe for the completion of the work.

As part of the ongoing enhancements at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, refurbishment work will continue in select areas through mid-2026.

Guests may see or hear work during daytime hours. Efforts will be made to minimize disruptions, and most pools, dining, and other amenities will remain available for Guests to enjoy.

As renovations continue at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, the gingerbread display will not be available during the 2025 holiday season.

It’s unclear what the scope of work will be that will last into next Summer, but we expect that the majority of work taking place in the lobby will be wrapped up soon, and the Garden View Lounge is set to open in early 2026.

Finally, after months of checking, I was able to consolidate 2 discounted stays at different resorts into one discounted stay at GF next week. @PolyRob, happy to capture multiple angles of that tilework for you if my flights go as planned!

Also, @mrsap - sending you a picture that I saw on FB this morning of the tile edgework/transition to carpet revealed. I like it better than I initially thought I would! (Can you tell I can’t concentrate at work this week???)
