Resort Thread Disney's GRAND FLORIDIAN Resort & Spa - **THE PERCH BAR OPEN TODAY 11/8!!!**

So is it a given/are we assuming this is a 'real bar' where we can order an ad-hoc proper drink? The posted menu seems super limited (and not particularly interesting) to me.

Hooray!! Thank you!! Tough to tell here, but I’m kinda guessing the tree location will need to be shifted a bit?

First thing I thought of, when I saw that picture, was the tree. I’d think they’d want to put it directly in the center - but there’s room to move it if needed.

I kinda think they’d have to be ready for some hopped-up-on-sugar kiddos (or boozed up adults) to either topple it or impale themselves 😂. Really looking forward to seeing the lobby on Wed!

ETA - hmmm. I don’t know. Maybe enough space??

BREAKING: The Perch at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Officially Open

The Perch at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, the birdcage-styled lobby bar, has soft opened. The official opening is Monday, November 10.

Inspired by the iconic birdcage that was previously in the lobby, The Perch features woodwork, stained glass, and brass accents with Victorian styling to match the lobby.

The bar is built of rich dark wood with stained glass around the top and behind the bar. The right side of the bar is at a lower, accessible height.

Behind the bar, an arched stained glass piece glows behind the glassware shelves. The glass features birds, flowers, and leaves within the Victorian-inspired design.

The crystal globe chandeliers have golden butterfly details.

Marble makes up both the bar top and the inlaid floor. The bar stools feature brown leather seats and filigree patterned velvet.

Here’s a view of The Perch from the second floor.

The bar menu is shaped like the stained glass “window” behind the bar. One side features the circular Grand Floridian “GF” monogram and a delicate vine-like pattern. The other lists the menu, including two signature cocktails and a non-alcoholic option. Check out the full menu for The Perch.

Grand Floridian Refurbishment

Work has been underway at the Grand Floridian for several months now as Disney refurbishes the lobby and several other areas. They recently shared a completion timeline for the construction projects.

It was recently announced that the Garden View Lounge, which has been closed for five years, will reopen with a “refreshed look” and a tea service early next year.

Review: Signature Drinks at The Perch at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

While The Perch doesn’t officially openuntil November 10, the Grand Floridian lobby bar soft opened for guests today with its full menu available.

Florida 75 – $22

Fords Gin, Florida Citrus Cordial, and Lemon topped with Taittinger ‘La Francaise’ Brut Champagne

Review out of 7: 6

This is dangerous. It tastes like a harder mimosa. The gin comes through a bit and, as someone who doesn’t usually like gin, we’d drink this. If you don’t like champagne, skip this obviously, but otherwise mimosa fans unite! We can see the Grand Floridian moms checking in and getting trashed on these ASAP.

Coffee Rum Sazerac – $17.50

Siesta Key Coffee Rum, Demerara, Absinthe Rinse, Peychaud’s Bitters, and Lemon Essence

Review out of 7: 1

No one liked this. It has a super hard alcohol flavor that just smells and tastes of black licorice. We couldn’t get any other notes other than that.

Blueberry and Basil Iced Tea (Non-Alcoholic) – $8

Review out of 7: 5

This mostly tastes of iced tea with a bit of blueberry at the end, but it compliments it well. We do wish the basil would come through a bit more — we’re sure they are still working on these recipes — but overall it’s a solid non-alcoholic offering, although you are still paying $8 for iced tea with some blueberry syrup.

Has anyone who is staying there seen any hints of Christmas decorations going up in the outer buildings? We check in on the 14th and really want to see something Christmasy to go along with all our Holiday partying.

See the wine menu? Never heard of any of those reds.

Agree I don’t think any of those would work for my group either.

Hopefully with Tea Room will have some good champagne.
