So did they get that whole exterior mess with all the scaffolding and construction equipment and crew cleaned up too, or are the rooms just officially done?

From my understanding everything is completed. Someone on Facebook said this today….



Someone else commented that they saw some gardening and painting outside.

I should also mention that somebody said A bus driver told them that because there was still construction going on, Disney is asking families to share rooms at the new VGF, since they are not all done yet. People started freaking out… it was actually pretty comical to read!!!!!!!! I guess not everybody is on the DIS and knows about the bus drivers!!!!!!

That's pretty funny! I can't believe they actually believed that lol! I wonder what is meant by "they're working on the building next door" ...meaning, I wonder how noisy or visible it is... walls and scaffolding like before? I don't check in until the 3rd because I'm at BWI first so I guess things could change between now and then anyway. I'm just hoping for a peaceful experience at the beautiful courtyard pool! I'm guessing that means they're now updating Boca Chica?? I wish someone who is there now would give us more info...

I'd guess BC too. Honestly for March and May trips we stayed and visited GF and it wasnt an issue. I was there the last time they worked on the courtyard pool with big honk'in fence in the middle of the resort. That was ugly. We had a great trip anyways!

I watched a Vlog today. They have a wire fence around Boca Chica and construction equipment all around it. You could kind of see inside the sliding doors and the vlogger said that the rooms had been gutted.

The Vlogger stayed at the DVC resort studios for 3 nights starting with opening day. During the first two days, Disney was quickly adding landscaping all around BPK. I have NEVER seen Disney work so fast. The scaffolding around BPK was gone. I can't believe that they were able to open on time after seeing some of the previous pictures.

Thanks for the information! I agree...amazing that they finished everything on time after seeing those pictures! I tried so hard to find the video you watched on YouTube but no luck. Oh well. I guess I can see for myself soon enough. Hopefully the bar by the Courtyard pool will block most of the construction when we're at the pool. I'll just sit in the zero entry part facing the main building with a frosty beverage in my hand and I'll be fine!

Curious- how many months did it take to complete VGF2? Curious how many buildings will be converted by the end of November... Will be staying for part of the trip in a GV room, crossing my fingers for a converted room!

Work began on March 1 and they just finished in time for the opening on June 20th.

We have had 2 recent trips..but both at the BWI Innkeepers Club..which we've really enjoyed so much it keeps us coming back there...Have a fall trip planned currently at the Poly..but debating now switching to the GF since we have friends staying there same time...we shall see...decisions ..decisions ...lol..
Loving the look of the resort villa rooms..and I understand the refurbed rooms will be looking the same! Wow..biiiig improvement over the current decor!!
Will be reading along and possibly sharing pics in a few months too...

I was also surprised at how fast they finished up the outside of Big Pine Key. I’m sure they would have normally had all of the landscaping and everything finished before opening day and they just happened to be running behind. I don’t think what Kyle experienced is the norm.

I do indeed my GF friend!!! Lol ..
For so many years we stayed at the GF almost exclusively...and then began to branch out to the Epcot resorts...which we love...my idea of the perfect trip stay is a split stay...GF/BWI...but...lol..it's occasionally fun to mix it up...I know u and your family often do splits too...where to next? Are you booked in the new GF resort villa rooms yet??
Btw..everyone might know this already...MVMCP tickets go on sale for AP holders 6/30......another reason to book another trip!!

@BlueSkies lol I do love split stays! We have a WL/BW trip this summer! Have a few months before we’re back at The Grand, but we’ll be in the original DVC building. I like the new rooms, but wouldn’t book them over the original building. Maybe we’ll get to actually meet up this year!!

Yes, I’m pretty sure if it’s not permitted the site will automatically block the link .

Just FYI - DISBoards software won’t automatically block a YouTube video posted from a banned site if it’s hosted on YouTube. It will automatically filter out a specific URL (website address) if it’s a banned site. That’s why if there’s ever any doubt, it’s generally best to post the full URL to the blog or travel agent site in question and if it gets filtered, then you know. Some full blog/vlog/TA names (not URLs, the actual name) are filtered, but many have common words that would be impractical to filter without interfering with normal discourse, so that’s why the URL is usually best.

That of course has limitations as there are some blogs/vlogs that don’t have websites and only have YouTube channels or similar, but the chances are relatively low any of those are not permitted.

Also generally speaking it’s not so much the inadvertent posting of a link or video to a banned site that brushes up against DISBoard rules, it’s when people blatantly and purposely try to bypass the filters by using symbols, rhyming words, hints, or whatever creative way they come up with to refer to the site in question - that’s when things get more serious in terms of warnings/infractions as you’re obviously trying to bypass the filters/break the rules.

I’m also happy to answer any questions via PM if in doubt.
