Resort Thread Disney's GRAND FLORIDIAN Resort & Spa + Construction Updates!! **LOBBY REFURB STARTED 4/14**

With the Poly monorail station under construction, are they running any buses/shuttles from GF to Poly in its place?
Or are the current options to get to Poly (for dinner rez) either boat or the walking path?

Walking would be your best bet, followed by boat. Note sometimes they are running separate boats for MK-GF and MK-Poly rather than all three stops in a loop, at the moment.

When the monorail is not running (generally an hour past MK closing) there is a “gold line” bus that runs between CR, Poly, GF until 11pm.

Hope that helps.

Something new to us at GF last week and seems the same today given the pic, but they were not using a lifeguard for the kids splash area. This is different than our prior GF stays, where one has always been there.

Nothing particularly negative about this change, but with no one there to enforce rules we saw a few times where kids were doing what kids will do.... climbing up the slides, going head first, etc. Also an occasional bigger kid who would normally be told they can’t be there. I didn’t find any of this a problem, just different than the normal rather stringent rule enforcement you usually see at Disney.

I don’t know if this is accurate but I’ve heard a couple of people say it’s hard to fill lifeguard positions in Orlando right now given water parks reopening, a lack of trained guards, etc, so I wonder if they’re tinkering with positions at the moment in places that aren’t deemed as critical life safety spots, such as the splash pad. Again, no basis in that statement, just speculating.

Can anyone tell me if they're doing the refillable mugs at the grand floridian? I do not arrive till 5/14 but a friend of mine is there now and stated she was turned down at Gasparilla grill with her mug.

Yes, they are selling and refilling mugs at Gaspy’s. A server fills a regular cup and you pour it into your mug (or just use the regular cup and keep your mug clean).

You generally need to show your mug or receipt from purchase.

I assume your friend bought the mug when there?
