I had a difficult relationship with my mom, who passed in 2014, but some of my best memories with her were on the two trips we took with her and my dad to the GF. I am so glad that both of you will get your trips! I think they will do a world of good. I’m rooting you both on!

Wow, I'm the first to report it? Awesome to be able to add some new news. Besides the obvious fact that you can't view fireworks from this location presently, the shrub wall, while covering the construction, also blocks the castle view from the outdoor tables at Gaspy's. I normally sit there with an iced coffee in the afternoons, just enjoying the castle view. This trip, I never sat there once. No desire to sit and look at a shrub wall. Took my coffee over to the benches on the side of the marina, where I could see the castle.

Aw man, I hope you have a great time regardless though. Thanks for reporting, I’ve been anxious as our trip gets closer about any kind of construction and this is a real bummer. I love sitting on that patio! Hopefully this work will finish up before we go next month. Now I’m even more glad that our TA moved us to TPV when the AP discounts released. At least we will have castle views from the room.

Thanks to you and all of the other DISers who have reached out with kindness. It’s so deeply appreciated that I really don’t have the words. I finally got back home from down south and things are still a little surreal, but you guys and others have really helped me give myself permission to shift into vacation mode. It’s one thing to try and tell yourself it’s okay but it really helps hearing it from others, especially people who understand the love of Disney too. We’re going to toast Mom in Germany (her favorite pavilion, and favorite country to visit “irl"!).

Thank you so much, Beth. Our GF memories are some of my favourites, too. Going through old photos and organising them in albums - WDW albums, at that - has reminded me of those wonderful times. Thanks for the photos! I've had that high wall balcony with my room before - which some love for privacy - but I was very sad, even with pillows piled on the chairs I could not see over the top when sitting lol. I would definitely have traded my lagoon view for a standard view without that wall. But just told myself it was a reason to enjoy my next trip even more

So very sorry for the loss of your mother. I just backed up a few pages and saw that you're planning a commemorative trip and that's wonderful. Organizing photo albums is such a good way to remember wonderful times.

*7/25/24 - M. Mouse Mercantile has REOPENED!

*6/25/24 - Announced Refurbishment of the Convention Center from Summer 2025-Fall 2025.

*M. Mouse Mercantile STILL CLOSED for Refurbishment at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort. Expected to Reopen July 13.

*Work on the Lobby has NOT STARTED to date.

*6/1/24 (estimated) - Construction outside of Porte Cochere/Monorail Platform area has now been completed. Scaffolding has been removed from the area.

*5/20/24 - M. Mouse Mercantile NOW CLOSED for Refurbishment at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort. Expected to Reopen July 13.

*Work has NOT started on the lobby as of today.

*4/29/24 - M. Mouse Mercantile Closing for Refurbishment at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort Starting May 13 to Mid-July

As of 4/17/24, the only visible construction at The Grand was located outside the Main Building. Pictures taken during my trip last week can be viewed below. According to emails sent to guests, as well as blogs, work on the Lobby should begin soon. NO DATES HAVE BEEN GIVEN AS FAR AS START OR COMPLETION DATES. As information becomes available, I will be sure to update this thread (Page 1 included). No information has been given regarding any additional work at this time. I’d appreciate anyone who has trips coming up, if they’d kindly post any new construction indoors or out. I’d love to keep this thread as up to date as possible. Thanks so much!!!

Since March 2022, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has been undergoing a period of enhancement to continuously improve the magic of this fantastic Resort.

Walt Disney Travel Company International have just been made aware that some aspects of this ongoing period of enhancement will continue to take place during your stay through 2025. This will include some minor work where the lobby will be undergoing some enhancements but will remain fully accessible. We would like to take the opportunity to assure you that these minor enhancements will not deter from the comfort and luxury of your stay at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

Room remodels are completed. There remains work to be done in the lobby & at least 1 shop is currently being worked on.

My CM daughter and I were caught in a similar storm on my last day. Water up over our ankles in Fantasyland. I heard reports of Tomorrowland being awash as well. We just laughed through the storm and headed back to the GF.

If this was this past Monday, August 26 then I can confirm that Tomorrowland was flooded. Our shoes were soaked because of the "lakes" that formed during the downpour.

I didn’t even see one when I was there in July. The guy in Bell Services pulled it up on his phone for me.

They do not post in the lobby anymore, for some reason. You can always look in the DVC lobby… if you come in through the back door, it should be straight ahead on the right hand side. It’s a digital board right above the DVC podium. There should also be one by the Courtyard Pool. Some have also reported seeing it on the bar top on the Beach Pool Bar.
