Resort Thread Disney's GRAND FLORIDIAN Resort & Spa + Construction Updates!! **LOBBY REFURB STARTED 4/14**

Does anyone have any info on how big the 5th sleeping spot is on that sofa in the new GF rooms (not DVC if that matters)? Is it almost the size of a twin? My son will be sleeping on it, and I just want to know if I need to have a backup in mind.
It’s def as long as a twin, a long one, looks like.

Looking down into the lobby today. I didn’t notice this the other day, bit it was there then as well - they are redoing the paneling inside the “staging”/storage/crane area. My guess is that this will shift to different parts of the lobby floor as they work on the paneling on the lobby floor and the walls facing the lobby. That we’ll see this “staging” area move as the progress. But again, just a guess.

Thank you for reporting! Have fun!

There still is a sofa bed in the remodeled rooms. It is pretty close to a twin bed size. It fits an adult. :)

They seem a bit longer than the previous ones. We've had adults sleep on them for a few nights without issue. Our 15 year old son slept on a new one beginning of month and he said it was longer than the one he slept on before they renovated the rooms.

Is it possible to see the penguin fountain without staying at GF or do you need to scan your band to enter the building where it is located?

I've got a question unrelated to the construction: does anyone know why Narcoossee's isn't taking reservations at the 60-day window? I made ADRs around 7AM 60 days out from our 12-day stay at the end of August and there was nothing available, and there still isn't. I had no problem getting every other reservation. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this experience previously and if and when they were able to get a table later. Thanks!

I've experienced this with a number of restaurants and I'm not sure why. Even for my longer trips (two weeks), there was nothing available at the two week mark.

Keep checking every day. If it's any consolation, I've never had difficulty getting a Narcoossee's reservation the day before/day of.

It seems as if they’re delaying the release Narcoossee’s reservations beyond 60 Days. You can check out this thread HERE, as they have been discussing the topic. Good luck!

I had no issue with Narcoosees 60 days out for very end July but did with Citricos, found out they were closed on Mondays. Once I changed the day I had no issues. Just a thought

Thanks! Definitely looks like things open up later but no one on that thread seemed to know why. I'm not too worried about it though. Ok, back to our regularly scheduled programming....:P

I totally forgot this until I saw your post

When I was there the beginning of the month, friends that are cast members of mine saw Narcoossee's was going to close again. There were a few mistakes and few things that still needed fixing and probably shouldn't have opened so fast.

By the time we left the information changed and they were going to do to the changes while they were opened just during the day. Management felt with the main building a mess they didn't want to close Narcoossee's again.

I hope this helps, maybe the system isn't updated with the change or maybe it changed again. Best of luck!

I had the same experience when I booked for our most recent May trip. They must not be releasing them at the 60days. I kept checking and checking in disbelief that they could have booked so quickly on the 60days. I think it was about 1 week - 2 weeks later they had tons of availability and I assumed that was the day they finally released the reservations. I would just recommend checking everyday.

Since Narcoossee's reopened from the refurb they often seem to not load reservations until somewhere between 45 and 30 days in advance. Once they're loaded, they aren't too hard to get, especially if you need a table for 2 or 4. If you have a bigger group, you're going to want to check back once or twice a day so you don't miss out.
