Disney's Grand Californian

Curious to know how fast/often 1night waitlist requests clear or become available relatively close in <2months and how the waitlist clearing works. We live in nearby San Diego and typically stay off-site, but as we age, VGC is becoming much more attractive. Don't mind doing the waitlist for a a requested day to open since we can cancel award stays close in at other nearby hotels, but just need to know how often it does and whether it's worth the hassle to buy VGC and requests -- especially if they don't clear and need to resort to 8month+ out planning.

Disney don't do much ROFR on VGC so they don't have to deal with California. It's resale if you want VGC.

Seriously? That’s interesting. I’ve seen a few attractive contracts but figured they would get ROFR’d. Waiting through that month for our BCV contract was painful. I’d be much more tempted to put an offer in if I could be somewhat confident about not getting ROFR’d.

I've done several (7? 8?) one-night studio waitlists within 7 months and only gotten one filled. You might have better luck with the 1BRs. I wouldn't recommend buying unless you want to commit to planning at least 7 months out.

Have you seen the ROFR thread? Lowest that's passed recently is $184 (none reported as being ROFR'd).
