Disney's FORT WILDERNESS CABINS & CAMPGROUNDS Thread

Will we be able to make rope drop if we have to wait on the boats to get to the magic kingdom?? It says they start 30 min before opening, but is this enough time?? Any suggestions?

If you're worried about it you can always hop on the boat that goes to the Contemporary and walk over to MK. Those boats start running at 6:45AM every day and the walk from the Contemporary to MK is under 10 minutes at a leisurely pace.

We are excited here now and watching the trucks taking cabins out of loop 2100. Wish we could buy one and set it up at home! Does anyone know where they will end up? Ebay?!! Just kidding about that but really would love to buy one.

Sorry about this question - I'm sure it somewhere - what time do Chip n' Dale start? We are looking to be there May 28th. Thanks.

Here's the times for April, the May Activities Calendar won't be published until May 2nd or 3rd. If the times do change, it wouldn't be by much.

7:30pm - Campfire Lighting
8:00pm - Campfire Sing-A-Long
8:40pm - Movie Starts

I do not know where this round of cabins is going, but the when they changed out the old trailers to the new cabins, those ended up in a retirement community. I used to remember the name, but I cannot right now.

New to this thread, so I apologize if it is posted. My parents will be camping in November, although we have been to WDW numerous times no one has ever camped. What are the check in times for the camp ground? I could not find it on the main posts, unless I missed it. The same as resorts? Wondering how early they might be able to get their site so I can plan our day. Thanks.

1PM for the Campsites.

We are booked with DDP! My party of six (me, DH, 3 DS ages 11, 9, and 6, and DD age 2) will be spending Halloween at the Fort! Oct 30-Nov 4. Anything we should know about the holiday?
Thanks for the tip about taking the boat to CR and then walking to MK.
First trip for me to WDW in 25 years, and first trip for everyone else in the family. Excited!

Looks like we may be joining the FW Cabins for our FD stay this year!
We needed a room for 5 and a cabin or a suite at ASMu is all that was available for us so i am trying to decide which one we want to choose!

We have never stayed at FW before so that is exciting!

My only concern is the bus and transportation on the property and to the parks.

This is a girls trip, celebrating my sweet 82 year old mama that has never been to Disney before!

It will be me (56), my daughters (26 & 37), my sister (49) and my sweet mama (82).

My concern, even though my mom gets around very well to be 82, she will need a wheelchair to get around the parks and resort and knowing that there is a separate bus within the resort, getting on and off with a wheelchair just to take us to the actual buses to the resort and having to get on and off again, may be way too much.

Thoughts???
Also I read a thread a little way up about the buses running just 30 minutes before park opening. What is we have a pre-park breakfast ressie? We have one at MK and one at AK. Will that give us enough time to get there?

Please be honest so I can move us if we need to.

I would love to hear from anyone that has dealt with the bus system and a wheelchair. Thank you so much!

The busses run earlier than 30 minutes before the parks open. I can't remember exactly but it's the same as the other resorts.
Now the boat which runs to the MK starts 30 minutes before opening. There is another boat which runs to the contemporary and starts about an hour and half earlier. But then you'd have to walk which may not be ideal. It's about a 10 minute walk. Or take the monorail around to the MK.
The other option is a bus which goes to wilderness lodge and then on to the MK.

There are 2 ends of the campground where you can get transportation. The outpost is near check in and you catch busses to every park and DTD except to MK. For MK you catch the boat at the opposite end at the settlement depot. Or get on the bus near the hoop dee doo.

You can request loop 2800 and be the closest to the outpost depot.

I can't help with your concern about the internal bus or wheelchair concern.
We rented a golf cart to get around.

The camping forum is a good place to get info about the fort

Just want to point out that cabins have one small bathroom. I can't imagine 5 adults in that space. Also, the bunk beds are twins and not as long as a queen sized bed. Just something to consider. The all star suites would have 2 bathrooms.
Personally, with 5 adults like that....I would get two rooms, not a suite...but that's only my opinion

Hi,

I need to go to Orlando for work in February 2017, and we're thinking of bringing our camper to Ft. Wilderness. My husband would like to work while I'm at the conference. I saw that you can rent a cable modem from Ft. Wilderness with a deposit. Does anyone know what the connectivity is like? He needs to be able to reach a remote desktop, so we need to know if the speeds are viable to do this.

Thanks so much!

Suzanne

Believe it is all wireless now. Pretty new. May still be shaking it down.

I would post this question on the " Camping at Walt Disney World " forum here on the DIS rather than here on the Resorts Forum. Lots of friendly FW experts there.

We have booked to come for 2 weeks to FW cabins over Christmas. It will be me, my dh, ds 10, ds 7, dd 5 and ds 4. We are hiring a car but the cost of the golf buggies is too much for us as we would need 2. I want to request a good location, ideally near to a restaurant for qs dining and to refill our drinks mugs. Where should we request? We have never stayed at FW before only PO so it's all new for us but very exciting!
