Disney's FORT WILDERNESS CABINS & CAMPGROUNDS Thread

:cool1::woohoo: Y'all made it!!!! Hope you have a fabulous trip. And wow!! They're sending someone to pick you up??! Nice!! Can't wait to hear all about it. Which loop did you get?

We are in the 800 loop. Seems like a great location! The can pick up was awesome. They picked us up right at our campsite and dropped us at the gates of AK. Definitely ask about it if you have an early ADR! We tipped the driver but definitely better than taking a taxi! We had a great day yesterday at Animal Kingdom, dinner at AKL, then the evening at MK. We also did Mickey's Backyard BBQ on our arrival day. We were nervous with all the negative reviews but we loved it!!! Today is a down day at the fort.

Hi,
We will be staying at Wilderness Lodge next week. I was going to order from garden grocer, but a friend of DH's who goes to a WDW a lot more than we do said we should just get our grocery needs from one of the trading posts at fort wilderness, as he gets a discount as a CM. So, what exactly is available? Milk, soy milk, cereal, fresh fruit, bottled water--are all these available? Thanks!!!:)

DD(almost 3) is obsessed with horses so I want to visit the ranch when we're at WL in July. What are their hours and how much are the pony rides? Anyone know?

I looked at the BBQ but decided against it...have also thought about HDR...not sure if the kids (7 and 3) would enjoy it as much though?

We chose the BBQ because of te ages of our boys (1,4,7). We figured in a few years we would do HDD. We think our 7 year old would love it now but our 1 and 4 year old prefer the characters. It was also quite a bit cheaper at least at this time of year to do the BBQ.

I checked today and they had regular milk, no soy milk though. Fresh fruit was just bananas and apples. They had a few cereals and Cases of the small bottles of dasani water. Prices were high, of course.

DH and I are considering changing our December trip from POR to FW Cabins. We have three girls, ages 12, 9 and 7 so the space offered in the cabins is certainly enticing. As is the fact that we could sit out on the deck with a glass of wine at the end of the day. We also like the idea that it's so close to the MK without paying deluxe prices.

I'm a little confused about the golf cart situation. I read they are $59/day for the 4-seater, which might work as youngest DD is very petite and can maybe sit on my lap. Is there a weekly rental rate as well? Are there outside companies that will rent you a golf cart and deliver it?

We're on the fence about renting a car while there as well. Are there advantages to having one at FW? If we don't rent a car, what about groceries? Is Garden Grocer a good option for the cabins?

I think that's it for now. I'm sure I'll think up many more questions for you all.

The pony rides are $5.00. Our son loves them! I'm not sure of the hours, we have been around noon-4pm before and it has been open. Make sure you walk thru the stables also, the horses are beautiful!

Just in case you didn't know, The Mercantile at WL sells many groceries and would be much more convenient if staying there. If you plan on driving to get groceries, then I would just drive to the HESS or WM instead of to FW, but all the items you mention are available at WL. I have photos of the groceries HERE in the WL thread.

 Howdy, Heather!

Just made our switch from POR to Fort Wilderness Cabins for Sept 13 to 20, is there a loop for the cabins that is better for getting around to the trading post and pools?

Has anyone by chance seen the May movie schedule yet? Excited for planning and sooo close!:cool1:

I posted this in the wrong spot earlier! Please help!
Hi! I have a 7:50 am ohana reservation for breakfast and mk doesn't open early that morning so the boat to mk would not be running yet from the fort, but it is my understanding that the fw boat that goes to the contemporary would be and that we can take the resort monorail from the contemporary to the poly? Does this make sense and is it right?
Thanks!

Yes that is right, we had the same reservation time in March for Ohana and that is how we got there. We caught the first internal bus up to the settlement at 7:00, then boat to the Contemporary, Monorail to the Polynesian and made it in plenty of time.

My 5 y/o neice LOVED HDR! she giggled the entire time. Now of course, she didnt understand some of the jokes as they were for the older ones, but she laughed cause everyone else was laughing. She is a very picky eater as well, but she ate almost 6 pieces of chicken! we could not get over how much she loved it!

After much debate, number crunching, and resort changing... we are booked in the Fort Wilderness cabins from September 21-29 with FD!

I booked our golf cart today! SO EXCITED!

I am switching a lot of our ADRs around and was wondering if the HDDR is worth it? Our kids will be 8, 5, 2, 2?

Thank you!

Just booking the cabins for this November as my mom and dad just decided to join our group :D My question is how good is the transportation? should I seriously consider renting a car????? we only do one park a day and such but is it better to have our own way to get around?
