Disney's FORT WILDERNESS CABINS & CAMPGROUNDS Thread

There is still snow on the ground here but we are going to Disney this week!!!

We will start loading up the camper tonight. Looking at overnight temps I can finally feel comfortable dewinterizing and sanitizing the water system. On Thursday we will load the food, bikes and hook up. We leave early Friday and will be at the Fort on Saturday!!:yay::cool1::banana:

Sounds WONDERFUL. Have a great time!!

We'll be in a cabin from August 20 to the 23. Trying to decide if we want a golf cart or not. It will be me, my wife, my sister, and my 2 year old daughter. We'll have bikes but in August, we probably won't feel like riding too much.

Golf carts are nice to get around the campground area. It's a large area to try and walk, but there are buses as well. We rented a cart and LOVED it!
Do you have a preference on a loop? That may make a difference on a cart rental decision.

Maybe I'm just lazy but I find I enjoy the fort a lot more with a golf cart to buzz around with.this May will be our third visit and I wouldn't want to be without one.

This is our first time there and we got cabin. I didn't request a specific loop.

If you're gonna rent a cart it doesn't matter what cabin you're in , as far as I'm concerned the more remote the better but if you're not gonna have one , if you take a look at the fort map you'll see some of the cabins are closer to amenities or bus stops and if they're available sometimes you can request one in a certain loop. It doesn't hurt to call and inquire anyways.

Hello fellow Fort Wilderness fans! I have a question about the wagon ride around the resort. I am aware of where it starts from, but does it operate every day, and are there set times? I've researched a bit but times seem to vary. We have an ADR at Trails End at 6:15pm one night, and I'd like to adjust this time so that we can take the wagon ride around to check out the resort. Thanks for all your help!

Go back to page one on this thread and scroll down to "wagon rides "
Should give you all the info you need.
Have a great ride

Does anyone know if I can wheel my sons wheelchair on the boat to MK?
The MK Motor Cruiser will accommodate wheelchairs, ECVs and strollers, unless the water level is too low or it's windy, which can make embarkation risky.

Just spent my day Disney Dreaming... we are just over a month away from checking into our cabin! Today I shopped on Ebay for Disney Hawaiian shirts so we can have Hawaiian shirt day! Still need to order my Garden Grocer groceries... Golf cart is reserved from Kenny... and just made Anna and Elsa FP+ ressies! YAY!!! The ONLY thing left to fall into place (if the stars align) is for 7 Dwarves to open while we're there!! Our last day at MK is May 1, so here's hoping.... wish I had a magic mirror that would tell me! Could. Not. Be. More. Excited!

OH! My REAL reason for chiming in is that I am feeling inspired to go to Michael's and get the makings for a Disney wreath for the cabin door... We check out on May 1st, and I am a Kiwanian... tempted to auction it off for a donation to the theeliminateproject.org and I will gladly deliver it to your door for you to enjoy and pass along to another family of campers at the end of your trip... and so on... and so on.... I will post pics when it's done! Hopefully in a few days...

Hi all!! I've been MIA for days!!! Between baseball, cheer and taekwondo, we're going crazy around here  Countin' down those days until vacation!!!

Do you know what Tri-Circle D stands for? This and more in Jim Korkis' article on the Tri-Circle D Ranch HERE.

Jack Spence's MAGIC KINGDOM SHOOTIN' GALLERY article.

Eight hours of labor to re-paint it every night!

Hi there, Kook! You're always a wealth of Disney knowledge:worship: We thank you kindly for all the info!!!

Hope all is well over on the WL thread! Since you're the hostess with the mostess, I'm sure things are rolling right long. I need to get over there and review your notes for the lodge....times drawing near!

Greetings all. Just booked a cabin for July 12-19. There are six of us, and this was the most reasonable priced resort that could accommodate us. We have a lot of learning to do, definitely some great information on the first page of the thread.

Excellent news!!! :thumbsup2 We'll get your dates posted on the first page. Happy Planning!!!

We are going to try camping for a surprise trip :goodvibes
The kids are not expecting to go until late in 2015 so a bonus camping trip will be fun. I am very excited to finally stay at the Fort!

More good news!!! What's better than a surprise trip Disney??!! :woohoo: That's exciting! Now...will you be able to really keep it a secret?? ;)

I have been looking at some pictures of the cabin exteriors, and I would tend to agree. It was just a weird thought I had to maybe give us a little more room.

Nothing's weird at Disney...really! My DH always says that it's one of the few places grown men can proudly wear Mickey shirts and Mouse ears and not get a second look.

Well thank heavens I checked the boards tonight, or I would have missed giving you and your family the proper send off....

:dance3: :cool1: :thumbsup2 :woohoo: :cheer2:

and of course, a send off wouldn't be complete without the infamous Dance King...

:dancer:

Very excited for y'all!! Will you be posting while on vacation???? No pressure or anything :rolleyes1

:woohoo: Fun will be had by all!!! If you can swing it...go for the cart ::yes:: lots of fun!

Not lazy....it's called convenience ;)

Wish I could say that I've experienced the wagon ride, but we haven't. I've only waved goodbye as the wagon rolled away. Looks like lots of fun for the family.

Glad you got the FPs you wanted. I'm so looking forward to the new Mine Train!! Hope it opens for y'all!!!

Post a pic!!!! Would you believe we have the base of the wreath made...finally. Did it out of grapevine- a Mickey. In fact, I have it hanging on the gable of our workshop  I'll get a picture and post.

I totally understand that, between cub scouts, planning this trip and a couple of others, teaching Sunday School, planning for Vacation Bible School and other church commitments and an insane work schedule this past couple weeks something had to give so we ended up giving up baseball this year.

Just got the boys off to school so now it time to get the camper and truck loaded, head to the grocery store, get the truck gassed up, hook up and be ready to pull out some time in the wee hours of the morning.

I will try to post some while we there.

Thanks, getting really antsy to get on the road.

Camper is pretty much loaded up, once my wife gets back from getting the boys from school I'll finish installing the portable DVD players in the truck and get everything hooked up.

Found a couple more things at walmart for the camper.

Mickey trash can

Mickey hand towels

also got some Mickey shower curtain hangers but forgot to snap a picture.

Also got some decals I bought off of ebay on the camper and truck
