Has anyone ever done the Family Magic Tour at the Magic Kingdom? I'm trying to decide if I should book it for our trip in July but I really don't know much about it.....HELP!

Yes, we've done it and loved it. In fact, my photo in my sig was from the end of the tour (hope I'm not ruining any surprises with that!). You haven't stated who would be participating - it is definitely aimed at young children.

ETA: I should describe it a bit, but I'm not sure how much you've read about it. Participants go on a scavenger hunt through the MK, doing silly things along the way. It's a fun time for the kids, and for us adults willing to let our hair down.

It'll be me (26 the biggest kid of all), Mom (47), my little sis (8), and my nephew (5)....we really hadn't read much about it though, all the brouchre said was a fanciful tour in a magical place, it didn't give any idea what the tour really was....hope it's fun. Thanks for your help! What you told me was more than I knew.

We loved the Family Magic Tour, our kids were 7&9 at the time, parents 33&34! The tour makes everyone feel like special guests of the Magic Kingdom. You learn a lot about the MK as you go from one clue to the next, plus you get preferred seating on a ride with a character! Make sure you have you camera and autograph book with you! Have fun being a kid at heart!

Thanks for all the help! I think I'm gonna book this tour! It sounds like fun! My mom laughs at me and says I'm the biggest kid she know! She tells me I can never have kids, B/c I would buy them sooo many toys so I can play with them. :rotfl: I told her thats why I have to become a teacher so I can have the kids around and not have to spend so much $$

The Family Magic Tour is unforgetable. My kids talk about it all of the time. Wendy and Peter were great. I would highly recommend this tour.

Through guest services? Also do you think a very young 12 year old and a very old 8 year old might like it?

My kids were 9,6 and 3 at the time. My 9 yr old had a great time. There were only two other boys (about 6 and 8) on our tour.
It's fun for adults and kids. Peter Pan surprised me and I could not stop laughing for a long time from being so startled.

This sounds like a FABULOUS thing for us to do on our day at MK on my youngest daughter's birthday during our next trip!

Do you have to reserve ahead of time or just show up before 10am meeting at a specific place, pay there and away you go? Let me know if you need to reserve a spot on this ahead of time?

You have to reserve a spot. You can call 90 days in advance. We had a lot of fun last year. DS7, DD4 and DD 21 months (slept the whole time but woke up for Peter and Wendy at the end) loved it. It's a two hour tour and you feel really special walking thru the park to a ride with the characters. DD held Wendy's hand to Mickey's Philharmagic and sat by her. She had to wear her hair in a pony tail the rest of the week! We got to go to the front of the line and everybody wonders how you get to do this. It's great fun!

We had a great time! I took dd 10 and ds 5 on ds's birthday. They both had a blast! Beforehand, I gave ds 13 the chance to opt out and do something with dh instead, because I didn't know if he would find it too babyish or have a hard time being silly. In some ways, I wish I'd just booked the whole family. Ds would have been fine...it wouldn't have been his favorite part of the trip, but he wouldn't have hated it. Then again the two "big boys" had a lot of fun on their own for those couple of hours.

I have it booked in July and can not WAIT to go on it!!! I've read lots about it and think it will be an absolute blast!!! It will be me, my kids DD-11, DS-8 & DS-5. I haven't told them about it as this is a surprise for them on our last day! My DH & DS-1 are not going on it because DH is "Grumpy" and would never get into it and the 1 year old I think is too little to care. So, I'm sending them off to go do whatever they want while I have fun with the older kids.

Just booked this for our April trip! I'm so excited! Does anyone know how many(as far as maximum) they allow? I'm sure they keep it small, but just wondering and I forgot to ask the reservationist. Thanks!

I have this booked for our May trip... for anyone interested .. you don't have to wait until 90 days to book this one... not sure what the cut off date is but I am more than 90 days out!

Also, they charge your credit card at the time of the reservation not when you show up for the tour. You can cancel up to 48 hours in advance!

Unless you are on a Gold or Premium because I don't remember my charge card actually being charged...of course, I reserved a long time ago so I don't specifically remember but I know I told the reservationist I was on the Gold plan and she told me to just bring our Key card and it would be taken care of then. I will have to look and update as I might have been charged and didn't think anything of it at the time. OK, just looked and nope, no charge for it but I have confirmation numbers since I reserved 2 tours that day. Now, if I don't show up or cancel within 48 hours, they will put the charge through. That was the way I understood it but it might be because of being on the plan. I hope they have us there!!! That would be a big bummer to show up and not be in the system (although with confirmation #'s I should be OK, I would think!).

We did this tour last year, and had a wonderful time. My boys were 11 & 8, and really enjoyed themselves (Ok... DH & I had fun as well). If you have a Disney Visa you can get 25% off.

You will have as much fun as you allow yourself to. If you are willing to act silly, not care what people think as you hop, skip and jump thru parts of the park, or as you congo line around you WILL have a great time!

I reserved last week and was actually charged - it's gone thru my bank already... maybe it's becuase of your plan?

I really didn't mind becuase I don't use credit cards and actually used a debit card - it has a daily limit so this $50 will be less actaully billed to the card while i'm there ---- more money to spend!

True!! I wouldn't have cared if they charged it and then credited it back, just I know I wasn't charged and I don't know if it's because I told them I had the plan or they changed the way they reserve? :confused3 I also reserved the Steam Train Tour the same day and no charge for that either. They DID take my credit card information though. As long as I'm in the system and I'm getting my tours, all is well :earsboy: I may have to call later and verify we are in the system.

I booked it two weeks before I got there. Best fun I've had in years! If you're an adult, you MUST, MUST, MUST resolve to become a kid again!!! pirate: be goofy  and really get into the swing of things. If you're not willing to participate, then save your money and spend it elsewhere. But, if you're up for some great fun and want to have a great day at the truly most magical place on earth, go for it! Make some memories with your kids. Have a blast. CM Linda was our tour guide and she was fabulous! :cheer2:
