Hello everyone
My wife and i just got back from a cool, but nice quick trip to see the mouse. We had a really nice time, but i have to warn you of Disney's evil secret!

You ready?

DISNEY PIN TRADING!!!!!!

Ok, so it's not too evil, but it got your attention.
I went to one of the Kiosks to get a lynard for my annual pass and other forms to keep with me, and i saw all of the pins. I figured i'd get one or two of my favorite characters.....Then the collector in me roused itself up...and i was hooked.

I didn't know that many of these pins came in sets of 3 or 4; and of course i started on my hunt for 2 of these sets.
One was the Incredibles, and the 2nd was the muppets. I found all but 2 pins, but have no fear, i'll find them eventually.

Again, i'm a collector of different things, and this one will have to be monitored carefully, or i'll be paying more for the pins than i am in points!

Just my 2 cents worth...
Mark

Sorry, I am going to make it worse. We got a Movie Stop in our town. Everytime time I buy a Disney movie my daughter gets a Disney Pin. So far she has got a Enchanted(Giselle)Pin,National Treasure 2 Pin, Sleeping Beauty Pin, and a Wall-E Pin. My understanding is that a Disney pin is available for any new Disney release on a first come first serve basis.

Ok...So Jess and I LOVE pins....We collect them all, and we now have over 600 in display cases on the walls!!! We are so hooked!! Its great to find a pin that is from a special ride or event you did..

We go to NYC a couple times a year to fulfill our pin addiction :cool1:

You can see our pins here:

We are avoiding the Pins. My wife and I are terrified the kids will start!

Its not the kids you have to worry about, its the adults! My DH got into collecting about 2 years ago, I dread him going in the stores looking while DD and I are on the rides. He will buy at least 5 pins per visit.

You and my DH think alike! :lmao:

Pins certainly are addictive! I remember a mere 3 years ago when I wasn't interested in pins. Then on July 3, 2005 (the day I got engaged and the day DH and I were chosen to be grand marshalls of the MK parade- see pic in sig), I met a cast member that had a Connecticut pin on her lanyard. I asked her if she was from CT (like DH and I), and she told me no, that her pins were just for trade. She then asked me if I traded pins, and when I said "no", she took the pin off her lanyard, handed it to me and said "I think you should start". :rotfl2:

Seriously, I hope that cast member is sitting pretty in some posh office now, because three years and 600 pins laters, I don't even want to think about how much money she has made for the Disney company!

Pins are definately evil- but also sooo wonderful! :lovestruc

During our trip in March I decided it would be fun for my 2 DSs to do some pin trading. I figured it would be one more fun thing to do for them in case we faced long lines for rides. I bought them each a grab bag of 10 pins each. Guess who was the one that was totally into it?! Oh yeah, it was me. Every time one of them went to trade with a CM I'd be like ooohhh I like that one! They usually chose a different one.

So when I went down in Sept. w/DH I decided I'd do some trading "for them". I bought myself a bag of 10 pins too. Now I'm totally addicted to it. Lucky for me the pins that I traded for that I loved (Lady & the Tramp) they had no interest in when I got home, but they did take all the cute Mickey pins I found. Can't wait to go again in Jan. & see how much trouble I can get myself into then!

I would recommend adding a spin on this post to include DVC or the post police will banish you to another board.

Keep your eye out at your local Disney store as they sometimes carry the pins and mark them down substantially. Also, they are not always out and are sometimes kept behind the register so be sure and ask a cast member if you don't see them.pirate:

As this is not a DVC specific topic, I'm moving this thread to the Community Board.

Wah ha ha..cough..gasp...We have managed to snag yet another would be WDW visitor into our lair...our diabolical plan to decorate lanyards, everywhere with cute, shiny, little pins of beloved Disney characters is working.

Wait until you get to a pin meet at WDW...closest thing to heaven without dying.::yes::

I fell in love with pin trading. When I got home and was showing my DBF my pins he comment that it was nice I found small keepsake. Then I showed him the price tag on the back of a trading pack and he about passed out :rotfl:

Well it helped that one of the presents I brought back for him was a pin with Micky saluting on a red white and blue ribbon. Its easy to get him into anything as long as it has something to do with the army :rolleyes1 Not that I would ever use that to get him to support my pin problem

:lmao: Of course, not. Smart girl.::yes:: Wish I had thought of that. Awh...but next time I will be prepared. I will bring him over to the pin side.

He is a fan of the size though. He seems to think I have to much stuff, don't know where he gets that idea
