Are Disney's discounts better than renting points for Aulani right now? 30% off? Just curious.

I would say it depends on where you rent and what price they are charging. In a pinch I’ve rented out as low as $18 per point on the dvc rental section of this web page.

One other factor to consider is the cost of parking if you will have a car. When you stay on DVC rented points there is no charge for self parking. If you stay on a Disney booked trip, you'll be charged for parking. I think the current cost is $35/night but perhaps others can verify.
