DISNEY'S CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information Thread!

Ds6 knows we're going to WDW for his birthday 8/23. We heading down on the 22nd.

Is there anything we can do to make it more special? Have something delivered?

We're staying in the tower. Is there any special amenities that come with that? Is Concierge a special floor?

Any advice would be appreciated.

We stayed at CR many moons ago during a Disneyana convention and loved it. Only have to swing a few days, but plan to stay at the resort most of the time and enjoy it.

If you go to this website, there are MANY different types of food, flower, and gift baskets that you can have delivered to your room. They cannot leave it in your room before you check in, but they will deliver it to you upon arrival.

Look under 'gourmet baskets' for some of the more 'fun' kid-type stuff


You can also call the CR main line and ask to be transfered to room service and they can hook you up with some different foody surprises.

COOL!!!!!!! Even though you didn't post this to me, THANKS! I ws looking for some other options. I just knew about the disney floral site since we are using them for our wedding.

Are you on the concierge floors? It is special, in that you have foods put out in the concierge common room all throughout the day...everything from bagels and pastries in the morning to tera marsu and other wonderful desserts in the evening...and the service is the best. Anything you can need they can find...once during the Disneyana convention I decided I wanted a video camera for the weekend, (the parks ones had to be returned each day) the Concierge found me one off property where they would deliver it to the concierge for me so I didn't have to wait around. Then at the end of the weekend they held it for me so I didn't have to be in the hotel for the company to come pick it up. Wonderful CM's.
OH, and always remember to tell them if you have a special occasion...sometimes the hotel will send you something special.

You will love the concierge floor, it is one of my favorite. I can't wait to go back in December. Congrats on your upcoming wedding. Are you getting married on Disney property? How exciting! I been married over 20 years, but I still remember .

Thank you! Yes, we're getting married at the wedding pavilion and then holding our reception at the California Grill. Then we're having an Illuminations dessert party that night. Anyone who will be at the CR between July 10-19, we'll be there!!

Has anyone (adult) tried to sleep in the sofa bed? Is it comfortable? Did you fit?

I have this strange feeling that I'm going to end up in that bed - at least part of the week we are there. Last time our family was at a hotel with 2 beds and a pull out couch, I ended up on the darn uncomfortable pull-out! (Which still could be better than sleeping with a 3yo, though.)

My DH is 6'1" and 190 pounds. He fit on it fine and said it was very comfortable. It is the size of a twin bed. HTH!

Thank you!! I absolutely will! I'll try to take lots of CR and CG pictures. It will be neat to see the CG set up for something other than normal dinner service



It's good to know about the sofa bed. My sister and her husband are going to be bunking with us and with my mom on varying nights due to the CR filling up so quickly and half our wedding guests being left out in the cold So it's good to know that taller men can sleep there comfortably Thanks!!

Check the room service menu for special items you can have delivered to your room. I had a white chocolate monorail delivered for DH's birthday -- it was too cute to eat! I think they required 24 hours notice.

I believe the Summer House was the temp location for Gaspies when the GF renovated. Does anyone remember what they served? I wouldn't even mind going outside to the Cont.'s Sand Bar, if we could get hot breakfast items.

I should just save our CS credits for lunch and let them eat Mickey rice crispy bars for breakfast.

Just a heads up (and maybe you know this already) but many of the breakfast foods (fruit, box of cereal, bagel, etc) can be had with a snack credit. So if you're light breakfast eaters, you may want to consider that...

You have to host your photos on another site such as Sony Imagestation http://www.imagestation.com/index.html

Once your pictures are uploaded and saved:
-right click on the picture in your saved album
-go to properties and click
-highlight the URL for your picture and right click, COPY
-come back to this thread
-click on the yellow box above the text box that looks like it has a mountain and a sun in it
-PASTE the URL from your picture in the box that appears and click OK
-your picture will appear as text until you post, or you can click preview post to make sure it worked
