DISNEY'S CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information Thread!

Well, we made it home yesterday, and I can attest to the fact that the internet is still free. We had some trouble with our desktop computer in the room, were unable to get access to any of the Contemporary concierge stuff like househeeping, dining, etc till our departure day, but the ethernet cable worked fine on my laptop, and it was pretty fast too!

We stayed on the 11th floor MK view and it was great. I have some pictures in my trip report.

My family and I have had a MK view on the 5th floor which is the 1st of rooms in the Tower and as high as the 14th floor, which is last sets of rooms in the Tower. So in our opinion we did not see any difference between the MK view on a low floor and a high floor.

Thanks for mentioning that. I had put a request in to be on the 8th floor or higher. It's reassuring to know that if I do not get my request, the view is just as good on the lower floors.

I was on the concierge floor in March and I just want everyone to know how well the Chef's treated me. I have food allergies ( can not have wheat gluten) and they went out of their way to create special food items for me. Normally I don't get to have what everyone else has, but they really tried to make it so I had 2 hot food offerings and dessert every night. I also was given fruit and cheese that was not mixed with things that my trigger my allergy. I was able to contact the Chef's ahead of time which really helped. I am so pleased with the Contemporary. I have the Chef's e-mail address if any one else my have food allergies and are going on the concierge floor. I wasn't sure if I could post it, so if you need it PM me. I think I remember someone last year wanting this information, but I did not have it at the time. They are great and were the CM's, they all got to know my allergy. One of the Chef's even special ordered pastries for me, so I could have them for breakfast.

I will try and post my pictures at a later date. My dog died when I got back ( which was hard to deal with) and then I just got a puppy. So I am late in posting pictures, but I will get it done.:goodvibes

That sounds like a very nice thing for them to do, so thanks for posting it. :thumbsup2

Great thread. Maybe a silly question but I was wondering if all the rooms in the tower are concierge? :confused3 We are thinking of doing a split stay between WL and Contemporary in Dec 2008. Thanks. (I know, it is so far away).

The 12th and 14th floor are concierge, the rest are regular rooms. I think you can pay extra for a MK view. I loved it there, and would stay in the tower again. Actually I will go for 12th floor atrium club next time. The 14th floor was great, but a little lonely for me. I just loved the whole feel, I was one of those who really didn't like the look of the Contemporary. But, once I got in it I am a big fan. It is it's own little community. I will be going back, we just need to check out some of the other's we have missed.

Here is the differences between the two Club Level floors at the Contemporary.

With the Atrium Club a Magic Kingdom View room has to be a request, just like with a Bay Lake View room. So the only thing you will be guaranteed is a room up there, however you may not get the view you want.

With the Tower Club there is only a total of 16 rooms, 5 of which are standard rooms and the rest being 1 & 2 Bedroom Suites, a Vice Presidential Suite and a Presidential Suite. With the standard rooms once again there is no guarantee of a Magic Kingdom or Bay Lake View. However with any of the Suite rooms it will say Magic Kingdom or Bay Lake and that means you are guaranteed to have that specific room view.

Finally if a Magic Kingdom View at the Contemporary is that important to you, then it's best not to stay on a Club Level floor and book the Magic Kingdom View in one of the regular Tower floors. So that would mean you would be on any of the Tower floors between the 6th floor and the 11th floor, since there are now MK view rooms on the 5th floor because of the Monorail station.

Finally both floors serve the exact same foods for breakfast, afternoon snacks, 5:00 PM Hors D'Ouves and 8:00 PM deserts & cordials.

So in the end the 12th floor Atrium Club is less expensive then the 14th floor Tower Club, even though on both floors you would get the exact same service. The 14th floor is more expensive because fewer number of rooms and because of the Suites.

I would double check your ressie and make sure they did not charge you for CLUB then maybe lightly inquire about the club. I would not want to knock an upgrade or cause myself to loose it, so tread carefully. Keep us informed!

Do you remember making a reservation for the Tower Club? Because some of the rooms up there are suites and since you said you booked a Magic Kingdom view I assume you need just a standard room? The reason I say that is because some Magic Kingdom views up there are suite rooms, where as the standard rooms you do not book a Magic Kingdom View or Bay Lake View. It could be an upgrade however since your not sure maybe you should call CRO and ask them abut this. If it's an upgrade then congragulations because you will have fun up there if it's true.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick replies. I definately booked a standard tower room - MK view . (I rechecked my confirmation letters to be sure.) I definately don't want to jinx anything if I have received on of the fabled "upgrades"!

I'll guess I'll either email the IPO back or call to "confirm" my ressies tomorow. I should just leave it alone, but I can't stand not knowing. ;)

I would call just to make sure because it's weird that your confirmation letters say MK View, but no mention of the Tower Club.

Hi all

Do any of you have an email address for the Contemporary Resort Resevations?:confused3

Thanks
David

3boyzmom:

I arrive on 9/22 and have a standard MK view room. If you want it that badly I'll gladly trade you for a night in your suite if this upgrade is true :thumbsup2
Goodluck with the potential upgrade, I hope it works out for you!

3boyzmom:
Please let us know how it goes. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

UPGRADE here we go for 3boyzmom.

I don't think you can make reservations by e-mail. I know you can make them by calling CRO at 407-934-7639 and there is also a 1-800 number. Plus you can make reservation threw disneyworld.com, any other travel sites like Expedia and travel agents.

3boyzmom, try to pull your ressie up on the computer on the www.disneyworld.com website. Last year when I got an upgrade to beach club concerige, the ressie was changed on the ressie on the website, showing the change.
Congrat's and that is your 1st dream.;)

Hello!

I haven't conifrmed the upgrade yet (to chicken to call and can't pull up my ressie at disneyworld.com) BUT, IPO did get back to me about an ADR request I made. Keeping my fingers crossed!
