Disney's CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information & Questions

Does anyone know what the current toiletries in the room include? I know a few months back people were posting changes to what were traditionally there in the past.

Same amenities for both CL and non-CL. CR is the only resort, CL or not, I have seen provide all these amenities AND a large bottle of water.

Hi, New member here. Going to Disney World 11/7 - 11/10, just a short trip to surprise my stepson and his wife and Grandson. They asked us to go, but we declined due to our work schedules. We worked it out so we will arrive 2 days after they do, and we are trying to keep it secret until we arrive. I originally booked POFQ, but recently switched to CR. I'm really excited about staying here. I'm keeping this change from my husband until we arrive :)

I am SO ready to go. This will be my first Christmas Party, and I am so ready to experience that :santa:

Looking forward to learning all that I can to prepare. I have stayed at CBR for both of my previous trips :flower1:

Happy to meet all of you!

Donna

Welcome to the thread, Donna! I'll add your dates to the Log-o-Rail and let us know if you have any questions.

Hello everyone! I've been making my way through this fantastic thread with great interest. We have 16 nights booked at the Contemporary August 2017, we are all very excited. We could only manage to get a standard garden wing...it was that or £2000 more for a Theme Park View (wowsers). Time will tell whether we'll make do or maybe enquire about availability for a better view later on. The kids 12 & 15 will enjoy being close to the pool so it's all good but some of those views though...

You can always inquire at check-in, too, but I think you're going to have a wonderful 16 nights!

I have a strange question which I hope someone will be able to help me out here. I'm staying at CR from Dec6-12 and am from Canada so I can pick up my magic bands at the resort. We are thinking about staying at the Swan three nights prior. My question is if we can pic up our magic bands from CR a few days early??

Welcome and I'll log your dates. The free MBs are associated with your reservation, so I would assume you can only pick them up when your reservation begins, but that is a good question. You could certainly purchase MBs at WDW and add them to your MDX account anytime. I would suggest calling CR upon arrival at the Swan and asking.

@WDWKOOK When you get back I am finally back on the rail!!!

BLT 1 br TPV for a family of 4 Jan 13-15th.

Yes dd is a senior(q from your live thread) and we haven't been as a family in 3 years!

Hoping for a discount on a gv cr room to stay on after. Fingers crossed!

My ds19 only request is to eat at Kona again. Boy that kid loved that food this summer :)

Also kook I highly recommend a Jan trip! It is great to get away and reconnect after the semester away from home.

The first semester is the hardest for both parents and kids. Your dd will be fine tho having such a great support system ::yes::

WOOHOO! You've been logged:)

Just home from an incredible stay in a 1bd Bay Lake View Tower Club suite. The Contemporary continues to be perfect for our multi-generational trips with the convenience of the walkway to Magic Kingdom and monorail for Epcot.

Wait times were manageable throughout the parks and the Disney app is key to securing fast passes after the initial 3 are used. I believe we used 7 one day!

Mark and Susan in the Tower Club are amazing and I can't say enough about how well they worked to make our vacation a vacation.

We were sprinkled with pixie dust everywhere we went. CMs who just "get" what it means to brighten a guests day. Had a great conversation waiting for the Boo to you Parade with a MK park manager and she said that they take on a great responsibility when we choose to vacation at Disney. It's the little things that continue to make it the most magical place on earth!

FYI -- liter bottles were in our room daily and bottled water for parks available on request from the club room.

Feel free to ask away!

We definitely had different Tower Club experiences on 9/4 after I checked-in. Everything is in my TR so I won't go over all the nitty-gritty details again, but I'm glad your experience was a positive one. Maybe just my check-in afternoon/evening was bad and the food, lounge and noise improved after that?

The CR amenities are great and identical in both CL and non-CL rooms. They were better than my RPC amenities! Glad you had lots of Tower Club pixie dust:)

Joining in. Please add me to the Log-o-Rail. Thank you everyone for so much wonderful info. Our first stay at CR Atrium level will be March 26th.
Only one night.... before we sail on the Dream. :sail:

Welcome and you've been added:)

Question for everyone...is Chef Mickey a good place to start off our trip? We will be driving to Orlando from southern Florida and when we get there, we figured we could use the pool, take a monorail ride around to kill some time, and then do an early dinner at CM. The boys will be 7 and 4 when we go and they have no clue we are going! Any tips and pointers would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks!

Just adding to the other posts that I think the memory of all those photos with the characters is worth putting up with the not-so-great food, etc... We have lots of great character meal photos that I now look back on fondly, even when the meals and service were just meh.

Thanks so much - I've looked at the menu and I guess technically it looks/sounds good....just wondering about other people's experiences with the taste and quality of it :) (Also, I guess we are truly there for the characters and not so much the food so perhaps my question is a silly one!)

Repeat the mantra, "We're here for the character interaction and photos." And, it's an easy location to get to on your arrival night, but they do book up fast.

Quick update - my father is recovering from back surgery that was delayed a few weeks because his surgeon was out of town. So we will only be staying at the Contemporary for 1 night, 9/20. But I'm still excited to stay here, see HalloWishes from our TPV room, and eat breakfast at The Wave!

When I called to change our reservation, the CM reminded me about monorail modifications. I'm hoping they aren't too disruptive, as we were planning to use the monorail for the MK and EPCOT.

I leave tomorrow!!! First one night at POR, then 3 nights at AKL, all solo, then my parents join me for the final night at Contemporary! Woohoo!

Hope you're having a magical time!

Have a great time at CR...we are on the final 30 day Disney countdown! Did CM say what are the monorail modifications ?

They're just schedule modifications that I have in POST 2. You probably won't even be aware of them.

Hi all! I'm about to start reading the pages and pages on this thread but in the mean time - maybe someone can help ...
we are booked at bay lake in a 2 bedroom villa in Jan. Some of the descriptions of the 2 bedrooms have 2 beds in the 2nd bedroom and some have 1bed + 1 pull out couch. Can we request a room with the 2 beds in the 2nd room? Are there specific views / locations that have the 2 beds ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks !

Hello everyone - moving over here from OKW! Since the Sandcastle pool will be closed during our stay, I started exploring other options. Staying in the Garden Wing. I know it's not 100% pure in the A-frame Contemporary experience, but still a big upgrade from OKW! Can't wait to start reading 218 pages...

Is there a way to guarantee a patio/balcony room in the Garden Wing, or just request it on the reservation and hope for the best? Thanks!

No guarantee's as these are not booking categories for Garden Wing rooms. There are no balcony rooms in the Garden Wing. The second and third floors only have a sliding door with a safety bar. If you want a patio room, just ask for a 1st floor room. They all have a patio.

Thank you, Dave! Any idea how likely it is to get a 1st floor room (end of August)?

The cash bookings are the the rooms with the 2 queens. The other is referred as a "lock off". I don't think you can book that unless you use points.

We did the 2br once and loved it. I have a 1br coming up and happy with that too.

The only other note is that the inside C rooms the living room is square, the kitchen island does not have stools but the laundry room is so large I used it as my personal changing area :)

The outer C rooms have a pie shaped living area/feels larger. The island has 2 stools and the laundry is a small closet.

PM me if think of any other q's. I havent been back to BLT in a few years and can't wait!!!

I love the curved halls and talking elevators :flower1:

Well there are 3 floors in the Garden Wing so you start out with about 33% chance of getting a patio based on just the number of rooms. It really comes down to room occupancy aka who is already in your room type and when they are scheduled to depart when the room assigner(s) make your room assignment. As a reminder, if you don't get a patio by default, you can always inquire at the check-in desk on your arrival.

Now, looking at the odds, we need to know what booking category you have chosen as that will affect the possible number of rooms available to you.

For background, there are two Standard room booking types: Standard View and Garden View (Views of Gardens, Pools, Marina or Bay Lake). There are also some suites located in the Garden Wing.

Dave

Just booked our rooms for after our cruise in March - ended up getting a standard garden wing room through a travel agency for more than 45% off the rack room rate. We will be there from March 16th through the 19th. Excited to learn all about the Contemporary as this will be our first stay. Our last stay was at the Beach Club and we loved being able to walk to Epcot - now we will be able to walk to the Magic Kingdom!

This is great to know! Thanks for mentioning it! We have a 1BR booked in February, and requested inside the C strictly for the view. We love the CR tower Bay Lake view, so this was important to us. But now I'm wondering if a larger living area and island stools would trump the view. Hmmm...

Welcome to the thread, @cmarsh31. What category did you book and are you going to add any requests to your reservation?

Garden Wing, standard for Feb. Definitely the "close to transportation" - trying to decide between a higher floor for the potential of fire works, or ground floor for the patio (thinking this will win out)! I've been reading as much as I can since the big decision was made! While the TPV in the tower would be my dream (an unafforable one on this trip!), I think my DH would actually prefer the quieter aspect of the Garden Wing over floors and floors of elevators.

We like the north tower outside "C" for the larger living room as the smaller laundry closet doesn't bother us. The inside does have a lovely view of the lake but...I always feel like everybody can see in the room. We live on 1.6 acres and are use to not seeing our neighbors when we sit outside so we find it a little too close for us to have a room at BLT inside C.

That's why we are so excited! We finally got a TPV room and know we will have an even numbered room and no nosy neighbors:rolleyes1

Also patiently waiting for some nice pix of the updated soft goods at BLT. I would love some close ups of carpet, curtains etc. Please and Thank-you

It's not a one bedroom, but AllEars has photos of a newly rehabbed studio HERE.

So bummed to hear that your stay wasn't up to par. We had a wonderful time and I think it just goes to show what a lot of complaints on the threads are -- lack of consistency.

I booked the same for December and was wondering what to request! I didn't know it's possible to see fireworks from a standard? What sort of requesting do you make to get that sort of view?
