Disney's CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information & Questions

I just returned home from my first stay at BLT! We checked in on Thursday around 1:30pm and our room was ready. We were on the first floor in a 2 bedroom villa. We had standard view booked but ended up with a view of Bay Lake and the Contemporary pool. At first I wasn't thrilled with the idea of being on the first floor but we ended up loving it. We could just step outside our balcony to get to either of the two pools or the contemporary. We were in room 7144.

Glad you had a great time, thanks for your review. Also, great pics, thanks for sharing :flower3:.

We're getting pretty pumped up over here. :)

The anticipation is half the fun :goodvibes.....have a great trip :wizard:.

Thanks! I am staying contemporary but not BLT, so no dish soap for me. The water for the case is the same price as 2/3 bottles at the hotel :/ rather let it go to waste then spend so much extra money. The snack tray attaches to the stroller and allows the child to have a tray in front of them the rental companies don't supply them.

I'm happy to pass them on late on the 5th or before we leave on the 6th!
Bumping your offer:)

6 more days!!!!

Even fewer days now!

The room was absolutely amazing. There were 6 of us adults in there and much like the villas at Kidani Village the three full bathrooms really helped when everyone was trying to get dressed. We couldn't find any flaws in the room. Even the pull out sofa was comfortable. The lobby smelled so good too.

I ate lunch at Contempo Cafe on Thursday and it was pretty good for a quick service. We all had breakfast at the Wave on Saturday morning before going to Epcot. I wasn't too impressed with this set up. We had heard a lot of good things about the buffet but found it to be no better than Chef Mickeys which isn't saying a lot. Typical Disney paper bacon. Other than that, we went up to Top of the World twice but only ordered drinks.

On Friday we had a full day cabana booked at Contemporary. It was a little overcast on this day but we still really enjoyed the cabana. We were allowed to choose either one by the quiet pool or by the main pool and we selected the one right in front of the Cove Bar. They come pretty well equipped. We had a TV, iPod charger/speaker, fridge, fruit tray, sodas and waters. There were two big bed like lounge chairs under the cabana and two lounge chairs out front. While we did have the cabana for the full day we didn't use it for the full time because of dinner plans so we ended up leaving around 5pm. In my opinion it was definitely worth the cost and made for a pretty unique experience. The only cons were the obnoxious pool parties in the afternoon and the birds. If you have kids, then the pool party probably won't annoy you. On the other hand, the birds were vicious. They would fly right in and steal chips while we were in the pool. We even saw one bird going through someones bag while they were away. On a side note, there are 4 cabanas there. On Thursday when we checked in only one was in use and then on Friday we were the only group using one. Might have been the weather but it didn't seem necessary to book in advance.

We never used the pool at Bay Lake but stopped by the bar. It definitely looked to be more crowded than the pool at the Contemporary. The water slide definitely looked better at Bay Lake though.

Hope this helps!

What a great review and photos - thank you:). I hope the woman in the bathtub got to enjoy the tub with some bubbles. Do you have a return trip planned yet?

Favorite view from BLT?

Going in a couple of weeks and need some advise from folks that have had one, or the other, or both.
We have a studio for week of May 2nd. I know there are some "outside" Lake View rooms that you can actually see the MK from as well as the lake. This is the view I was thinking I would want to try for......however, the more I look at views it seems like the actual "inside" LV rooms, looking over the pool area are pretty sweet as well.

Which do you prefer and why?

What all can you see with inside lake view in the distance? Downtown Disney? Epcot?

Thanks guys! We're getting pretty pumped up over here. :)

The inner villas face other villas so we prefer the outer villas. At both BLT and CR, we book the BLV because we find it to be the most peaceful view without other resorts or parking lots in our view.

The upper/outer LV villas that face toward CR are the ones from which you can see Epcot/DTD/WL/Swolphin.

Yeah. We requested a high floor. :confused3:laughing:
That's funny, but at least it was an upgrade from a SV room or are all the ground floor rooms SV? I need to go look that up…

ETA: I looked it up and 7144 is a SV. All of the first floor rooms seem to be SV, but most also overlap with a more expensive view.

After being at WL CL last month and in a 2b villa at BLT this month I think a break from WDW is needed. lol Next known trip fro WDW is going to be in October in a Grand Villa at Jambo House. Other than that doing my first DCL trip on the Dream next month.

My buddy who just bought DVC at AKL is upset he didn't buy at BLT now. He liked not having take the busses while we were there. I can't say I don't blame him now.

Let's take a walk around the Garden Wing!

I love your "break" from WDW:laughing:. Bon voyage!

Great pics - Thanks KOOK!!!!

You're welcome, hurt817:)

Kook, that's why I don't mind staying in the garden section. It really is quite beautiful! Your pics show it the way I remember it.

Note to people booking the Hospitality suite: request pool view! Ours was a lovely suite but our view was of the parking lot and a vine covered wall.

@WDWKOOK your pictures are lovely and that looks like such a quiet area of the resort! :)

Quick question to all on this thread... Have you stayed in any accessible rooms at the Contemporary? If so how were they? My family and I really hoping to make this our resort for our trip next year! Thank you for sharing all of your wonderful photos! :D

Wow Kook!! Great pics!!! I had no idea how "covered" the walkway was! It even looks like there's carpet and lights? It doesn't look like you would get wet at all! I've never been in the Garden view area or the pool area, I've only seen pictures, so these are making me very excited for our trip! :cool1:

There is, and you won't! :)

Awesome pics, KOOK....thanks for sharing :goodvibes.
Thank you and I'm always happy to share resort photos:)

Good point. That (pricey) suite is just around the corner (counter clockwise) from the walkway and actually has a Standard View.

Welcome to the thread and thank you!

Bumping your question since I have never stayed in an HA room. Most King rooms (where they aren't bookable) are HA. If your question isn't answered here, try the DISabilities forum and I'm sure someone will know.

Our bags are packed and the alarm is set for 3:30 am!!!

We should be landing at MCO by noon, then off to the CR!!

It's almost time to land, get on ME and head to CR!!! Keep in touch and enjoy your first day.

I'm glad the photos were helpful as it can be hard picturing the GW unless you "walk around it." Only one GW entrance has the covered walkway so if you're near Bay Lake and you need to use the covered walkway then your walk through the GW will be longest to get to the lobby. But, unlike Poly or GF, you won't get wet.

Loving the pictures! I was really having trouble actually picturing the Garden Wing section. We're staying at the CR for the first time in May - splurging on convenience for the 24 hour event! To keep as budget friendly as possible, we booked a standard view Garden Wing room. We don't really care about the view, but are the parking lot view rooms noisy? The buildings seem to be quite close to the parking lot. What about overall noise from hallways/adjoining rooms? How long is the walk from these rooms to the lobby/monorail?
Also, can you request a king room? If so, how likely is it to get one?
Thanks!
