I've been revising the WL thread since it's nearing 250 pages, so my apologies for getting behind here with replying in a timely manner. I hope to have the new thread up this week.

Can someone tell me how to pay for the washing machines at CR. Do I need quarters or can my magic band be swiped? Also, is the only set of washers by the gardrn wing and are they close to the pool? Hate the thought of doing laundry on vacation, but we're staying 10 nights, and that would be a lot of clothes to pack!:laundy:
Welcome to the thread. The GW is the only laundry spot at CR, but it is close to the pool. I've never had a problem getting a couple of machines, just don't overload the dryer or your clothes will take forever to dry, (this is the case at all Deluxes). There are photos of the laundry room in the GUEST SERVICES chapter of the thread.

98 days until our 1st CR stay!! :cool1:

We had our baby boy on Monday, and I am on maternity leave so plenty of time to get into trip planning details! :cheer2:
YAY! I hope mom and baby are doing well and happy planning!

Hi KOOK

I agree. What one person likes, the next one will not.

How is your trip planning coming along? Any luck with snagging a 1 bedroom?
Found out that we won't be able to switch to a villa or CL (tried that, too), due to the special reservation we have so I'll probably book BLT for the summer instead since we'll be using the military rate that will allow a villa booking. Thanks for asking:)

Just booked a Garden Wing room (first deluxe for us) and I am curious as to how far a walk it is from the middle of the garden wing to the main building and to MK. Some of what I read is that Garden wing is not very desirable. We are accustomed to staying in moderates so walking is not an issue for us. I am just wondering if it is worth the extra money to stay at CR.
From this map you can see it's a short walk even from the furthest room. The rooms that are closest to the Tower are the Standard View rooms that face the parking lot and monorail.

Being able to walk to the MK and monorail to Epcot, MK, Poly and GF is so convenient and the Garden View rooms that face Bay Lake have amazing views!

We're movin' on up! With the recent discount we upgraded from the GW to the main tower with a Bay Lake View. My TA requested a higher floor and away from Chef Mickey's. Are there really specific requests that are ideal, like:

9th floor with an odd number or the like?

We have 2 rooms with 6 adults and two 5-year-old princesses.

Thanks!
Your request sounds perfect. Do you need to link your reservations so that you're near each other or request adjoining or connecting rooms?

New Contemporary Resort merchandise is available!!!! I would love to have one of the coffee mugs.

THANK YOU so much for posting the great news! We've waited a long time for this news and I just hope they still have some when we arrive in March.

I always budget around 90 minutes for any resort (from exiting the plane to entering the resort). Most of our experiences have been in the 60-75 minute range. I would be very cautious of scheduling a dinner on arrival day though because there are so many things that could delay you. The only time we made an ADR we were landing at MCO at 8 am and had an ADR for California Grill at 8 pm.
Good advice and welcome to the thread.

Now that they charge $10pp for an ADR that was missed and not cancelled the day before, I would not take the chance of booking a meal the day of arrival. You can always try to book something on your phone while on the bus or from the resort when you get there.

We just booked yesterday for our upcoming 5/30-6/7 trip to WDW. We've stayed at the AoA family suites, at the BC, the GF, and the YC. This is our first family trip staying at the Contemporary. We have an Atrium Club club room with a bay lake view. I stayed at the Contemporary years ago and absolutely loved it, so I'm looking forward to my family experiencing the resort.

I will probably have a ton of questions, so looking forward to reading through this thread and then asking the experts!

We are booked for our 40th Wedding Anniversary and Thanksgiving in the Tower Bay Lake view for 11/21-11/27.

We stayed in the Tower TPV for DH birthday last May and loved it. Looking forward to coming back!

That is a great idea.

Welcome and I'll log your dates. I think you're going to love your room view, (it's our favorite) and with the Atrium Club, you have the best of both worlds because you also have a TPV from the lounge.

Yippee! What a wonderful anniversary celebration you're going to have. Do you have your special dinner location picked out yet?

Can someone verify for me the material that the door is made of - metal or wood? I am going for my MBA graduation trip in December and would like to do some door decoration with a large sign and need to know if magnets or those command hooks would work better.

We recently decorated our room at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for Christmas and the Command Hooks were a godsend for hanging stockings and the wreath. Just curious. Want everyone on our floor to know that I got my MBA! :)

Yes!! we will have dinner at California Grill! Our favorite place for any celebration dinner!

Thanks, I think we will be giving The Wave a try on our next trip ;).

I'm sorry you won't be able to change for this trip, but yay for being able to book BLT for summer :yay:.

Can you swim late after park hours( after midnight)? Called and they said pool closes at 11:00 pm at Contemporary. Do they lock the pools or do you have access to swim late hours. We have stayed at Carribean Beach and the main pool closes at 11:00 but you can swim at the quiet pools anytime. Also can you refill mugs 24 hours, and is the counter service available 24 hours here? I have a Tower TPV booked 7 nights after our Disney Cruise, just making sure I made the right resort choice. My hubby and I have 3 teens that are night owls trying to pick the best monorail resort to best fit us. Thanks for the help

The Poly QS used to be 24 hours, and I *think* Grand Floridian's is too...?

I'm not sure about pool hours since we didn't swim when we were there last dec but the Contempo Cafe closes at like midnight or so but the refill station is open 24 hours

From Disney's web site, checking hours for today:

Contempo Cafe (Contemporary): 6AM-Midnight.
Gasparilla (GF): 24 hours.
Capt. Cooks (Poly): 24 hours.
